Avatar m tn Remember your most important eye is eye not had RD have it checked often.
Avatar m tn I was given Alphagan P for elevated pressure post cataract surgery in February in addition to some other glaucoma meds I was on prior to the surgery. I developed a very bad red eye, itching aching eyes, crusty dry skin eyelids, and other visible manifestations. In addition, the Alphagan affected my low light/night vision to the point I was having quite a bit of trouble seeing in other than bright outdoor light.
1108194 tn?1378424522 She is also on Glaucoma eye drops. She is experiencing extreme fatigue and she said her thoughts/memory seem fuzzy. How long do these side effects last? My mother is a small person who doesn't take any other medications except for the eyes. She works out everyday. She isn't up to that either. Does she have to get these every 4 weeks or can they space them out more or lesser dose?
Avatar n tn Thank you for the encouragement. It is interesting that I was placed on Alphagan P in my right eye after I lost most of my sight and it was at my suggestion when told that my left optic nerve was still changing that I called the doctor after my apppointment, and ask If perhaps I should start administering Alphagan P to my left as well. He responded that it was a good idea.
Avatar m tn His solution was to prescribe Pilocarpine eye drops to constrict the pupils, and although they were very effective, they had three disadvantages: (1) they gave me 'brow ache', (2) the effect wasn't long-lasting and worst of all, (3) they contricted my pupil way down to pinhead size, meaning that my night vision was almost gone.
Avatar n tn Dr. Stated Alphagan P was the best he could do with MEDS, and it did not do a thing so wants to do SLT which he says may not work or can make pressure worse. So if SLT does not work are my only options more riskier surgeries! Visual field gave been perfect for last 8 years, do not know if this hemorrhage has caused defects as yet! Are there not some other drops that could help? Hard to believe since I have only tried 3 different drops my options at this early glaucoma time are so limited.

Avatar f tn If you are going to trust your eyes and vision to this Eye MD you need to do what he says. Those are excellent suggestions. It possible you don't have glaucoma and are just a "glaucoma suspect" If you do have glaucoma there are other eye drops with fewer side effects you can try (latanoprost).
Avatar f tn You said your ophthalmologist felt that was the problem. I said 8 mm pupil in the dark is a problem, will cause symptoms and needs investigated by neuroophthalologist. If you have a big pupil that doesn't react well , and you don't want to try Alphagan-P (of course if you read about it it will list side effects, all medicines have side effects, many thousands of people bleed to death each year from aspirin.
Avatar f tn Because the main side effect of bromonidine (alphagan-P) is chronic redness it made no sense to me at all. What I am told by some of the Eye MDs that developed it are the concentration is much less and the basic molecule has been modified in a proprietary way so that the small blood vessels of the eye constrict but then don't get "rebound redness" the way Visine, Murine and other eye whiteners do.
Avatar m tn It does react slightly to light, but is still much bigger than my left eye. I have tried the poli drops which work, but cause me headaces and blured vision. This procedure would reduce my pupil size to a constant size of 3.5 mm, which would reduce glare from light and also help my cosmetic issues I have with the eye. Could someone who has had it done or performed it fill me in on how complex this surgery is? Any risks with it? Recovery time? Will my Insurance cover it?
Avatar f tn s talk in the terms of flat/steep.I tried Alphagan P/Brimosun P Eye drops and they do help gettin d vision clear at night but it results into a severe headcahe and heaviness of eyes and even my doctor said it has many side effects so avoid it.This is the worst thing I am facing which almost makes me impossible to go out at night.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Alphagen P for open angle glaucoma that in left eye that also has a cateract which is part of the problem and I have been put on a waiting list for cataract surgery. I havent used the drops yet. I did some more research on Alphagen P and cant find answers. Im hoping you can help. I have been taking Citicholine, Pine Bark, Ginko Biloba to increase blood flow to my optic nerve and lower eye pressure which they have.
Avatar n tn ve read that Pilocarpine does not have serious side effects. Low doses are even prescribed by pediatric doctors to children two and younger. My doctor said higher concentration (like 4%) of it induces brow ache but lower doses should not/do not. The first day I started Pilocarpine, I experienced mild brow ache and heavy eyelid. Second day was less. Third day onwards, none. It's been seven days today. I'm edgy with the thought of suturing the pupil to constrict it.
Avatar n tn Dear Sir, I have retina detachments in both eyes after surgeries I had eye pressure problems but on last visit to doctor on wednesday my eye pressure were normal 14 (Right eye) and 9 (Left Eye) I am using using Cospt, Alphagan, Xalatan( Twice a day and Pilocarpine 2% six hourly.
Avatar n tn He messages my IOP down to 30 to make sure implant is working and puts beta blocker drops in eye. Come back from lunch with pressure chef at 34. Come back in 2 weeks. Now on blue cap drops 2x/pd, beta blocker 2x/pd, and Latanoprost before bed time. Worried and not sure how to take this????????
Avatar n tn 5% for almost a year after getting a ReZoom lens inplant and having problems with Halos. My New doctor is concerned about the side effects and had me get a 1/8% ($40) solution made up at a compounding pharmacy and it didn't work at all. He's given me a 1/4% perscription, but as the .5% doesn't always work, I'm afraid it will just be throwing good money after bad. Are the side effects, especially the retina detachment, really such a concern on a .5% (1/2%) solution??
Avatar n tn I had a situation similar after my first vitrectomy. Pressure went to 38 and had pain in the eye. Was put on Alphagan P (I believe) and it went down in a couple days. I had to come in each day to check the pressure. On subsequent surgeries where I had to have steroid drops, they have prescribed the Alphagan to take as part of the drop regimen and has kept pressure low. You made a good decision to hold off on the second surgery until this can be stabilized.
Avatar n tn If you have big pupils you can try with your doctors permission alphagan-p at night as it keeps the pupil from dilating at night. If nothing works you can get a second opinion different office.
Avatar m tn and confirmed Aberrometry within normal limit...he suggested to try Alphagan P which completely removed the issue of ghosting and glare this was a year ago but now when I try it ,, it removes the dysphotopsia by 85 percent so something is progressing here and I don't know what it is ...
Avatar m tn DEFINITELY try something after confiring with eye MD and cardiologist. Other two types of drops (example Azopt and Alphagan-P are not associated with PVCs) See this link http://www.ehealthme.
Avatar n tn Many generics are not nearly as good as the brand names. For instance brominidine is not nearly as good as the glaucoma drop Alphagan-P but there are many that work as good as brand names. latanoprost is one of them. There are over 20 companies that make latanoprost. Studys have shown that some are underfilled and some produce drops that are so large that the bottle will not last the expected 6 weeks.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much for your response. Are there any serious side effects to these drops? They did precrsibe eyeglasses for her and she can see better, but the light really bothers her.She wears sunglasses to help. Again thank you very much for your help.
Avatar f tn do nothing and wait to see if gets better, drops like pilocarpine or alphagan-P, contact lens with iris and pupil on it, 'purse-string" closure of pupil. Only you and your surgeon can determine which is best for you.
