Angiogram angioplasty stent

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram angioplasty stent

angiogram

Avatar f tn I meant to say and said the cath angiogram was unnecessary unless it was agreed and understood that there would in all probablity be angioplasty (stent, balloon) with a cath angiogram. there is a higher than expected probability there would be a stent implanted with a cath angiogram ...there are statistics available).
Avatar f tn I had a stent and angioplasty 4 months ago. Since then I have pain in in the middle of my back. They would like to do a repeat angiogram. Can this cause scar tissue and or cause any further damage to the heart or vessels? I am 37yrs old with Diabetes of 33 years. No high BP and kidney function is well.
Avatar n tn The physician doing the angiogram has indicated he will put in a stent if he finds blockage. My feeling is that this is unnecessary as the major advantage of angioplasty (less invasive than bypass) is totally irrelevant since I'm having a valve replaced anyway. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn There is a difference between an angiogram and angioplasty. Angiogram is a diagnostic procedure! Angioplasty is therapeutic meaning treatment. Usually, or almost always the diagnostic procedure (angiogram) is performed before there is treatment.
Avatar f tn My Dr,s were shocked to find them. I had 1 stent put in, and an Angioplasty in the other due to I need a 2 mm stent that is drug eluding, but it is currently not availiab... Since then 11/04 , the stent is now offered. My symptoms have improved, and I feel no pain. Is it wise to still have the stent placed? Repeat Angiograms Oct 10, 2008 02:33PM in the Interventional Cardiology Expert Forum I had a stent and angioplasty 4 months ago. Since then I have pain in in the middle of my back.
Avatar n tn My father had an angiogram, and 2 angioplasty procedures with a total of 3 stent placements in the past 4 weeks. He had an allergic reaction to something following the last angioplasty----swelling of jaw, face, and generalized swelling and itching all over. That has resolved but starting suddenly 2 weeks after the last procedure, he has severe, generalized joint stiffness and pain. His right knee is swollen and very painful.
Avatar n tn Should he go for Stent implantation? Is it risky? His Ejection Fraction is 60%. If he doesn’t undergo Angioplasty and Stent implantation, is it risky? His Cholesterol level is around 130 and Fasting Blood Sugar is around 120 and 130.

Avatar n tn Apparently, the cardiologist wants to do angioplasty to see if a guided cath can pass through the total blockage and if so do a stent implant. Why wasn't the procedure done during the prior angiogram? Was it an angiogram other than a cath angiogram? The doctor is not a prognosticator for future heart events and it is unnecessary anxiety if so stated. You indicated a case conference...was the conference with a primary care doctor, cardiologist and surgeon?
Avatar m tn my mother 65 years old had a heart attack 30th jan 2011 and she was admitted in the hospital and taken angiogram on 3rdh feb 2011 by 4pm having 2 blockages in 100% and 95% imediately the cardiologist asked me whether you want to do angioplasty or bypass surgery and i decided to do angioplasty the cardiologist did medicated angioplasty with 2 stem and she retured home on 5th evening and she did well in on 7th morning 1.
Avatar n tn He reported to the hospital and angiogram was scheduled. But it took 3 days for angiogram to take place as we were told that he has low platelets and 3 SDPs were given to him. His platelets count was arnd 18k. After SDP it went up to 70-80k.
Avatar m tn t be surprised if your LAD has formed a new blockage or the existing stent has restenosed which just requires a new stent in either case.
Avatar f tn I have a 72% circumflex artery blockage for more than 6 years with no apparent progression and treated effectively with medication. Before a cath angiogram, you should discuss stent implants as an option, because you can almost be assured there will be a stent implant with the prep for the procedure, and the procedure makes it convenient and sometimes it is unnecessary. Trestment for ischemia can be medication, stent implant and open heart bypass.
Avatar f tn Now ,recently two weeks back he developed chest pain and when angiogram was done it showed 100 % block over rca stent and 50-60% block in lad .Stenting was done to rca with pzifer stent .Now ,my concern is his block in the lad - it approximates 50 -60 % .some say it can be managed medically ,but considering it being such a significant block ,i reaaly dont know what i am supposed to do .Wait or get another angioplasty done or go in for cabg (bypass grafting ).
Avatar m tn We consulted one of famous suregeons here and he says that my father can not have CABAG nor angioplasty and should be kept on medicine. Angioplasty will not improve his condition significantly. However, angioplasty specialist say he shld go for angioplasty and will be having 3 stents... Please advise in the light of these reports as what should we do...
Avatar m tn dear sir,34 yrs old men ,last jan 2012 i got an heart attack ,after my echo test dr suggest for angiogram, because antiror wall have mild thinning, jan 23 don angioplasty on my OM ,my other vessel have no blockage, now i am on medication, but last few days my shoulder and back pain ,i think again i have any heart issues, pls give advise
Avatar n tn My cardiologist told me that if a lesion / blockage is more than 70% then intervention of some kind such as Bypass or angioplasty is required. I am a diabetic too and the first time I had a stent put in by angioplasty, the stent got blocked in three months. At that time, I had double bypass and the bypass are clean after nine years. Nine years ago I saw a report that said that stents get blocked more often in diabetics than non-diabetics.
Avatar f tn My father has just undergone a angiogram and was advised that his Right Coronary artery is 100% blocked. 8 years ago he had his first angiogram d/t tightening in the throat symptoms upon exersion. His angiogram at that time showed a very small occlusion in the lower aspect of the heart- resulting in the stable angina. The lastest angiogram also revealed "new arteries" had formed and have compensated for the blockage somewhat.
Avatar m tn It was stented and a year later a stent was placed inside that stent to reopen. I did have chest pains before the second procedure. But in answer to your question about exercise, in my case, I feel that it is an essential part of my treatment of heart disease. Ask you doctor in your case what they feel.
Avatar m tn Your comments and opinions are much appreciated. The angiogram/angioplasty procedure for my mother-in-law has been postponed. She is keen to try the chelation therapy and we hope it works for her and she will get better.
Avatar m tn I have never heard of a way to remove an implanted stent using angioplasty. Imagine you insert a stent into a patient, which is obviously a mesh tube. In a matter of days, new cells form in the artery and begin to work through the mesh, lining it with natural tissue. The stent basically become embedded inside a new lining. To try and pull this out would destroy the artery. It would be like me inserting a coin under your skin. Now try and remove the coin without damaging the skin.
