aldara

Avatar n tn said it was contagious and could spread to other parts of her body or to someone else. She prescribed Aldara 5% Cream. It comes in 24 small application tubes at a cost of $639.00. Can anyone tell me the name of this condition? Thanks!
2206935 tn?1373642205 new 12,000 cervical cancer cases a year (mostly in women that have not had a pap in 5 years or more and in their late 40’s) and India has approx. 135,000 new cases. The US has approx. 4,000 deaths and India has approx. 75,000 deaths. Most women in India present to their Dr.’s or clinics in a late stage and thus the reason for the larger death rate. Bad medical advice is worse than no advice at all.
Avatar n tn Molluscum contagiosum can affect anyone of any age. Most occur in children aged 1-4 years. Since how long is your child having this? And how many lesions are present and where they are located? The mollusca will usually go away without treatment within 12-18 months. Having the rash does not limit your activities such as going to school, sports, swimming, etc. I would suggest that you wait for a period of 12-18 months and let them resolve spontaneously.
Avatar f tn then i began to notice 3 red blotches all vertically in a row near my vagina that itched.... (keep in mind it is not wear the warts are located. The warts are located all on the labia's so i apply a thin coat all around wich sometimes i feel smudges around into the creases of my vagina.Another thing is ever since i've been using it I couldnt help but be over anxious about the area so my hands were down there alot!
1655600 tn?1302165828 About 6 months ago, i noticed two white bumps in the opening of my vagina, that would itch and bleed occassionally. This was found after i was done with my last relationship(for that matter). The "pimples" stopped bothering me and as I had no health insurance at that time I couldnt afford going to a gyno. Two months later, i found a different type of pimple, flesh color, looking like a wart on my labia minora, very small and it would itch and bleed.
Avatar f tn took about 6 months to completely clear my first break out through freezing and Aldara. About 4 months after they had cleared I got a single wart, used Aldara and had it cleared and now a few more have showed up.. I will be using Aldara again. I have recently met someone and although we are taking it slow I am very upset, how would I be able to explain this to them? I am also so terrified to go to the doctor incase I hear anymore bad news. Is this going to last forever... seems like it..
Avatar n tn i'm hoping that within four years my body will have taken control of the virus and I'll be able to take all possible precatutions in not spreading this to my future children, but i would like to know what the precautions and chances still are. right now my main concern isn't with having children, it's with the aldara cream. I'd like to know if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Avatar n tn I also started using tea tree oil the days that I am not using Aldara,(aldare used three times a week) Basically, I still have visiably warts in the groin, they are smaller and red, no itching ever, even when they were bad and they have never hurt me at all, just have been in the groin area. I don't smoke and I rarely drink, also started taking vitamins and a mens one a day vitamin, to boost my immune system.
Avatar m tn I am sad and depressed because my ob made me feel like a **** and didn't really say anything except that I shouldn't have slept around and that I shouldn't have sex ever again. She subscribed aldara .5% cream and in have been using this med for a week now. I have severe itching and more warts have showed up on my labia and around the lips of my vagina. I don't know how long it takes for this cream to work. I just want the warts gone.
Avatar n tn But if your doct thinks the lesions were likely herpes, you should be tested for herpes simplex virus (HSV) by culture of the ulcers, if they are still fresh, and/or by blood testing for HSV-2 antibody. To date the research in imiquimod for MC is almost entirely limited to children.
Avatar m tn take a look he told me that it was HPV and prescribed aldara. I have not yet started the Aldara because I have read a lot of scary reports about sideeffects and other problems and as this is a family Dr. who treats mostly children I am going to get a second opinion. However he did not state what strain of HPV this could be from. From reading, most visible warts do not come from the high risk strains 16 and 18, but then I've read that 16 can present some visible symptoms.

Avatar m tn It generally affects children and typically occurs in the 2-5 age group. Treatment includes physical destruction or manual extrusion of the lesions, cryotherapy, and curettage. Unfortunately most of these lesions are painful and for these you need to consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.

