585414 tn?1288941302 In acquiring tardive dyskinesia through the use of antipsychotics, I am trying to find out what is the best way for people to avoid acquiring tardive dyskinesia as it is often masked while it is advancing and if not caught in time emerges in severe forms such as in myself. I do know that psychiatrists will do tests for movement disorders. And that from what I have learned from psychiatrists that often a person with severe akathesia may develop tardive dyskinesia.
Avatar f tn I agree! I was told by two different trial sites to avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while on treatment. Also, by one trial to avoid milk thistle on treatment. Actually, avoid is the wrong word, the right word is, point blank, it is NOT ALLOWED by the trial site. Also, I was told the Cinnamon tablets/capsules are NOT ALLOWED by the trial site.
Avatar m tn you could try a diaphragm with a spermicide film over it. combining that with the withdraw method would be unlikely to result in a pregnancy.
Avatar n tn The surgeon who plans to implant a pump or conduct the trial for the pain pump may decide that oral meds need to be discontinued for a bit before the trial and implantation to get a real picture of pain control during the trial and to avoid having to use higher doses of post implantation meds during the surgical recovery period. Not all do but some do. Topical pain relief patches, anti inflammatory meds can sometimes help manage pain during that month .

Avatar f tn I'm a newbie here, does anyone have any info on this clinical trial? No interferon injections. All oral protease inhibitors & riboviron. I'm to start Aug. I hear riboviron is what makes everyone sick. I have bad allergies, skin issues (especially scalp), asthma and respiratory probs. Is this going to due me in? Oh, and depression! Help! I also don't want to go out on disability if I can avoid it.
Avatar f tn 5 after a blood test taken 5 days later, just enough to avoid a dosage reduction in my interferon after stopping the trial drug. The goal, from what I understand, is to keep those lymphocytes above .2 and anything from .5 and above avoids dosage adjustments. We went to blood tests two weeks later instead of one week later as a result, I'm thinking because it was expected the upswing would continue. Two weeks later, my lymphocyte count is back down to .3 again.
Avatar f tn Someone in my support group here is in a trial with Kaiser and taking SOC plus the Plough Shearing SI that has a number instead of a name. She's doing very well and will be done in 3 weeks.

Avatar f tn Its been a couple years since I have been here. I did a trial in 2013 with someone that was dosing based on tsh and I eventually gave up. Now looking back I have discovered that I probably was not absorbing the medication. I also know that supplementing with iodine likely sabotaged any progress I was making since is causes tsh to rise in addition to tanking my iron. These are my observations based on the last two years of monthly labwork.
215858 tn?1420171556 Your Hep doctor would have to be one of the doctors involved in the trial and is the one who decides if he puts you in or not. They each have a limited number of slots to fill. I was in a phase 3 trial, those slots fill up fast. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn d work for us type 1s, when my doc called and told me about a new trial I might be able to participate in: BI 201335 plus peg INF and riba. Already a Stage 3 trial, being fast tracked by the FDA; and they pay for everything!! Couldn't pass it up- my meager insurance won't even cover a single brand name medicine. Good news was the biopsy showed no progression of liver damage (PHEW!). Fast forward to week 4.
1398586 tn?1370589558 m sick of being pregnant like many do, as I know that my daughter will be here by Thursday regardless., I am doing so to avoid having another 7 MONTH recovery from a c-section like I had with my son. So, please do not reply if you are going to be negative.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the feedback. At the start VL was 4mil, day 7, 89. I'm on my way, ya-hoo! Today is the beginning of my third week. Very few sides. Mild fatigue at times but still go to the gym and swim the same as usual. Headachy, heartburn and sometimes just don't feel 100%, but nothing dramatic. I'm hopeful and grateful to be in this trial - riba & 7977.
Avatar n tn They said he has less than a year if he doesn't take the trial. Does anyone know of anyone who has has a successful clinical trial? My husband also has liver cancer too.
