at the time i assumed i was allergic to one of the 7? liquors in long island so i just never drank long island again and figured i was fine even that night i continued drinkining after that and i was fine i drank quite a bit that night...well not long after i had the same reaction this time to a crown and coke..which i had drank before....ok then i was scared..so i didnt drink for about 2 months then i had an irish car bomnb one night and i had the reaction...

I work from 8 to 5 so a typical day I might have a couple glasses of wine (about 12-16 ounces) with dinner( I eat really healthy). On average, I might have a long island (for example) a few nights a week (on weekends & maybe one night a week). Today, Sunday, I had a mixed drink around 2 pm with maybe 2 ounces of Vodka with 6 ounces Orange Juice. Then later in the day I had a long island, which is 6 ounces of alcohol in a 12 ounce glass. I had these in about a three hour period.
I was aware and scared, but still was drinking. I did alot of court imposed rehab due to DUI. DUI/Courts/Lawyers/Rehab are big business raking in a lot of money. Rehab relies heavily upon AA. People think you can't do it without AA. I guess it depends where your head is. I wanted to be "cured." I did what they said. I quit for a while. I wore the ankle bracelet, I did time in jail. It did not work.

Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.
Its a small place only 10-15 patients its on the ocean and one of the few places that still does detox and rehab in the same place on long island.
Okay, so I was at my moms house and she had gone out for a while to the store. I got thirsty and poured myself what I believed to be tea. I was really thirsty so I took 3 big gulps before I realized I wasn't drinking tea. It was actually a pitcher of long island iced tea. I am worried that my baby will get sick orhurt by me ingneverg the liquor. I am also scared it will put me into premature labor and I'm not due for three weeks.
That is 1) We admitted we were powerless over alcohol, and that our lives have become unmanageable. So many people get through the detox, at home (which can be dangerous and is often done though a medically supervised detox).It's like it's all or nothing. Those that don't have the opportunity to go to a residential / outpatient Rehab Facility do not instead go to an Addictions Therapist and use them for the therapy that is many times necessary to quit an addictive substance.
Detoxing off of alcohol cold turkey can be very dangerous if the person has developed a profound dependance on alcohol. There can be very very serious, even life-threatening withdrawl symptoms.
If he's at the point where he's puking from withdrawl it may not be safe for him to detox on his own. I would seriously SERIOUSLY consider having him detox in a hospital or rehab center. Not only will they treat his physical state so he can detox safely, they'll help treat his alcoholism.
Help..I'm on day 2 from going cold turkey from heavy alcohol abuse. How long will the anxiosness n sweats last?
A few days ago I went out with some friends and drank way to much, 2 shots of Tequila and 2 long island Ice Teas. This is alot for me and I was super sick. Two days later 2 bruises showed up, one on the top of my thigh and the other on my inner arm. I asked the people I was with and I did not injure these areas at all. The bruises are not purple they are just very dark small patches. I am going to the doctor however I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this before.
I did not really like alcohol in my teens and twenties. During my thirties I discovered wine coolers and progressed to wine, but never more than three glasses, certainly not on a daily basis. Then followed divorce, nursing school, and I drank wine as a reward after studies over. I think I really escalated after graduation when I got my first job and could afford more and also when my children were gone to college.
I am now remarried to a great guy who does not drink at all.
is there an online doctor that can give u the rx...i know the protocol to get through this but i know my physician will want to send me to rehab...i cant do rehab right now....
thats all i can do if ne body reads this and knows of a rehab in NY state(preferably in upstate or on long island) that alllows clients with anxiety problems to take benzo medication any feedback would be more than greatly appreciated im freaking out i had this plan in place and it got the rug pulled out from under it
