Avatar m tn im pretty sure i hold the record for most relapses on this site, lol, shouldn't be laughing, but looking back on how i apporached trying to stay clean before and now is completely different and the reason im clean today is what i have done different. 1. i am open about my addiction and no longer in denial 2. i try to help others sharing this same disease 3.
2107676 tn?1388973859 Everyone keeps saying we need aftercare to stay clean. I believe them because they all have a ton of clean time. Is there only NA? Are there other forms of aftercare. I went once to a meeting and my legs shook so bad thru the meeting the who brought me had to take me outside. A major panic attack set in. I saw tons of people I knew and alot of them were just there for support for other people. I think the meetings should be closed to people who are addicted.
Avatar n tn Detox is the primary stage of recovery, aftercare are the activities one does to develop coping skills, non-addict thinking, and emotional/spiritual maturity, for the rest of ones life. The activities, like those mentioned above, can change, but I believe we all need to keep improving to stay sober. I consider the gym my physical aftercare, therapy is my mind's aftercare, and working with a group to become more sustainable is my spiritual aftercare. CBT is my main emotional aftercare.
222369 tn?1274474635 ve had to run this vicious cycle hundreds of times, each time with the best of intentions, before I came to realize that aftercare is more important than the detox itself. Please, to every person detoxing right now. To those in terrible and mental pain. Think about your aftercare RIGHT now. Set up a support system...whether it's a clergy, AA/NA, a private counselor, the fine people and relationships here on this forum, or even group therapy.

Avatar m tn Good job in thinking of aftercare. I used to make plans for aftercare and then I wouldn't follow through with the aftercare and wonder why I would get loaded again??!! There is a saying I like mean what you say, say what you mean, don't say it in meanness. All the best to you.

1017452 tn?1254904998 ve taken your advice and called our local alcohol and drug service re aftercare...they pointed me in the direction of the AA and NA... I then spoke to my hubby about it... today's not a good day for him...his w/d's off methadone are NASTY! He said he didn't seem to think he was going to NEED it! I pass on all your messages to him and read out loads of interesting info to reassure him that he's NOT alone.

Avatar f tn I know that aftercare is a big step in recovery. Can anyone give me any suggestions that has helped them?
Avatar f tn What is aftercare? I have read lots of responses , I posted but it seems as tho most people have strength ... I find it impossible to be strong if my partner isn't ...
514273 tn?1311609635 I've been on this board for years and years. I've never sought aftercare like most people suggest. I've tried to go a to few meetings and they depress me more than it was uplifting. I can go weeks to months without taking these, but once i take one, it becomes a full blown addiction again. I don't know the underlying issues for relapse. Maybe it's because i'm all alone. I work and then i go home to my empty room.
7282682 tn?1397237735 Aftercare are things like therapy, church, 12 step programs, etc. Things that address your addiction. You have to find what works for you but the important thing is to find something.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
