Aggrenox and epidural

Common Questions and Answers about Aggrenox and epidural

aggrenox

Avatar f tn Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
Avatar f tn My mother had a stroke about 5 months ago and we are considering opening the blood thinning aggrenox capsules and giving her half the dosages with applesause. She is already on the lowest dosage available. It's always a crapshoot to take the chance to alter medication as your doctor will tell you. The only thing aggrenox does is allow the blood to get through areas where the passages are very small due to calcification etc., so keeping the blood thin is important.
1013028 tn?1250923267 Though the drugs of choice for a lupus anticoagulant are heparin and warfarin (coumadin), Plavix may be administered additionally to prevent arterial thrombotic episodes. Aggrenox has the same action as Coumadin. The choice of drug and management plan differs with different doctors and the risk factors of the patient. Please discuss the management plan with your doctor. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn Does anyone take vitamins/herbs with aggrenox and aspirin?

NOw on Aggrenox and off Effient but on all the other same meds Additional info: Since Jan, I quit smoking, lost 45 lbs, lowered LDL by 300 points (to 127) and raised HDL by 25 pts(to 40) lowered triglic to 70. what the heck?
Avatar n tn I cut the Gabapentin to a lower dose and I think it was from another prescription Plavix and they changed it to Aggrenox I am doing fine now. Age is a bummer. I feel 30 but my body does not realize this! Smile.I appreciate your time and answer. Have a wonderful Summer.
Avatar f tn She has severe arthritis in one knee in particular and has difficulty rehabbing because the knee fills with blood due to the arthritis and she cannot get to the point of standing to do the therapy. The coumadin has left her depressed, dizzy, cold and overall loss of appetite. She wants to recover but this drug is very difficult. It comes to the point of quality of life...she is 77 years old and we want to start looking at something else besides coumadin? Any suggetions?

Avatar m tn I take 16 or 17 medications including the all inclusive plavix. a 3.25 aspiriin. AGGRENOX,Zocor, and a host of others.I watch my diet and exercise until it hurts to prove to my Dr. that I'm not just lying around. With your "scientific ' MINDS can you help?
Avatar m tn He tried Plavix(was allergic) and Aggrenox which increased the headache frequency. We are just at a loss with his current neurologist and feel he is at a loss of what to do. We are seeing a new neurologist on Thursday with the hopes of finding something that will help. As far as the sleep apnea, I will hopefully get him convinced to try something new as I realize the CPAP is of great importance. Just looking for any kind of suggestions of what to try.
Avatar f tn The further along I get the more I am thinking about actually giving birth and I have been researching the pros and cons of getting an epidural. I just wanted to hear some experiences from anybody that did and if so what was your experience with it? If you didn't why not?
Avatar f tn you shouldn't really feel much if you have an epidural (thats the point) that being said with an epidural you do have an increase risk of tearing because you cannot feel anything and may push baby out faster then your body is stretching(so if you dont have a great/patient dr that will guide you threw that part it could be bad) and typically you tear less then what they might cut you.
Avatar f tn t get the epidural but im getting induced tomorrow night with cervidil and I keep reading bad things about it. And to be honest I'm so scared now =| im nervous and I can't stop thinking that its going to hurt alot and I won't be able to handle it...
Avatar n tn In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.
Avatar f tn I felt the same way and had anemia but I went through with it without epidural. I had heard about bad side effects to it. I'm pregnant again and almost due, also anemia but I wont do epidural. At the end of the day it would be your choice but I think you would do just fine.
7627361 tn?1392962698 I have 2 curvitures n my spine, and i have heard that this Can cause epidurals not to take properly. Have any on yu ladies experienced this?
11473749 tn?1437899164 Being induced tomorrow. I'm exited but dreading the pain. I won't let anyone induced me without having an epidural put in first. I've been induced before with no pain relief and the pain was unbearable plus I'm having baby on my own as my husband needs to stay at home look after our kids. Would an epidural take away all the contraction pain and for how long? Anyone else induced got any advice?
1577200 tn?1331725719 t do the epidural/spinal until you are on the operating table at my hospital and then they lie you down immediately after putting it in because its going to take effect quickly. right after you are down, they drape everything up and get started...its a pretty quick procedure actually. You feel the catheter going in but its not painful, more like pressure. I think the puncture for the epidural was worse :)....and even thats not that bad.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine was able to get the epidural with scoliosis. Ask your doctor to make sure, but you should be able to.
Avatar f tn I've had a terrible pregnancy, so I am very much looking forward to my epidural and pain medication. I've had an epidural before for a different kind if surgery and it was perfectly safe and quick. I feel like I am super close to my baby and don't need to go completely natural to feel closer haha. Too much pain already!
Avatar f tn t hurt it was just a slight sting when they give you the numbing shot and then pressure when they give you the actual epidural
Avatar f tn An epidural? Why would I want an epidural I'm not in labour?
Avatar n tn I understand where you're coming from except the epidural part. I want to labor at home as long as possible because I hate the hospital. Except I don't want an epidural and I feel like this will help me with that. The closest I've seen contractions get and still be able to make it to the hospital was 2 minutes apart I don't want to go that far because I don't wanna pop in the car. I also have medical issues with me though so I have to have a hospital birth.
3136949 tn?1369524705 I just want me and my husband in the room for the birth its our first and want it to be our special moment. But im not to sure about the epidural lol and I dont know if I can handle all natural so my question is, is there an alternative to the epidural that works equivalent to it or maybe even better? And if so can I request it?
Avatar n tn you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure. drink 1-2 full cups water 60 minutes prior to injection. eat a LIGHT meal.
