Avatar n tn National Library of Medicine, amoxicillin is available in a pediatric drop form for infants. Each ml of this bubble-gum flavored liquid contains 50 mg of amoxicillin, states Rx List. Babies under the age of 3 months receive 30 mg of amoxicillin each day for every 2.2 lb. of body weight, according to Rx List. Pediatric drops can be placed directly in the mouth or mixed with baby formula, juice or water, notes Drugs.com.
Avatar m tn About a month ago I cracked a tooth. A week or so after the crack is swelled up pretty bad. I went to urgent care and the doctor games me 500mg of penicillin 4 times a day. The penicillin knocked out the swelling in a couple days and everything pretty much went back to normal. Last night the area swelled up again and even my law line started swelling. I could feel a large bump in my gum line which I'm guessing was the infection.
Avatar f tn I went back to the dentist who diagnosed a gum infection to the side of the extraction site. Amoxicillin was prescribed as well as Peridex. The gum infection subsided and following a second visit, the dentist said the infection was now controlled. I have however, when I press the gum on the side of the extraction site a very bad pus smell coming up from the right nostril, other than that I do not have any other symptoms.
Avatar f tn 4 days after Amoxicillin, pain came back. Started same way, sore Left side throat, red swollen gum around the tooth, hard white bump, ? Fistula - maybe a piece of bone, painful. Made appt w/ Oral Surg, Rx'd more Amoxicillin, which eventually helped swelling go down. At appt., did x-ray, not catscan. He did not see anything wrong. But, on physical exam of the wisdom tooth, thought he found crack in tooth, below gumline.
Avatar f tn My dentist prescribed me 500 mg of amoxicillin every 6 hours for a gum infection. It's been a few days now and Ifeel better and I want to resume my workout schedule. Is strenuous exercise contraindicated when taking amoxicillin? Also, is sun exposure a factor, and if so, how long after you complete the round of antibiotics should you wait before you are able to go back out in the sun?

Avatar n tn The doctor told me it was most likely an abscess and wrote me a prescription for 250 mg of Amoxicillin (3x a day) and told me to get to a dentist the next day because she assumed they were going to want to lance/drain the infection. I was able to see a dentist today and after an x-ray he determined extraction would be the best option for me since the decay extends under the bone.
Avatar n tn I took him to the emergency room and they said it may be a reaction to a viral infection and prescribed amoxicillian for 10 days...It has been 6 days and still they are bleeding...What is wrong? He is too young for gum disease, right?

Avatar n tn I was put on Amoxicillin for 7 days (500 mg every 6 hours) to get rid of the infection, and went in yesterday for my root canal. I told the endodontist performing my procedure that it didn't feel like the infection was completely gone even though I finished my antibiotics. He told me that wasn't a problem and went ahead with my root canal. He sealed it up with a temporary filling and I have to go back in a week for the permenant composite filling.
Avatar m tn So I had Strep Throat over the weekend. Seen my doctor and he put me on Amoxicillin. My strep cleared up for the most part (the white crap all over my throat). Throat is still sore and have ulcers in a few places around my mouth. Not to worried about that, what does worry me is now my gums are killing me. I cannot even tough them with a brush. No blood as of yet from them. Is this the last of the infection retreating?
Avatar m tn I'm in Ireland for my honeymoon (having a blast!) but a little concerned about a gum abscess related to a failing root canal that doesn't seem to be reacting to 500mg of amoxicillin 4 times a day... I was diagnosed with a failing root canal by my endodontist last Tuesday, 3/7. This was after seeing my regular dentist a week earlier who put me on a 7 day prescription of amoxicillin that seemed to help with the inflammation and immense pain.
Avatar f tn I had a cleaning and when they were checking my filling in #3 there was apparently a crack and I received an infection. I was put on Amoxicillin and a root canal was performed on June 23, two days later an incision was made in the gum to clean out some of the infection, the next day a small hole was made in the upper gum to try and drain some of the infection. On July 1st I was sent to an oral surgeon who did a panoramic of my face and there was infection the size of a walnut up into my sinus.
Avatar f tn Now, I am taking amoxicillin and have seen a periodontist who wants to do a gum graft and place gum from the inside of my mouth over the implant so there isn't a hole anymore. After five infections, multiple rounds of antibiotics, and seeing four different doctors (2 dentists, 1 oral surgeon, 1 periodontist), is there any end in sight for me?
Avatar n tn m wondering if my lowered white blood count or anything like that might impact my healing or resistance to infection. Is it at all preferable (even marginally) to reschedule for later? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Also the sinus infection caused very watery orange discharge from the sinus cavities and flow when I bent my head down. I had a sinus infection and gum infection at the same time. I took Amoxicillin for a week and it all cleared up.
