Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
Aggrenox does have aspirin in it. It is recommended for strokes, as you already know. I'm not sure why the Dr has taken away the Aggrenox. Maybe he feels that taking aspirin is equivalent with less side effects? Aspirin does work well to help prevent stokes and heart attacks. So, there was no reason given for the change?
I was put on Aggrenox/Aspirin after my stroke about 2 months ago. Does anyone on the same treatment take any kind of Vitamins/Herbs with this medication?
1. what is the 'capsule' referred to in cataract posts. Is it the recess into which the implant is inserted?
2. post-op blurring can be either in the capsule or in the implant, I read. YAG laser clears both?
3. How is it that a plastic implant can get a cloudy spot?
I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?
During my one-week post-op checkup following bilateral explantation of Visian intraocular lenses, my opthalmologist commented that I have contusions (I assume bruising) on my anterior capsule in my right eye. I experience more blurriness and haziness in this eye in general, as well as starbursts from light sources. Any explanation of what exactly this means clinically and prognostically would be appreciated.
Saw the surgeon a month after cataract surgery, and he says I have a wrinkled capsule. I had complained about blurry vision. He said it's possible that I had it prior to the surgery, but all the reading I've done indicate that it's similar to a PCO (secondary cataract), and occurs after cataract surgery. He wants to wait for an exam by a retina specialist before going ahead with the YAG.
He said that the lens was correctly located and the capsule intact. He proposed to treat it conservatively for another few weeks and if not resolved to do a simple procedure to "suck out" the gel. When I inquired if he had used a different surgical procedure based on the fact that he knew I was on Flomax he replied that he had not.
I am a HBsAG positive since 2000, few days back i went to consult a doctor , and prescribe me Silbostin Capsules 2 times a day for 2 weeks. I went to buy in a pharmacy,they told me its a dangerous capsules. So please tell me what is this capsules and is it the idea of taking this pills will help me? I am a 30 years old male.
Dr. Hagan, I would like your opinion about going back to the OR to polish the capsule in a case where it is not clear if a patient’s positive dysphotophasia is caused by PCO or the Crystalens HD? This would be in place of a YAG which would make a lens exchange a more risky procedure if the problem was not the PCO. Is the capsule tearing during polishing a major concern?
to Mayo and with all saying the same its still not sinking into this head... there is no fix... He has been sent home on a blood thinner (aggrenox) as to not thin the blood to much... With a healthy heart pumping against a 20% opening (when last tested)... So at night he is on oxgen to slow down the heart at night, for the heart pumps harder as ones breathing slows as we sleep... We live 30 mins from the closest hospital which isn't set up to handle this so life fight is another step...
I take 16 or 17 medications including the all inclusive plavix. a 3.25 aspiriin. AGGRENOX,Zocor,and a host of others.I watch my diet and exercise until it hurts to prove to my Dr. that I'm not just lying around. With your "scientific ' MINDS can you help?
In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.
you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure.
drink 1-2 full cups water 60 minutes prior to injection. eat a LIGHT meal.
Hello. I had torn join capsule(thumb). It was immobilized for 20 days and now I should move it. The doctor said that when I move it, I might feel slightly pain, but when I try to press something with my thumb I feel very sharp pain. I am getting depressed, because I am not pretty sure what I am supposed to do. I will be very pleased if you could tell me!
During the surgery the capsule was ruptured, debris was released and YAG laser was used to clean it up. Still lots of debris floating around and my eyesight is about one fourth to one half what it ws before surgery. After two months I had the left one done and with the same results, a ruptured capsule. After three weeks I have no sight in the eye at all. Nothing but bright light through an opaque material. The Doctor put a suture in the left eye and after three weeks it is still there.
I have opened the capsule and had to mix the contents of it with apple sauce. I would like to know if this is ok, since I could not find any other referrence for my question.
It's been 10 days since the PVD occurred in my Left eye. Since then I developed pain around the orbit
of my eye and with movement which has gotten worse. My retina specialist would not see me because they said the pain wouldn't be due to a PVD. I was told to call my Glaucoma Specialist which I did. My doctor got me in the same day and he told me I now have inflammation in the Anterior Capsule of that eye. I wrote this down so that's how I remembered what he called it.
