Avatar m tn m not sure but your liver condition might be a complicating factor. I take both Amaryl , also 1 mg, plus 2000 mg metformin and I finally have it under control. I walk 25 miles a week and watching diet fairly closely. I think you have some room in the dosing of the amaryl since I think 1 mg is just about the minimum dose. Although many people use insulin (Bill is one) I'm trying to avoid it. So, I walk and walk some more. Blood sugar is better (5.

Avatar m tn I am maintaining a stage 3 and was on a 3 month regiment of vitamin d and we also eliminated metformin. I take Amaryl now, instead.. My blood glucose was out of control but my PCP put me on Victoza. That seems to be helping with the exception of BS levels being very low in the morning. My PCP has suggested she might take me off the Amaryl and just have me take more insulin along with the Victoza and Januvia. At this point we're experimenting with the meds to see what works better.

Avatar n tn Good afternoon. I have been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes for about 5 years now...I think I had the problem well before that but I had a doctor who would never run the test (just lose some weight, etc). I'm not very good about keeping my levels under control because I get so discouraged that I just give up from time to time.
Avatar f tn The reason she has to have insulin injection is that all other drugs upset her stomuch ( except diamicron MR ) .Doctor has prescribed her with Amaryl ,Glucophage ,Glucobay ,but they upset her stomuch .Although she take it after meal but she still have stomuch pain .So I want to ask what diabet drugs that don’t upset stomuch (because she hate to take insulin injection ).
Avatar m tn This is a question for your pharmacist as I could not locate "IP". Normally USP is Rx'd. Amaryl [glimepiride] tablets come in various forms and colors. The letters IG [eye gee] is imprinted on three tablets [blue, pink, green] to designate strength.
Avatar m tn I my BG was too high, I took fast acting insulin, which works immediately, with a pen, before my meal. I took Metformin before every meal. Then I also took Amaryl, a drug which jolts your pancreas into working again. Apparently, mine wasn't producing insulin any longer, though it was capable of doing so. Now that it does, I have insulin resistance again. It took me a few years, but I've lost 70 pounds, and I'm off insulin. I went off the Amaryl in about 6 months.

Avatar f tn My Dr. wants to place me on Metformin or Glucophage. Does anyone here with MS take one of these? If so, what kind of problems might I expect? What good benefits do you receive? Any info is much appreciated!!!!
1111143 tn?1259092353 I am still taking 1000mg of Metformin each morning, but she removed me from Januvia and Amaryl when she gave me the insulin. She did not give me a maximum dose for the insulin. Just one shot a day, just before bed. Start with 20 units and increase gradually until my morning BG is below 120. I've already got a call into her nurse letting her know it doesn't seem to be helping much and that I'm already up to 45 units before bed.
Avatar f tn HI, Pregnancy is not impossible in women with PCOS. With proper treatment conceiving will be possible. Metformin and clomid both are good drugs. Metformin will help normalise your hormones and clomid helps with induction of ovulation. This can be taken for 3 to 6 months. If there are no results then you will need further evaluation and treatment by an infertility expert. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
245020 tn?1209657943 I take 1000mg of Metformin a day. Metformin will upset your stomach, cause diarrhea, etc. but that only lasts a couple weeks. I'm currently in my 2nd month of taking Metformin and I'm taking a pregnancy test at the end of the week! Did your doctor not explain the side effects? Upset stomach is a normal side effect. Check out soulcysters (dot) net and click on their Metformin forum.

WE had also been off b/c for 5 years and not fallen pregnant either. 8 months with a chiropracter and on my 3rd month I fell pregnant for the first time. Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PCOS in August of 2010 and was put on Metformin, one pill a day to help regulate my menstrual. I have been very active and lost 100 lbs before being diagnosed, and so exercise and eating healthy are not a new thing to me. I exercise 6 days a week, and since being on Meformin. The medication is working with one problem, but I'm not sure why it isn't helping in the other area of weight. I heard that people loose weight with Metformin! So I'm stuck as what to do??
