Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
Aggrenox does have aspirin in it. It is recommended for strokes, as you already know. I'm not sure why the Dr has taken away the Aggrenox. Maybe he feels that taking aspirin is equivalent with less side effects? Aspirin does work well to help prevent stokes and heart attacks. So, there was no reason given for the change?
I was put on Aggrenox/Aspirin after my stroke about 2 months ago. Does anyone on the same treatment take any kind of Vitamins/Herbs with this medication?
During my one-week post-op checkup following bilateral explantation of Visian intraocular lenses, my opthalmologist commented that I have contusions (I assume bruising) on my anterior capsule in my right eye. I experience more blurriness and haziness in this eye in general, as well as starbursts from light sources. Any explanation of what exactly this means clinically and prognostically would be appreciated.
I have opened the capsule and had to mix the contents of it with apple sauce. I would like to know if this is ok, since I could not find any other referrence for my question.
1. what is the 'capsule' referred to in cataract posts. Is it the recess into which the implant is inserted?
2. post-op blurring can be either in the capsule or in the implant, I read. YAG laser clears both?
3. How is it that a plastic implant can get a cloudy spot?
I am currently going through some complications and have an open wound... the exact cause is unknown... but I have been trying to limit my upper arm movement to suppress fluid build up.
In that case, I cannot do much exercise or massage or compression as you can imagine... as I need to let the open wound (just below my crease) heal first...
In your opinion, what other things I can do to help prevent future capsular contracture or to loosen the capsules forming?
I had my right eye cataract surgery in April 2010. The posterior capsule developed opacity after a few months. For the past 6 months, every time when I wake up from sleep or open my eyes after closing for a while, there is a transparent screen/curtain which moves up and down as I blink. The reason that I can tell there is a moving transparent curtain is because it s not totally transparent. Sometimes, it looks like glass window after cleaning having some fabric fibre left on it.
ive just started taking evening primrose oil and have also inserted a capsule in my cervix..I ooened the capsule..and then had sex after (which I hate at the moment as so uncomfortable! ) and I have lost some of my mucous plug. Evening primrose oil softens the cervix making labour and delivery easier and quicker apparently. .and reduces chances of tearing so this is why I am doing it.
If your bottomed out breast requires a capulorraphy yet the implant demonstrates some degree of existing capsule contracture, then treatment would require release or excision of the capsule in its superior position, along with shoring of the capsule inferiorly to treat the problem. You want the superior aspect of the capsule to remain widely open and the inferior correction to heal and keep the breast elevated. No pill will assure either will occur.
After doing some of research on various IOLs I had a Crystalens implanted in my nondominant eye. The implantation was difficult and my eye was open for approximately 80 minutes. In a follow up three days post op. I was told that my pupil had some irregularity, but that it would probably resolve on its own. I was also told that there was some clouding of the posterior capsule which would probably require a YAG proceedure.
It is absolutely amazing. Use a pin to pop open the capsule, have your partner duo some perineal massaging to help you get ready so you don't tear. Then insert one capsule every night. When you're like a week away from your due date do 2 capsules. This will ripen and thin your cervix. Oh! & sex, sex, sex!!
I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?
With herbs you can just open the capsule and pour the powder in water -- make a tea -- with most of them, but you can't do that with medication. Part of this may also be psychological -- try just drinking it down without tipping your head or doing anything unusual, just as you would swallow just water. (Can you tell I've had this problem?

evening Primrose oil gel capsules open one up and apply the oil to cervix , 2 times a day to soften cervix ! I started last night one application .. will keep you all posted , I'm 37 wks & 3 days.
Delay any YAG posterior capsulotomy to open the cloudy membrane behind the implant, since an open capsule will make an intraocular lens (IOL) exchange more difficult and risky. All other possible causes of decreased vision should be evaluated and addressed before deciding on IOL exchange: corneal surface problems, macular edema, epiretinal membrane.
