Avatar f tn Now, I am taking amoxicillin and have seen a periodontist who wants to do a gum graft and place gum from the inside of my mouth over the implant so there isn't a hole anymore. After five infections, multiple rounds of antibiotics, and seeing four different doctors (2 dentists, 1 oral surgeon, 1 periodontist), is there any end in sight for me?
Avatar m tn About a month ago I cracked a tooth. A week or so after the crack is swelled up pretty bad. I went to urgent care and the doctor games me 500mg of penicillin 4 times a day. The penicillin knocked out the swelling in a couple days and everything pretty much went back to normal. Last night the area swelled up again and even my law line started swelling. I could feel a large bump in my gum line which I'm guessing was the infection.
Avatar m tn I'm in Ireland for my honeymoon (having a blast!) but a little concerned about a gum abscess related to a failing root canal that doesn't seem to be reacting to 500mg of amoxicillin 4 times a day... I was diagnosed with a failing root canal by my endodontist last Tuesday, 3/7. This was after seeing my regular dentist a week earlier who put me on a 7 day prescription of amoxicillin that seemed to help with the inflammation and immense pain.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me it was most likely an abscess and wrote me a prescription for 250 mg of Amoxicillin (3x a day) and told me to get to a dentist the next day because she assumed they were going to want to lance/drain the infection. I was able to see a dentist today and after an x-ray he determined extraction would be the best option for me since the decay extends under the bone.
Avatar m tn Doctors and dentist do work together and should in these cases. I agree with bbxx in that gum infections can be very problematic for the heart....even for healthy hearts that don't have any problems.
Avatar n tn Besides this Group B Streptococcus, mycoplasma, neisseria and cornybacterium are known to cause throat infections. Other known pathogens causing infections of the throat are viral and yeast (candida). The antibiotic of choice for a streptococcal infection is penicillin but azithromycin is also effective. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn 4 days after Amoxicillin, pain came back. Started same way, sore Left side throat, red swollen gum around the tooth, hard white bump, ? Fistula - maybe a piece of bone, painful. Made appt w/ Oral Surg, Rx'd more Amoxicillin, which eventually helped swelling go down. At appt., did x-ray, not catscan. He did not see anything wrong. But, on physical exam of the wisdom tooth, thought he found crack in tooth, below gumline.
Avatar f tn I came back after having a dose of amoxicillin and also metronidazole, (the M was for a different infection but was told to take it a few days after the amoxicillin anyway) i had the root canal and a few weeks was still in pain so my dentist prescribed me another set of amoxicillin , which i took.
Avatar f tn It disappeared after2 weeks of amoxicillin ibuprofen and naproxen. Everything was fine for a few weeks now i have severe pain under my nose and in my cheek bone area. When i press down it hurts worse. When i talk the pain radiates out to the surrounding teeth and gum areas. There is no oral swelling or pus pocket and i think it has started again.
Avatar m tn Was sent to hematology, but clinic only deals with blood cancers, which I do not have. Antibiotics work, Amoxicillin, Bactrim, etc.... but infections always returns. What physician or specialty clinic, deals with chronic infections ? So, I can discuss with my primary doctor for referral, thanks.
Avatar n tn what causes does that mean i dont have, so this monday im going to thhe gum clinic for a std, what possible infections could it be?.... also i lost my appitite and sometimes i can focus right, but i have been eating better today.... i am getting it back to normal. i have masturbated again to see if its eased the pressure, that was on the 15th of july 09, at night... and it continued, but over the passed 4 day, it has decreased in pain but its still there...
Avatar f tn I went back to the dentist who diagnosed a gum infection to the side of the extraction site. Amoxicillin was prescribed as well as Peridex. The gum infection subsided and following a second visit, the dentist said the infection was now controlled. I have however, when I press the gum on the side of the extraction site a very bad pus smell coming up from the right nostril, other than that I do not have any other symptoms.
Avatar f tn My dentist prescribed me 500 mg of amoxicillin every 6 hours for a gum infection. It's been a few days now and Ifeel better and I want to resume my workout schedule. Is strenuous exercise contraindicated when taking amoxicillin? Also, is sun exposure a factor, and if so, how long after you complete the round of antibiotics should you wait before you are able to go back out in the sun?
Avatar f tn ve been on antibiotics, amoxicillin for 3 days now and not much has changed. my throat is starting to hurt so im scared the infection is spreading. i dont have dental insurance so i dont want to remove the tooth unless its the last resort. I want to get a operculectomy to remove the gums and hopefully it'll solve the infection. if it comes back, then i will really consider getting the tooth out. my question is, how much typically do you think it would be?
Avatar f tn Do I need to premedicate for Root deep cleaning due to gum disease?? Was diagnosed aged 20 with mitral valve prolapse and mild regurgitation..25 years later most echos show no sign of regurgitation though..Can I take amoxicillin afterwards??
Avatar f tn Hello, are you sure you are taking the right dosage of amoxicillin and it's frequency? Infections may re-occur if the correct dosage and frequency is not followed. Try to visit again your dentist to have a right assessment of the situation.
Avatar n tn You can check with a pharmacist about the amoxicillin. Secondly, you can ask your physician for samples if possible or ask if she or he can enroll you in a free medication program so that you are able to get the medication to take. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn Chronic halitosis may be caused by poor oral hygiene, gingivitis (gum disease),oropharyngeal infections or a dental abscess. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.

Avatar m tn Thanks for your comment, I have been taking probiotics for about 8 days and my rapid heart beat/anxiety and insomnia condition have both stopped. I still have stress in my life but "I'm almost back". Thanks Ultimate flora and thanks for the support Paxiled.
Avatar n tn Different mechanisms of action but both antiobitics used to treat bacterial infections. Quinilones are used less frequently for sure due to some side effect issues and warnings about the class of drugs. Check with your doctor if you have any concerns but they are definately not the same thing. Often antibiotics have little niches that they are used in. good luck and hope you feel better.

Avatar n tn I've been on antibiotics almost staright for 3 and1/2 years. As soon as I'm off antibiotics for 2 weeks a bladder infection comes right back! I've suffered on and off for the last 10 years. 19 years ago I had kidney stones when I was pregnant. I've had scopes done and ct scans and everything shows normal. I had a cyst removed from my left ovarian 7 years ago and I had endometriosis removed off of the outside of my bladder 6 months ago!
1418362 tn?1282203044 I am allergic to several molds, and have recently been prescribed Amoxicillin for a sinus infection caused by allergies. The mucus has cleared up from green to white, but my allergy symptoms are also worse and I am having severe diarhea which has left me weak, faint and exhausted. Because of sinus blockage, my CPAP machine used for severe sleep apnea has trouble delivering the air to my lungs, so I am haing difficuly sleeping.

Avatar f tn will amoxicillin harm my baby? I've got a water infection and the doctor prescribed me them. Also, if I take them does it cause thrush? I'm curious.
Avatar f tn Due to a recent oral sex encounter, I got tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia in the throat. Those swabs were done with the Aptima Combo 2 Assay and came back negative. I took azithromycin and rocephin injection as a precaution (before the swab results came back), and am currently taking Augmentin to get rid of the strep. I was feeling fine and healed until yesterday when my throat started to hurt again.
Avatar n tn I took him to the emergency room and they said it may be a reaction to a viral infection and prescribed amoxicillian for 10 days...It has been 6 days and still they are bleeding...What is wrong? He is too young for gum disease, right?
