Left ventricular hypertrophy results from an increase in left ventricular workload, e.g., during hypertension or aortic valve stenosis. Right ventricular hypertrophy results from an increase in right ventricular workload, e.g., emphysema or pulmonary embolization. These causes are fundamentally different from hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HCM), which is a congenital misalignment of cardiomyocytes, resulting in hypertrophy.
My echo and holter tests, being done also revealed mild concentric ventricular hypertrophy, with ventricular systolic function that is normal. Does anyone know how serious the hardening of the ventricular is?

Are you referring to the "possible RIGHT ventricular HYPERTROPHY"? That means the right ventricle meets certain criteria for hypertrophy on an EKG, which means enlargement. You mentioned left, I don't see that in your tests or is it a typo?
The only way I can think of to confirm if your right ventricle is in fact enlarged would be with an echo.
I was told that i have left ventricular hypertrophy and hypertension.I was started on B blockers.My home Bp has been 110/70 to 120/80mmhg since i started taking the B blockers, my daily dose is 1.25mg of Nebilet( B blocker).My question is can there be regression in the hypertrophy and i easily get anxious could it have been the cause of the hypertension and the hypertropohy.Thank you.
Left ventricular hypertrophy. I have been told that this is what I have. I have been told my heart wall thickness measures at about 1.3. I have no insurance except for my Vet Admin. benifits and they are VERY hard to talk with or get a straight answer from. Great doctors and nurses, but just way over worked to sit and talk with individuals. I started my problems with the typical shortness of breath and swelling of the feet and lower legs.
He said my EKG was abnormal, and that I showed signs of left ventricular hypertrophy, so he is referring me to a cardiologist and told me not to exercise in the meantime. I was wondering, if I do have left ventricular hypertrophy, what could have caused this and how do I treat it? Will I be able to row again this year? How serious is this condition? Thanks!
When a heart wall enlarges it may become stiff, and the lack of elasticity may reduce the filling capacity of the left ventricle, and/or lose contractility force. Either of which condition the cardiac output can be reduced causing symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, etc. I don't believe your mother's IVS, is a size that would be problematic.

The ejection fraction was estimated at 75%. I know LVH is not good and diastolic dysfunction is not good. My valves are ok. I have hypertension and take Lotrel 10/20 and hydrochlorthiazide 25mg. I also had a nuclear adenosine stress test recently.

I am sorry to read you are concerned about your heart. I don't understand how you came up with the "ventricular hypertrophy" but absent a diagnosis by a doctor I'd say don't decide you have some specific problem.
The first step is to talk your concerns over with your parents, and you may be able to talk with a school nurse (if one is available - I don't know what schools offer these days).

Even in the best of hands, the sensitivity for detecting LVH (Left Ventricular Hypertrophy) does not exceed 60%.
That would indicate a false positive at 40%.
Diagnostic accuracy for determining RVH (Right Ventricular Hypertrophy) and atrial enlargement is even less. Rarely will any one finding clinch the diagnosis. Instead determination of RVH is most often made by deduction (i.e.
An ECHO may help to evaluate the valves. The basic cause for the atrial flutter and fibrillation and the left ventricular hypertrophy needs to be dealt with. So, don't worry and discuss this with your cardiologist.