Avatar m tn The antibiotics do take a little while to remove/clean the infection. It would probably take about 3 or more days for the infection to start clearing up. But the main cause of the pain is probably the nerve which needs to be removed. The treatment of a root canal takes care of that. Hope that helps some and hope you both feel better.
Avatar f tn Hospital gave me 300 mg 4x a day clindamycin for the infection but said I would have to see a dentist for something for the pain. I can barely eat or sleep and at this point I'm almost ready to rip this tooth out myself because I can't get any relief. I'm hungry but can't eat and I know that my bundle of joy is not getting what he needs because of all this and I just don't know what to do at this point. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your responses, they are greatly appreciated. I just had my exam today at the periodontist. She prescribed me amoxicillin, in one does totalling 2000 mg. I am very concerned about this. Last time I went to the dentist they gave me antibiotics over 2 weeks. She wants to give 4 500mg pills taken at once and hour before my procedure. Not only am I afraid of the dosage, but endocarditis. Is this normal to take this much at once? Now I do fear this will mess with my heart.
Avatar n tn Hello, 5 weeks ago I woke up with severe pain in my bottom right side of mouth. The gums swelled up, so I went to the dentist. There was an abcessed tooth, so the Dentist pulled the tooth. The lump on my gums stayed swollen, so the Dentist took two additional x-rays of my mouth 2 and 3 weeks later and said the other teeth were fine and he wasn't sure what to make of it. He wanted me to wait and see if the swelling resided.
Avatar f tn I went to the dentist last sunday with an abscess tooth which is going to have to be a root canal started taking amoxicillin mon its now friday and still swollen no sign of abscess subsiding quite painful still planning to go to doctor or dentist tomorrow are there any symptoms i shoud be worried about and maybe go to emergency
Avatar n tn what causes does that mean i dont have, so this monday im going to thhe gum clinic for a std, what possible infections could it be?.... also i lost my appitite and sometimes i can focus right, but i have been eating better today.... i am getting it back to normal. i have masturbated again to see if its eased the pressure, that was on the 15th of july 09, at night... and it continued, but over the passed 4 day, it has decreased in pain but its still there...
Avatar f tn Okay so I have a gum infection around my wisdom tooth, pericoronitis. i've been on antibiotics, amoxicillin for 3 days now and not much has changed. my throat is starting to hurt so im scared the infection is spreading. i dont have dental insurance so i dont want to remove the tooth unless its the last resort. I want to get a operculectomy to remove the gums and hopefully it'll solve the infection. if it comes back, then i will really consider getting the tooth out.
Avatar n tn the "hole" is indeed an opening through the bne for your infection to drain. without it, you'd be quite swollen. Either the root canal has failed, there is a fracture in the tooth, or there is a periodontal prolem. Antibiotics may work short term, but this is in no way a permanent fix for this problem. I'fd see another dentist for a new opinion on the problem.
Avatar f tn It disappeared after2 weeks of amoxicillin ibuprofen and naproxen. Everything was fine for a few weeks now i have severe pain under my nose and in my cheek bone area. When i press down it hurts worse. When i talk the pain radiates out to the surrounding teeth and gum areas. There is no oral swelling or pus pocket and i think it has started again.
Avatar f tn I've been on Amoxicillin for 5 days for a tooth abscess. I went to the dentist for significant facial swelling, and was diagnosed with the abscess. The swelling has gone down, however I now have a pus pocket on my gum above my molars. It's only painful when I touch it, but I can see the swelling under my cheek when I smile. Since I'm already on Amoxicillin, can I pop the abscess using a sterilized needle? It's Friday night, and the dentist won't be in until Monday...
Avatar f tn Hi I have large extremely painful abscess causing severe pain and swelling in gum, jawbone and neck. This is from a tooth diagnosed with internal root asorption. I've been taking anitbiotics for 5 days with no relief. I'm scheduled to see new specialist in 5 days, the first available appointment so I'm officially under nobody's care. Is this a dangerous situation and do I need to do something ASAP instead of waiting for my appointment?
Avatar f tn Well, probably the first cause to suspect for lowering platelets would be some infection, whether the gum infection or any other infection such as even a virus. Infection causes inflammation, and inflammation causes platelets to get 'sticky' and clump together, which uses them up. Mental stress can be involved. "RESULTS: MPV was found to be significantly higher... and platelet count was found to be significantly lower in the [high anxiety] group" https://tandfonline.