Avatar n tn I have had molluscum for almost 14 weeks now and it shows no signs of slowing or going away. Most people have 5-10 pustules but I have approx. 30 in my groin area. They are small in size but I am at wits end with this virus. Would it be worth getting them all frozen off? It just seems very tedious and I do not know if it is necessary. I have already been given Aldara with no results. I have also "waited it out" like my doctor has told me. I just want to be rid of it.
Avatar m tn They are much more common in middle age and they tend to increase in prevalence up to age 60. Children and toddlers may also develop skin tags in the underarm and neck areas. Since they are thought to arise more readily in areas of skin friction or rubbing, tags are also more common in overweight people. Genital human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common virus. Most sexually active people in the United States will have HPV at some time in their lives.
Avatar n tn In most cases, molluscum is not contagiosum. Yes, that's right. I see cases every week, in both adults and children. Rarely does anyone else in the vicinity have them. I know what the books say, but I stand by my observation, which is repeated almost daily. I think there is no need for your doctor to use anything more drastic than liquid nitrogen. A few treatment are often needed, but not more. Nitrogen is gentle, safe, and doesn't scar.
Avatar n tn Now, he has had these for over 10 years because he said he had them even before we got together (we have been together for 10 years) I find this impossible to be HPV because he said he never had sex without a condom until we got together. In my past relationships, I did have unprotected sex. In ten years, we have had a lot of sex and all types, if this was HPV, wouldn't I have had some syptoms by now?
Avatar f tn Hello, Molluscum contagiosum is a common, benign, self limiting viral infection of the skin. It generally affects children and typically occurs in the 2-5 age group. Treatment includes physical destruction or manual extrusion of the lesions, cryotherapy, and curettage. You can get her treated for molluscum and then start with the treatment of eczema. In the meantime just keep her skin moisturized because eczema can be aggravated by dryness of skin.
Avatar m tn Molluscum contagiosum is caused by a virus. It is most common in young children, in whom it is transmitted by saliva shows up on the face, typically in kids in day care. People who don't have childhood infections remain susceptible, and in adults most infections are in the genital area -- just as in your case, often on the lower abdomen, pubic area, thighs, etc. Transmission is a little uncertain.
Avatar f tn I am 33 years old, I have been in a monogomous relationship for 18 years. I have only been with 1 person. He had at least 10 sex partners before we were together. I just found out 2 days ago he had a 1 night stand 3 months into our relationship. We have 3 children, my last was born June 2008. During the pregnacy, i noticed an anal wart. It was only one, but rather large, and about 1/8 inch from my rectum. I just brushed it off as a hemmoroid.
Avatar m tn That is a skin to skin, not necessarily genital to genital, transmission. It is often found in preschools, passed between children, but is also a sexually transmitted infection. I'm wondering about that and you. I think that HSV testing would be helpful for you in this situation because of the symptoms that your wife has. Would they agree to do an antibody test for her or only swabbing? Depending upon where you live, you can most often order theses tests yourself on the internet.
Avatar n tn I went to 2 dermatologists and they couldn't be sure what it was, likely HPV but might not be. Gave me Aldara and gone in a week. Both docs said immune system often clears HPV in 6 mos - 2 yrs. wait a few months, have as much sex as you want. In the STD forum of this site the response was also to wait a few months and have sex, even if I did previously have HPV. Don't worry about it -- it's no big deal. HPV is supposed to be highly contagious. Why not worry about it?
Avatar f tn ) However, I have had a dormant strain of HPV pop up in the form of genital warts, due to cell changes from the pregnancy (which I found is very common). I had my first treatment of TCA today. Everything is just looking a bit white down there, but my question is...Do the warts just flake away? When is it safe to have intercourse with my husband? (The warts are not near my vaginal opening.) I suppose I should have asked my doc! Lol!
Avatar n tn My doctor burnt them off, but 2 or 3 weeks later I got another one in a different area in my pubic hair region, I burnt it off and now today, 2 weeks or so, I found a few more in my pubic hair region. I read that there is such a thing as low risk HPV... Does this mean I have high risk and that I have no chance of them ever going away? Or will I be able to live like a normal male again and get my self-confidence back? I just want to live normally again...
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone I have lived in Thailand for 5 years and have a Thai wife and a 2 year old son. Seven months ago I went to Pattaya(notorious for it's nightlife and hookers)for a weekend with the boys. Got very drunk and ended up having sex with a hooker and the condom broke. Had anal and vaginal sex, unprotected for about 10 mins.
Avatar n tn 4) If my body mounts a response to the virus, is there a possability of me passing it down to my children in the future? 5) If I touch a lesion on one part of my body, and touch another part of my body will the virus spread to that part? What is autoinnoculation? 6) It seems that some of the lesions in the groin area do not respond to the freezing. They get smaler but do not go away, does this mean that freezing is inneffective or that the treatment needs to be stronger?
Avatar n tn I hope that other readers of this post and you, doctor, have learned something new about Molluscum here(given my dermatologist a is not a quack- I think-and hope- he is not)-namely, that there can be hair involved in molluscum. He said that he sees molluscum in children about daily, and sees it in adults about weekly. He then gave me several options for what to do then and there.
Avatar n tn I'm in my late 20s & practice in health. Dx. with HPV in Summer of 2004. Prior to dx. visited +/-10 docs over 6 mos. because no one could confirm why I had a sudden onset of chronic vaginal problems after my 2nd partner removed the condom w/out my knowledge. One doc., finally dx. me with HPV. Next doc. performed LEEP. Next several docs. informed the doc followed outdated guidelines &I was too young for a LEEP.
Avatar n tn Other than sex, the best bet is contact with young children. Most cases of MC occur in toddlers, who get it by salivary contamination, such as mouth exposure to shared toys in a daycare setting. As for your sex partners: Most likely you caught it from whoever you were having sex with in the 2-3 months before the problem started last October. You should speak to that person so that she (assuming it's a she, not a he) can get checked.
