Avatar f tn I started taking adderall in my mid twenties and it has caused some brain damage, it is difficult to remember what I did the day before or telephone numbers. I cannot even imagine what it is doing to a child's mind. All the parents out there that have their children on this so called "miracle drug" needs to take the time to read http://www.breggin.com/ ...
Avatar f tn Liver damage, kidney damage, diabeties, nasal sprays, diet pills, barbituates(florecet etc) can all give false positives for amphetamines not to mention the accuracy rate for drug testing in cheap testing is about 50% if not done in a good lab. Many labs that get false positives send the urine out to a specialist lab to re-test the urine and many times it is reversed.

Avatar m tn Hi there. I'm sorry to hear what happened. Unfortunately, there can be events in the medical field that are really unexpected and have little explanation, and what happened to your father maybe no exception. Off hand, I can think of causes like an embolism (blood clot that lodges in the blood supply of the brain) or a transient arrhythmia (problem with the electrical conduction of the heart). However, these would have shown up in the scans and EKG respectively.

Avatar m tn Hi....I think u mean damage to the brain...not brain damage unless it is untreated. There is a condition called syringomyelia and it can be caused from a trauma or even whiplash, another condition that can be there since birth, but triggered during or after a trauma is chiari malformation. U should always get checked if u have a head trauma.....Natasha Richardson died shortly after falling while skiing.....
Avatar m tn The answer to the question is as follows: TX is a powerful treatment that can in some, or even many cases, produce a wide range of side effects, and post-treatment side effects that may last for days, weeks, months, years, or in some cases it appears permanently. The first goal is to get rid of the virus, especially in those whom it has advanced beyond early stages, or seems to be causing significant physical or cognitive problems.
Avatar f tn Adderall is an amphetamine. And it's addictive much like cocaine is. Maybe someone with personal experience with cocaine could jump in? Look up 'amphetamine psychosis' and 'dopamine hypothesis of psychosis/schizophrenia' to see how extended use of amphetamine can change a person psychologically. Becoming violent is only the tip of the iceberg of everything it can cause to happen to a person emotionally.
Avatar n tn It seems that liver damage is possible with amphetamine use, and alcohol would have made it worse. What really matters at this point is how you will take care of your liver from now on, and how you'll treat this condition, if it needs medical treatment. You can always ask your doctor what he/she thinks about it. They're not there to judge, and if you haven't told them, you need to so they can give you the best care possible.
Avatar n tn You would have to be in fantastic shape to withstand not doing damage maybe even unrepairable damage to yourself. Please be careful. More is not better.
Avatar f tn Hi, Adderall, a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, can stimulate the central nervous system and affect chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. This is usually indicated for narcolepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and may be used for migraine prevention. Hope this helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn But lately its been doing a lot of damage on me. Much more than before probably because I am taking so much more now without any breaks. I feel really depressed, angry, muscles twitch, i get nervous, confused, anxious, blurry vision, heavy eyes, jaw pain (from grinding I guess), dry mouth and the list goes on and vary every time. I talked to my friends about it and they just says "so stop talking them!!!." Of course I don't need to tell you how easy that sounds.
Avatar f tn the lowering of whatever makes me cautious. Without a stimulant (amphetamine), I am depressed. I am strong willed, but even after 5 months of not taking anything, I still had anxiety and depression. This being said however, not the same anxiety that I experience with Adder all. Kind of, but not. Again, however; the anxiety I face without anything is still not a “normal” human, or “me” type of feeling. Period. It just isn’t.
5748591 tn?1373570078 We know for sure that stuff does physical and mental damage. The brain is amazing, even if there is damage, our brain can use different parts of the brain to do the jobs of the damaged areas. It really is amazing. I'd try to each real clean, get exercise, and do some kind of therapy. There are new imaging machines that can take pictures of brain activity, but they are expensive. If you stop using from now on, it can take 2 years to fully recover.
Avatar n tn Absolutely positively, provided the water is freezing. There have been successful resuscitations without brain damage after as many as four hours under water. On the other hand there are many cases (especially in warm water) where there are severe brain damage after only a few minutes under water.
