I have had Type 2 diabetes since October 07. I was put on Amaryl then and now am also on Metformin. I have since gained almost 5-8 pounds. Is this normal? I can't find this listed as a side effect in the drug info. I am about 20 pounds overweight and have been trying to lose that to help with the diabetes. I have a healthy diet and try to exercise as much as I can. I also have Crohn's disease (which may have contributed to the onset of diabetes), so heavy exercise is out for me.
This is a question for your pharmacist as I could not locate "IP". Normally USP is Rx'd. Amaryl [glimepiride] tablets come in various forms and colors. The letters IG [eye gee] is imprinted on three tablets [blue, pink, green] to designate strength.
The reason she has to have insulin injection is that all other drugs upset her stomuch ( except diamicron MR ) .Doctor has prescribed her with Amaryl ,Glucophage ,Glucobay ,but they upset her stomuch .Although she take it after meal but she still have stomuch pain .So I want to ask what diabet drugs that don’t upset stomuch (because she hate to take insulin injection ).
I am maintaining a stage 3 and was on a 3 month regiment of vitamin d and we also eliminated metformin. I take Amaryl now, instead.. My blood glucose was out of control but my PCP put me on Victoza. That seems to be helping with the exception of BS levels being very low in the morning. My PCP has suggested she might take me off the Amaryl and just have me take more insulin along with the Victoza and Januvia. At this point we're experimenting with the meds to see what works better.
We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.
Yesterday I applied silver nitrate to some tiny bumps on the base of the shaft of my penis- my best guess as to what they are is either genital warts or hair follicles that were bigger than my liking so I decided to chemically burn them off with silver nitrate. I applied silver nitrate and put the sticky part of a bandaid over it and left it for 24 hrs, when removed the top layer skin shed and the bumps are still present though now smaller and raw.
Could the potassium nitrate in toothpaste for sensitive teeth be enough to cause palpitations? I have used it for quite a while and ran out about a month ago. When I bought toothpaste got regular by mistake and used the whole tube. During this time my palps were the best they have been in a LONG time. Hardly even noticed anything. Ran out of toothpaste, bought the sensitive stuff and after about a week I'm flipping and flopping all over the place again.
Have any of you mommies had to have silver nitrate put onto the remainder of your baby's umbilical cord stump? And if so how long did it take to fall off?
I'm 31 and finally had orgasms (cervical ones) after having kids a couple years ago. Not to brag, it was really simple to have them once I figured out exactly what to do shortly after my second kid - I'm assuming a physical change down there from labor exposed the right parts. I was having bleeding after sex and the Dr. fixed my "friable cervix" with silver nitrate a few months ago.
Prior to surgery, she was taking Amaryl 1mg tablets once a day. Is this increased BSR levels following a surgery common enough, are there any implications and what should be the desired course of action?
I am 42 years old Diabetic for 5 years on Metformin 500mg XL and Amaryl 2 mg. My blood sugars are not controlled. Fasting in 140 s and postprandial 300s. I am following diabetic diet and doing regular exercise/ What is the next step I should do.
Please advise. My recent A1C is 8.5.

Isosorbide is a slow acting nitrate that dilates coronary vessels and prevents (for some individuals) angina (chest pain) for ischemia (lack of blood flow to heart cells). Sublinqual nitro is a fasting acting nitrate that relieves pain during an episode.
I take isosorbide prior to going to the gym for a workout and experience no pain. Occasionally, I take the fast acting nitrate for relief.
You can be treated for pectoris angina with a nitrate. This medication dilates corornary vessels and relieves any pain due to vessel stenosis. There is a fast acting nitrate that relieves angina quickly (nitro) and a slower nitrate that is effective for a longer period of time.
I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.
Treatment of this includes application of Burrow’s or silver nitrate solution,lukewarm water baths,oatmeal baths,topical and systemic steroids ,antihistaminics,emollients to moisturize skin and antibiotics in cases of secondary infection.
I sincerely advise you to take an opinion from a dermatologist and discuss these options with him.

Nitrate Medications for heart disease - The combination of vitamin C with nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or isosorbide mononitrate reduces the occurrence of nitrate tolerance. Nitrate tolerance is when the body builds up a tolerance to the medicine so that it no longer has its desired effect. People taking nitrate-containing medications generally follow a 12 hours on, 12 hours off schedule to avoid this tolerance.
I'm experiencing this same type of itching following a pelvic organ prolapse surgery. It seem to occur a couple of days after I was treated with "silver nitrate" during my 2 week post op visit for treatment of wound "granulation." Were you treated with "silver nitrate" following your surgery?
If in fact you are a type 1 diabetic, you should not be taking Amaryl. I would say to find yourself a new doctor if he/she thinks that Amaryl is appropriate for juvenile diabetes. But, perhaps there is something I don't know.
Otherwise, just cautiously play with your carbohydrate intake and your insulin dosages. Yes, I agree that a doctor should be consulted about this at first, but eventually you should be running the show.
You can become tolerant to long term nitrates but in general if you are taking it twice a day it is less likely you will become tolerant to the drug. Tolerance is related to the number of times you take the medicine and you should have a nitrate free interval of at least 12 hours per day.
