Common Questions and Answers about Allegra vs reactine

allegra

Avatar f tn I have been breaking out in hives for over a week now, as soon as my reactine wears off, dr prescribed 3 pills of prednisone that is not working im on day 2 am thinking I need reactine
Avatar f tn There is an older version of Astepro called Astelin which may stil be available to you, but the company is working to phase it out. Also a prescription strength antihistamine like Allegra might be a good idea. Feel better and hang in there.
Avatar f tn By lunch after the second time I took them my throat swelled to about 30% this happened to me last week on diff. Antibiotics and my doc told me to deal with it.
Avatar n tn (sorry) or if I take the steroid I can cough up huge yellow inch long mucus plugs. I take Allegra, Zyrtec, Claritin, Flonase and singular, albuterol nebs and inhaler, also famotidine 2x daily I was on advair for 2months and he said stop because it did nothing for me other than change sputum from slimy to chunky and is quite pricey for no results.
Avatar m tn Well I have had Hashimoto for the past 10 years, and I also have had allergy problems and have taken Allegra D for the past 4 years. I don't think allegra had anything to do with my hashimoto/hypothyroid.
Avatar f tn I'm with you!! Saline spray is really all we can use. But meds such as reactine and claritan are safe as well. Just ask the pharmasist when you go to the drug store. I personally use 24hr reactine and the hydra sense spray. Its what works best for me. I find the otrivan spray works but its only for short periods of time and sometimes makes you feel worse when it wears off!!
Avatar m tn My doctor told me that I should take Benadryl 50mg in the night and Reactine 10mg in the morning to relieve my hives symptoms.
Avatar f tn for about 6 weeks and developed an acne like rash all over my face, neck and behind my ears. I stopped it 6 days ago and have been on reactine during the day and benadryl at night but it's not going away. it's terrible! is there anything else I can do?
Avatar f tn The antihistamine I take is Reactine, I cannot tolerate many either, but this one seems to work for me and it doesn't make my symptoms worse. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one that gets affected by weather changes but too bad we do go through this!
Avatar m tn In the first place Zyrtec tends to make you drowsy and Allegra tends to perk you up. It would be pretty weird to take them together. I take Zyrtec daily and when my allergies act up I take a single dose of Benadryl which is short-acting. that works well for me.
Avatar f tn s when I decided to try the Allegra for the Paxil, problem. Just to let you know, I ended up taking 1/2 of an Allegra and the symptoms went away again. I woke up this morning feeling fine. The zaps usually start late in the day and are not bad. Just to reassure everyone....I have a doctor appointment Monday morning at 9am!!! I will not, however, take another Paxil! Thanks for all you help and input..
Avatar m tn Is it safe to take both Allegra-D and Zyrtec. In short, I suffer from allergies. I find that I feel best when I take a single pill of Allegra-D in the morning and a single pill of Zyrtec at night. In part, I have been doing this because I haven't had to go to the doctor (or Canada) to get more Allegra D so I can take it twice a day. I was wondering what the possible side-effects, besides fatigue, are of the regimen I'm taking? I've felt much better since beginning it.
Avatar f tn I've stopped taking Reactine for my dust and seasonal allergies, since I discovered I'm pregnant. And while I can suffer a congested nose for nine months, it won't make the experience very nice.... Can I take an allergy pill? And if so, which ones are safe while pregnant? Will rinsing with a nasal rinse work?
Avatar f tn Hi! Congratulations! If you were my patient, I would advise you to take the absolute minimum medication that you can get away with during the first trimester especially. BUT having said that, Allegra is pregnancy category C which means that it CAN be used in pregnancy if the benefits out weigh the risks. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Loratadine is considered a placebo by many doctors (and many patients that I have talked to). Zyrtec and Allegra are good choices. Since Allegra just came OTC, it will be much more expensive the Zyrtec generic. I take Zyrtec. Take care and feel better. God bless.
Avatar m tn Something alarming happened today. I took two allergy pills around 10:00pm. Around 12 pm I had a baowel movement. The stool looked... fluffy. Not diareah (-sp?) like, but spongy. There were two white things floating. When I looked closer I realized they were the allergy pills I took. It was Allegra D. Could this be the reason they haven't been working like they used to? I mean, they hardly looked like the outer coating was gone. Should I go to the doctor? Be alarmed? That was kinda freaky.
Avatar f tn Around 2 months ago I started getting flea bites and a month after that I developed a dry rash around my neck. Later on I started getting this pink itchy patches along my lower spine as well as my pelvic area. I've been to 2 doctors and both aren't sure of the cause, one believed it could possibly be a seasonal allergy. I've been taking reactine and it has helped with the itching but whenever I stop taking it the itching comes back.
Avatar f tn s prescribed prednisone (1/4 tablet out of a 50 mg tablet, once every other day) and Reactine (10 mg, 2x daily). The Reactine we've just started (been about 5 days now) and it seems to be making her worse - not sure if it's just pushing everything out finally, or if it's counter-active with the prednisone? Since starting adding the reactine into her daily life, it's making her nose runny with thick green mucous constantly!
Avatar f tn Benadryl is safe.
Avatar f tn I would sit tight till they open. These are such new drugs and only your Dr can give you the green light. You don't want to risk SVR unless you know for sure. .....
Avatar m tn At first it was coming and going every 4 days, then more frequent, eventually every 1 or 2 days. I took Reactine extra strength and it disappeared 1 to 2 hours later. I saw many Drs, and Dermatologists, no one gave an explanation, nor anyone thinks there is any relationship between the removal and hive. As the removal approached 1 year anniversary, the hive disappeared. I have been hive free since, kind of, meaning occasionally I still feel some itchiness. No more Reactine.
Avatar f tn I was on the prescription Reactine and Flonaise, but for some reason the ear and nasal swelling occurred anyway. I dislike the Reactine because it makes me retain water (10lbs) and makes me extremely drowsy because the prescription form doesn't come in non drowsy, and the regular form was no longer strong enough for me.
Avatar f tn I was OK to take Allegra. Ask your Dr. But I know Allegra is safe as well as benadril. And claritain. When in doubt ask a Dr.
Avatar f tn I have really bad allergies and can usually get away with just Zyrtec but this year they are way worse and my doc told me to switch it up and try Claritin or Allegra the Allegra seems to work the best when I also take a sudafed but don't take the combo one just plan Allegra and plain sudafed.
