Avatar f tn I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?
Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
Avatar m tn The prescription drug Fosamax (the generic is alendronate sodium) is a medication which has been prescribed to hundreds of thousands of postmenopausal women to treat osteoporosis and help increase bone mass thereby reducing the chance of spinal or non-spinal fractures. Fosamax has also been prescribed to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis. Brand name Fosamax is manufactured in the United States by Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc.
Avatar m tn The authors examined the effects of high-dose oral alendronate (40 mg daily) for 6 months on 3 adult patients with intractable headache due to fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Each patient had disease processes not amenable to surgery. The patients underwent clinical follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Their pain levels were documented at each visit by using a visual analog scale. All 3 patients demonstrated a significant decrease in pain levels and became independent of scheduled analgesics.
Avatar f tn Oh dear. Zachary my PICA kitty was laying in a shoebox and I thought it would be funny to close the lid. Not so funny. It totally freaked him out and sent him into a "fit" that ended up in a seizure. He has had these episodes before about 2-4times that I know of. I notice it happens when he gets scared. That really must have scared him, me closing the lid.
Avatar f tn I wore contacts for many years and would occasionally have problems during allergy season with GPC, with the bumps actually big enough to drag on the contact lens and cause it to move so I had to stop wearing them temporarily. Unfortunately I'd often need to stop wearing contacts for a week or few, but fortunately the bumps would always heal and I could go back to wearing them.
Avatar m tn what is involved with the "screening process" once you are a canidate for the trial?
Avatar f tn Hi Jim, Thank you for your very thoughtful and comprehensive response. No, it does not surprise me to read your answer. I'm just grateful to have your response. I agree that the ANC level does not require an interferon reduction. Where you and I always "wrestle" on this one is that I want you to understand that not even my doctors have a choice on this one as it's the trial requirements. So therefore, my choice is to submit to the trial requirement or to get off the trial.
Avatar f tn It would depend on which trial you are trying to get in to as they all have different inclusion and exclusion criteria depending on several factors( genotype, being treatment naive, things like that) Yes you would have to apply individually. Here is the trial search page, it will help you to find one that might fit your needs as far as location and many other criteria that you choose to search for. http://clinicaltrials.
1644356 tn?1349783211 It really about your labs and biopsy genotype... My PSI 7977 trial had a BMI number that was important. Good luck. I took my last dose of PS! 7977 and BMS790052 yesterday. I also went undetected at seven days. Only minor fatique for the fist several weeks.. My study is screening also for genotype 1 and people who failed triple..
7540527 tn?1401187758 It really can be trial and error to get the best fit. Keep tring hon. And to be fair. a trial of a drug does take time. 6 to 8 weeks is a fair trial unless side effects are unbearable. Let us know how the psych appointment goes!!!

Avatar f tn I am also taking Aromasin for bc. Stopped alendronate (I am osteopenic due to 30 yrs of prednisolone and Arimidex) in case this caused the oesophagitis. Would appreciate your advice.
Avatar f tn s cpd (which is over diagnosed but basically means your doctor thinks the baby was too large to fit) they may or may not even give you a trial if labor. With every other scenario though, a trial if labor is the least you should be allowed.
1253197 tn?1331209110 my skin was considered okay and no precancerous moles or freckles so a step forward so I hope that I can remain stable for the next two weeks and then be reconsidered for the oral drug trial.

Avatar f tn Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.

Avatar m tn On March 17, 2011 I started treatment for Hep c in a clinical trial study sponsored by Roche through the Bronx, NY VA Hospital. At the baseline treatment on March 17, 2011 they initially took blood samples. The clinical trial doctor told me that my viral load for the March 17, 2011 blood samples was 27,000,000. Prior to that my previous lab tests viral load was 5,160,000 on February 17, 2011.
Avatar f tn I went to my RE today for my day 2 bloodwork and trial transfer. My RE was unable to get the catheter around my cervix due to the irregular shape. Has anyone ever had this happen? It was very painful because they kept trying with different catheters. My RE said he isnt that concerned, he did an us to take some measurements so when we do the actual transfer they will carefully map their route.

897070 tn?1320652629 Although the results are promising, they do not yet suggest that this drug is associated with a clinically relevant increase in SVR rates compared with those observed in treatment-experienced patients treated with telaprevir (Incivek) in the REALIZE trial and with boceprevir in the RESPOND-2 trial. A larger phase III trial is awaited. Adverse events and tolerability in the SILEN-C2 trial were similar to those described for the SILEN-C1 trial, with notable rates of jaundice (19.0% to 41.
Avatar n tn The sensation you describe can happen when you do not have adequate tear film, or "dry eye." I would ask ophthalmologist to test you for dry eye and assess the fit of the contact lenses. If all is well with respect to tear film and fit, then you might try daily disposable lenses to eliminate possible reactions to solutions, protein deposit buildup, allergens.
Avatar m tn To enter the clinical trial, a patients must fit the inclusion and exclusion criteria on the study and be willing to live in Dhaka, Bangladesh for at least 6 months. Your DNA count needs to be higher than 10 millions copies per ml of blood to qualify.
