I was put on Aggrenox/Aspirin after my stroke about 2 months ago. Does anyone on the same treatment take any kind of Vitamins/Herbs with this medication?
Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
Aggrenox does have aspirin in it. It is recommended for strokes, as you already know. I'm not sure why the Dr has taken away the Aggrenox. Maybe he feels that taking aspirin is equivalent with less side effects? Aspirin does work well to help prevent stokes and heart attacks. So, there was no reason given for the change?
if you are on blood thinning medication for health reasons, you need to discontinue this medication as noted prior to procedure....you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure.
Just looking for anymore information or advise about withdraws from Fioricet / I have been taking this medication from years from Migrain headaches, it's seemed the longer I was on it the less it helped so I would increase my doses because I could not get rid of my headaches the other day I just stopped using it because it was like just this non stop headache.

They're a couple so it's very hard. But I know there are problems with addiction for both of them. I figure the more knowledge I have the more prepared I will be. About 1-1/2 months ago he started experiencing mild itching on his legs and has now become chronic all over his body. Most of his meds have rash and itching side effects. Aggrenox was just changed to Plavix, but the itching has not stopped. 325mg of aspirin is also a future consideration as a blood thinner. He was given Ativan 0.5mg two days ago to stop the itching. The first night he practically scratched two wholes in his paralyzed arm.
I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?

Stroke and sleep disturbances are commonly found together.
There should be a prescribing information sheet included with a prescription medicine that will list known side effects.
I think your local Pharmacist would have this information. If not they will probably get it for you. They are the true experts in medication and prescribing law and best of all their service is free.

to Mayo and with all saying the same its still not sinking into this head... there is no fix... He has been sent home on a blood thinner (aggrenox) as to not thin the blood to much... With a healthy heart pumping against a 20% opening (when last tested)... So at night he is on oxgen to slow down the heart at night, for the heart pumps harder as ones breathing slows as we sleep... We live 30 mins from the closest hospital which isn't set up to handle this so life fight is another step...
I take 16 or 17 medications including the all inclusive plavix. a 3.25 aspiriin. AGGRENOX,Zocor,and a host of others.I watch my diet and exercise until it hurts to prove to my Dr. that I'm not just lying around. With your "scientific ' MINDS can you help?
Hey again... okay, actually... I just checked the prescribing information of Lexapro and apparently it is actually not a good idea to take any sort of NSAID at the same time as Lexapro... so, if you're taking ibuprofen it is probably a good idea to not mix the lexapro and ibuprofen and I wouldn't suggest getting a prescription NSAID after all.
Usually the prescribing information says something about when side-effects tend to go away... but, I couldn't find it. But...
Will you be prescribing 6 month treatment on triple therapy with in incivek for people who have stage 4 early child, cirrhosis, treatment naive with a CC ILB28 and have undetectable VL on week 4th and weelk 12 or will you be prescribing 48 weeks of treatment?
I have a great concern that my mother’s family practitioner is over prescribing percocet’s to her. Drug addiction runs in our family and we lost our brother to an overdose last year. She had a knee replacement last February and we think he is prescribing these medications for knee pain. She doesn’t go to her orthopedic any more. We found one prescription dated 12/11/12 for 60 pills and then another from the same doctor filled on 12/27/12 at a different pharmacy.
What can we do?
