Common Questions and Answers about Allegra for sinus

allegra

Avatar n tn For several mornings I have to clear my throat, and the roof of my mouth is very tender, when I try to clear nasal passage through mouth I have severe bleeding, this area is very tender and raw feeling. I have to apply pressure bandage to stop bleeding. I take Allegra allergy medication, and Nasacort nose spray. What can I do to stop tenderness and bleeding, and could this be infection?
Avatar f tn I had a doctor about 20 years ago that used to give me antibiotics every time I had a sinus infection. For about a year he was treating my sinus infections with multiples antibiotics, and the whole time it was allergies. Since I change doctors I have become immune to many antibiotics and it is hard for doctor to treat me for infections. Question is what do you think can be done and what I can do about stopping Allegra D; if I do I will have a sinus infection within one week or less.
Avatar f tn I have bad allergies so I take Allegra and over the past 5 years I have had several sinus infections and I have been on several different allergy meds and antibiotics. I started acupuncture this year and no sinus infection so far and I have cut all meds but Allegra out and found that even when I was not taking anything even Allegra that I was still so very tired and sleepy most every day which is why they did the EBV test and several other tests.
Avatar m tn I would try some OTC allergy meds like Claritin or Allegra. If you can afford to (sort of pricey at $20 for a 2 week supply) I would get Claritin-D or Allegra-D. They have an antihistamine as well as a decongestant. You have to get them from a pharmacist (behind the counter) and show your ID. I take Claritin-D daily for the same symptoms you have. I get bad headaches at night and my nose gets stuffed, with sneezing and runny eyes.
1402935 tn?1281958699 I was told it may be allergies. Was given Zyrtec. My sinus mucus swelled up so bad i could hardly breath and my face turned bright red. I did not take it again after that. I tried just general Benadryl and had the same reaction. Red face hard to breath through the nose. I was recently prescribed Allegra and am nervous to take it as it looks like it has a lot of the same medication as benadryl but stronger. Are these medications the same?
Avatar f tn I have really bad allergies and can usually get away with just Zyrtec but this year they are way worse and my doc told me to switch it up and try Claritin or Allegra the Allegra seems to work the best when I also take a sudafed but don't take the combo one just plan Allegra and plain sudafed.
2078979 tn?1332206668 If you perfer natural remedies, chamomile tea, vapor rub, hot chicken broth with a little cheyenne, lots of fruits and veggies-especially vitamin c. Netti pots work great for sinus problems, just make sure to use distilled water.
Avatar n tn Hi, ive been going to the doctor on and off for a year for what they believe is allergies/sinus infection they have perscribed me antibiotics/nasal sprays told me to take allegra after 4 months of this it finally went away and about 4 months later it came back my symptoms are dizyness, confusion, shortness of breath numbing of the head seems to be better when im laying down goes from ok to bad on and off threw out the day and iwould like a second opinion
1646392 tn?1333251893 I also found that actual psuedoephedrine (the kind you have to get from the pharmacy desk) works much better than the sudafed phenylephrine. Something else I have found that amazingly works WONDERS for unclogging the most clogged sinus....I think it's called "4 way" it's a sinus spray you can buy over the counter. I got the menthol/phenylephrine kind.
Avatar m tn Hi there, My son is 17 and having an awful time with seasonal allergies, Zyrtec seems to help a little, smae with allegra Benadryl helps more but he still looks and feels miserable. His eyes are intchy and red and his nose is runny and congested at same time with what he describes as a "itchy feeling" behind the bridge of his nose.
Avatar f tn I recently developed a cough that contains a bright green mucous. I was diagnosed with a sinus infectiona couple weeks ago and prescribed doxycyline and a z pack. I started feeling better so I stopped taking the antibiotic. I then began to develop fluid in my ears and a stuffy nose. I took a decongestant and stopped taking my daily allegra. I seemed to feel better for a few.days. I've never had a fever or headache with any of this.
Avatar f tn For ladies with Allergies what are you taking or doing. Claritin just doesn't seem to be doing the job. I am a stuffy, sneezey mess with watery eyes half the time. And I need to function so Benadryl is not an option unless I am able to sleep all day.
633143 tn?1262133535 For the past four years I have been suffering with near constant post nasal drip. At first it was seasonal, at its very worst this time of year (end of summer into fall), and it was semi-bearable. But now it is constant, pretty much all year round, and it’s like a faucet is constantly turned on. I can’t sleep, I always feel like gagging, and my stomach is always upset. I’ve lost 13lbs in the past few weeks just from not feeling like eating.
Avatar f tn I have bad allergies which is causing the coughing and they said I can use Claritin, Zyrtec or Allegra. Claritin does absolutely nothing for me, so I asked what about Claritin D and it has been linked to birth defects--- so thats a no... I tried zyrtec and still no relief... my body is intolerant to Allegra... so I just have to suffer until baby is out and I can go back on my allergy shots (which will be after I stop BF'ing)--- the worst part about it...
867954 tn?1356900863 I've had chronic sinus infections pretty much for years. I got a new doctor lately, who is a lot faster at seeing me, etc. Anyway, long story short lately I hear at times a thumping noise in my right ear mainly, it's only happened in the left a handful of times. When it happens in the right, it usually goes on for 24 hours at a time, obviously annoying enough to cause me some loss of sleep, aggravation, etc.
Avatar n tn Is doesn't sound like a sinus infection but rather allergies since your blowing clear. If you had a greenish color I would say its an infection. I've found Advil cold and sinus to be helpful for my sinus allergies. You need to make sure it won't interfere with medication you may currently take and also make sure your not allergic to it either. Others have found Allegra and Claritin helpful. You may also try a sailine rinse to help out.
Avatar f tn s a constant cycle. Constant headache behind my eyes and sinus congestion. I take Allegra D for sinus and Bultalbital (prescribed) for the headaches, but it barely takes the edge off. Been dealing with this for years... hopefully the ENT will have some answers I can share. Good luck to you all!
Avatar f tn Pred helped briefly, but after weens off, pressure builds up again. Tried sinus irrigations daily, allergy meds ( singulair, claritin, flonase, nasonex, allegra). He does not think this is allergy-related (he never gets congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, ect. Hx of exercised-induced asthma (no asthma problems otherwise). No sig. med hx. Alt. approaches tried(no help) He's left the state to deduct any environmental allergies/causes.
865758 tn?1285952904 t have any known allergies but know that i have allergies i take bendyrol to much it i wanna stop takin it, i was on a heart montior for 1 month an said that it was sinus tachcardia they have given me flonase nasal spray but that didn't help what did work was univert pills which settled my heart rate down to a healthy level but was told that was for a ear infection i did have vertigo but i think swimming had an impact on that i still have the increased heart rate.
Avatar f tn ve tried 3 different antibiotics for sinus infection. Also tried flonase, allegra, and Sudafed. Nothing seems to help. I feel pressure mostly in my forehead. I don't have any congestion with mucus or anything. I've had a sinus x-ray, CT scan, and MRI, which were all fine and showed nothing wrong with sinuses. I usually clean my ears out with a q tip after showering. I used to get some wax out, however, after this started, I can't get any wax out.
7827642 tn?1396958758 I have had more sinus problems in general with this pregnancy. I didn't have any with my last 2. They say your sinuses swell during pregnancy. I have had a little bit of a bloody nose every morning since I got pregnant.
