Avatar m tn After 5 months of this therapy, the patient developed membranous nephropathy. Complete remission of his nephrotic syndrome was achieved after 1 year of cyclosporine and corticosteroid therapy. During this same period, his chronic viral hepatitis B was controlled by entecavir. To our knowledge, this is the first case in which membranous nephropathy developed during pegylated interferon ?-2a therapy for chronic hepatitis B.
575214 tn?1218040360 Hi, Thin basement membrane disease (TBMD, also known as benign familial hematuria and thin basement membrane nephropathy) is, along with IgA nephropathy, the most common cause of asymptomatic hematuria. The only abnormal finding in this disease is a thinning of the basement membrane of the glomeruli in the kidneys. Its importance lies in the fact that it has a benign prognosis, with patients maintaining a normal kidney function throughout their lives.
Avatar n tn After months of intrusive tests following multiple infections, my daughter was diagnosed with mild nephropathy a few years ago at the age of about 8 or 9, and then diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes a few months ago (at the age of 13). After the "mild nephropathy" diagnosis, she went to a specialist every year for a few years to check on the kidney damage, and it didn't change (ie didn't get worse), so they said she didn't need to keep going back.
Avatar f tn Im 10 weeks pregnant and recently diagnosed with IGA nephropathy...I'm scared...Friday I have app.to go over the results.. I don't know what stage I have.
512560 tn?1222560127 I've been told I have IgA Nephropathy. The Doctor says 'it not a big thing' i.e it's nothing to worry about. And he says 'we'll monitor it.' The problem for me is that I get flank/loin pain, i.e if I walk/stand too long, I get a numb area around my side and/or back. If I cough, I get pain near my upper right rib [or not too far from it], it feels like I've been punched. The Doctor says it has nothing to do with IgA Nephropathy. Is he right?
Avatar m tn Typically sugar is not seen in the urine until blood sugars reach 200+ mg/dL. As a diabetic you are at risk for diabetic nephropathy, a kidney disease which is a complication of having persistantly high blood sugar levels. Docors ususally test for this by measuring microalbumin (which is a protein) in the urine.
Avatar f tn MSK does not usually lead to cortical thinning, so I wonder if something else might be going on like reflux nephropathy. People with MSK or similar diseases with a lot of nephrocalcinosis also almost always have more wrong on their 24 hour urine tests. I would suggest you seek a nephrologist or urologist at the nearest university medical center that specializes in kidney stones for further evaluation.
Avatar m tn Most commonly protein in urine appears with kidney diseases like nephropathy and damage to the kidney. If the quantity is more you certainly need a nephrologist's opinion at your earliest convenience. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn A neurologist for the nephropathy, and an endocrinologist for the diabetes and low testosterone. You may need to see your regular doctor to get a referral depending on your insurance. Good luck and I hope you get the help you are seeking.

Avatar n tn Hi, yes you need to see a nephrologist. It could be IGA Nephropathy or kidney infections. You need to be checked for shapes of those RBCs and 24 hour protein volumn plus a pelvic ultra sound.

Avatar n tn Microalbuminuria (persistent albumin in the urine) has been shown to be the earliest stage of diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease) in Type 1 diabetes and a marker for development of nephropathy in Type 2 diabetes. Microalbuminuria is also a marker of increased cardiovascular disease. An annual test for the presence of microalbumin should be done. Talk to your diabetes educator/doctor about gaining weight.
Avatar f tn 5mg everyday, for to treat the diabetic nephropathy, i can get ramipril in my town but its 5mg ramipril capsule in the chemists, and his medications are over, so should i let him take the 5mg ramipril? my big concern is would the dose cause hypoglycaemia or any other effects as the dosage will be double the dose hid doctor prescribed? please help me on that, i will be grateful...thank you.
Avatar f tn Generally only upper body itching is seen in cervical nephropathy and in hyperthyroidism due to increased sweating. Hence MRI of cervical spine and Blood test to rule out thyroid disorders should be tried. Other than that it could be urticaria or hives. Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection.
Avatar n tn my kidney disease is called membranous nephropathy--I never had the numbness until I started the meds for this disease-it was not so bad at first but now it is keeping me awake at night-I will read upon "amyloidosis"-I am not familiar with it thanks/Jerry
