Avatar n tn My 18 yr old granddaughter has been arrested for calling her boyfriend who had a restraining order against her. She also has pending, stealing cigarettes, verbal abuse to a nurse, breaking a car window in an argument with someone & we did not post bail & would like to get power of attorney & see if we can have her put in a rehab. She has been on a downward spiral for at least 4 years. We know she drinks & are pretty sure that she takes various drugs. What can we do?

Avatar m tn So, you’re right to look for cheap rehab centers. You don’t have to break into a bank or go broke in the name of getting off drug and alcohol addiction.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of a good (effective) detox/rehab facility in Tampa Bay/St. Pete area? Son prefers non-residential but has rather large addiction to roxicodone /oxycontin. This is all so confusing and depressing. . seems so many people are trying to make big bucks at desperate people's expense (and I don't mean just dealers!) No one is really giving me much hope of permanent freedom from this drug for him, either.
1065007 tn?1255540445 You may find that going to 2 meetings a day can give you the same benefits as a rehab. They will also assist you in finding a good rehab being they go to all in the area to speak and help those fighting their illness. You will be surrounded by people who will give you support, love, rides to and from, and place to go for a good part of everyday. The other thing ask to join them going to a commitment so you can get an idea what they are like.
Avatar n tn After you detox and you no longer have insurance benefits for any rehab, what do you do? My grandson just checked into a detox facility but cannot return to his home. He is detoxing from oxy, valium, alcohol and was on a binge after 10 weeks clean. I dont know what to do to help him without enabling him..any suggestions? He is 18 last month so we dont get any info from detox facility.
Avatar n tn We have talked about CCF in Ohio they had very good stats and specialize in HCM. I would talk with the HCMA they will know all the HCM specialty centers and the stats.
Avatar f tn I live in California and it doesnt cover birthing centers. I did a quick google search for Ohio and it doesnt seem to be covered over there either. It will probably cover midwives but if you want to give birth somewhere other than a hospital, you will probably have to pay out of pocket.
Avatar n tn Hi Lisa, I was here back in 2007 before you even had your second daughter, I just go by a different name now. I had actually been thinking about you recently because I am pregnant, almost 12 weeks now and it was not planned and I've been on Suboxone for over 450 days now due to a horrible addiction.
1175931 tn?1263809505 Get your phone book out. Look up detox and rehab centers in your area. Whether you have health insurance or not there are places you can go to get detoxed. That is the beginning. Then the work begins. To figure out why you are doing this. It sounds like it started with back surgery. But that is just a symptom.. There is something that is making you afraid or sad or both that makes you feel a need to numb yourself. I use to do this with alcohol.
Avatar n tn My husband has been addicted to various drugs and alcohol for over 10 years. His current problem is opiates, xanax, and alcohol. But he'll basically take whatever he can get a hold of. He's tried quitting on his own a bazillion times, only to fail within a few days. We even moved out of state to where he didn't know anyone to buy from, but he just replaced drugs with loads of alcohol. This has caused lots of strain on our relationship and I initiated a seperation last week.
1530342 tn?1405016490 html COLUMBUS, Ohio (Reuters) - Ohio Republican Governor John Kasich on Thursday signed into law a bill that allows gun owners in the state to carry concealed weapons into bars and other places where alcohol is served. Avatar f tn What we were looking into is an in patient drug and alcohol rehab. I have looked at the quality treatment facilities in my area, given the fact that he was detoxed while a patient at Johns Hopkins he wants to continue his recovery on that front, for the most part the treatment facilities available within a distance of Hopkins (should something happen) are either inner city Baltimore and horrible, or out of network for our health insurance and crazy expensive.
Avatar f tn That is 1) We admitted we were powerless over alcohol, and that our lives have become unmanageable. So many people get through the detox, at home (which can be dangerous and is often done though a medically supervised detox). It's like it's all or nothing. Those that don't have the opportunity to go to a residential / outpatient Rehab Facility do not instead go to an Addictions Therapist and use them for the therapy that is many times necessary to quit an addictive substance.
Avatar n tn Detoxing off of alcohol cold turkey can be very dangerous if the person has developed a profound dependance on alcohol. There can be very very serious, even life-threatening withdrawl symptoms. If he's at the point where he's puking from withdrawl it may not be safe for him to detox on his own. I would seriously SERIOUSLY consider having him detox in a hospital or rehab center. Not only will they treat his physical state so he can detox safely, they'll help treat his alcoholism.
Avatar n tn If not, i have instructed my children to donate my body to a medical research facility so that maybe they will know someday. If any body knows of any centers that do this kind of research that information would be appreciated. Thanks again for taking the time to respond doctor.
Avatar f tn Most rehab centers take care of the detox the first week or so that you're there. I know the ones I checked into do. Also, stay away from Ultram. It will open a can of worms you don't need to mess with.
762652 tn?1256610399 Hi there, I am new to this site and just wanted some advice. Just the other night I drank two 750ml bottles of cabernet. I have been drinking since I was 15 years old. I don't drink everyday, but when I do...I usually don't stop. Unless, I am tired from work or just don't feel like drinking after a few sips. Anyhow, I went into an asthma attack/[panic attack after I believe I drank too much. Would this seem right? My BAC was .20.
Avatar n tn If someone has a blood alcohol level of 4.5%, does this mean that they are intoxicated?
317822 tn?1223241475 Detox gets you off the drugs safely, and a little of what rehab does. Rehab deals with learning about your addiction and how to live life without drugs. Once you are done with detox, they will help set you up on some continuing aftercare activities. Like an inpatient rehab, or outpatient rehab, a psychiatrist to follow your meds etc. that kind stuff. Hope this helps?

Avatar f tn You seem to be over the worst of the physical, but don't be suprised when you stop taking those 4 a day if you don't feel some withdrawal again. Rehab can work well for some people. I did rehab a few years ago, I did outpatient rehab. I went to the center M-F from 8:30a to 4:30 pm. We did have an evening "class" every week for family members to come and get involved in our recovery.
Avatar f tn Not all rehab centers are equal. Many if not most try to do it too quickly with a one size fits all approach, whereas an individual psychiatrist who really knows his stuff will go at your pace. Not that those are easy to find! By the way, you need a new psychiatrist. The one you have doesn't seem to realize he works for you.
660680 tn?1225215237 That is why it has struck me as odd that rehab centers seem to have sugary things for the recovering alcoholics to eat. So here is my question, when you were on the wagon did you have a "sweet tooth"? If you did then your alcoholism may be easier to control than you think. With hypoglycemia, as the blood sugar drops the person tries to raise it by eating sweets (or alcohol). But this only further depresses the blood sugar, creating a vicious circle.
