Common Questions and Answers about Alendronate instructions

fosamax

Avatar f tn I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?
Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
Avatar m tn The prescription drug Fosamax (the generic is alendronate sodium) is a medication which has been prescribed to hundreds of thousands of postmenopausal women to treat osteoporosis and help increase bone mass thereby reducing the chance of spinal or non-spinal fractures. Fosamax has also been prescribed to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis. Brand name Fosamax is manufactured in the United States by Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc.
Avatar m tn The authors examined the effects of high-dose oral alendronate (40 mg daily) for 6 months on 3 adult patients with intractable headache due to fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Each patient had disease processes not amenable to surgery. The patients underwent clinical follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Their pain levels were documented at each visit by using a visual analog scale. All 3 patients demonstrated a significant decrease in pain levels and became independent of scheduled analgesics.
Avatar f tn I am also taking Aromasin for bc. Stopped alendronate (I am osteopenic due to 30 yrs of prednisolone and Arimidex) in case this caused the oesophagitis. Would appreciate your advice.

Avatar f tn Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.
1838380 tn?1329874153 s no way I could have gone back to work the next day (I had too much cramping) so I rested 2 days afterwards and then went back to work. He said to rest for 2 days after the ET and I followed those instructions. This last time though, I actually went back to usual life and even exercised (whereas I took it REALLY easy during the first two cycles). This last time was the one that worked, so who know's.
Avatar n tn Also, would it perhaps be possible to add some alendronate, or something else to help her bone density and still be able to benefit from the thyroid medication? Thank you so much!
Avatar f tn t think I have heard any downside to supplementing magnesium by the label instructions but maybe someone else knows something I don't. I have given it to Joe on and off. Maybe we should stay on? Magnesium Needed to Help Correct Insulin Resistance Monday, October 25, 2010 - Byron Richards, CCN Health Newsletter Details Magnesium deficiency is pervasive in America. And so is type 2 diabetes. I recently reported on this in an article titled Magnesium Intake Linked to Diabetes Risk.
Avatar f tn t have the instructional booklet in it. I followed the instructions on the official oraquick video, except the lid on the solution wouldn't pop off so I had to twist it. The solution didn't spill. The control line developed. Should I be concerned that my test didn't have the instructions in it? Everything else was normal. The tamper seal was not broken.
Avatar f tn I was wondering why I still had symptoms and I went back to look at the instructions to see if it had any information, this is when I realised I should of been taking one tablet twice a day! I’m away from home, so won’t be able to see my doctor. I know I should finish my dose, should I start taking two a day? Or should I visit a pharmacist and ask for advice? It’s been quite a bad infection and I’m just worried I’ve made the infection resistant to antibiotics with my silly mistake.
2059648 tn?1439766665 I started treatment in 12/2012 with the first doctor Joined Medhelp in 1/13 because of poor communication with the doctor and he didn't order the viral load test 4 weeks into treatment. Took the advice of HectorSF and got a new doctor, the best advice ever, after that everything was as good as it can get while doing the treatment. He was great at helping with side effects.
Avatar n tn s, but this has exponentially been exacerbated by Arimidex. For the past 2 yrs I have been taking a weekly bisphosphonate (Alendronate), plus twice daily Calcichew/Vit.D to help prevent further bone loss. Tamoxifen is prescribed for pre-menopausal patients, the AI's for post-menopausal. As I had a full hysterectomy some 19 yrs ago, I could go straight on to Arimidex.
Avatar m tn If you read the instructions and followed the instructions, the tests would be accurate.
Avatar f tn If your mom is a doctor, and specializes in this area, then run it by the doctor who prescribed the medication. If your pharmacist says take it every 6 hours, I would believe this over your mom if she is not a medical person. If the pharmacist's instructions are contrary to your doctor's instructions, call your doctor for clarification.
Avatar n tn Is there anything I should or should not do??? I was given no after care instructions, just told to come back in 6 weeks. My face hurts like a sinus infection, my eye itches like an allergic problem (I'm allergic to all "cains" and they used something with some in it) Can I take motrin? I asked and was told be back in 6 weeks, no one gave me any instructions of any sort.
