Avatar m tn i might have JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) and it's really starting to bother my everyday life. Is there a treatment or anything i can do to help it?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have RA but know that we have a few members with children with JRA. Can you tell us more about your daughters symptoms and history? What tests have been run with what results and what treatment plan is being prescribed?
Avatar f tn From what you are reporting I would think that the JRA has reared it's ugly head. Many adults to experience a reoccuranc of their JRA. RA can cause pain, stiffness, immune problems (difficulty healing), numbness, tingling and many more symptoms. I would suggest seeing a neurologist to rule out any conditions like MS. I would also suggest getting a bone density scan to see if you have or are at risk for osteoporosis. Additionally I would see a rheumatologist.
Avatar n tn I would hope that it was all related to the bad viral infection and still let the doctor follow up with tests for JRA. If it is JRA, it is best to catch it and treat it early. Please keep us posted on how he is doing and what the doctor finds.
Avatar f tn She has extreme joint pain in her lower back and hips. In 2008, she was diagnosed with JRA, but the doc. told us that it was the kind that young children "grow out of". Starting in March, we have seen MANY specialists (immunologist, rheumatologists and infectious disease). She has normal CBC's and her SED rate and CRP's are within normal ranges. Her ANA, however, is elevated.
Avatar n tn I was worried that my daughter would develop JRA like my husband did, and he told me that although there was a chance, it was not a significant chance. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. As far as treatment, I do not know where you live, but I STRONGLY suggest a big teaching hospital. My husband was dx at 7. He had a whole slew of drs and nurses, and if someone didn't have an answer, someone else did. That would be my advice. Hope that this helps you.
Avatar n tn locally and then a specialist in JRA ( who was going to start giving me gold shots??), they both agreed it was JRA. I know that I had lots of blood work done and certain tests showed very elevated levels, which pointed to RA. Sorry for not knowing exactly what those tests were. I was placed on Plaquinel (SP?) About two weeks later, my local DR. said I tested positive for Lymes disease.
1308443 tn?1302693321 See if your mother can get you in to see a Rhuematologist. There is a possibility you may have JRA or Juvenile Rhuematoid Arthritis. Growing pains tend to affect the long bones of the body while JRA affects ONLY the joint. My daughter was diagnosed with JRA at 5 1/2, but actually started having problems the same month she turned 3. It took that long to diagnose her. At 7 she was in physical therapy for a year while they tried to straighten the curvitures of the knees.
Avatar f tn The side effects of constant sweating and extreme exhaustion have forced me to discontinue. I have severe JRA for 48 years, I was just 4 years old. The joint destruction, multiple surgeries and severe pain, I was put on fentanyl, which worked wonderful for many years. If I knew then, what I know today, in would have NEVER started using Fentanyl I have been off of the medication for 9 days now, hardest thing I have EVER done!!! And I have been through a lot!!!!! It's a living hell.
Avatar m tn As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon). After taking x-ray and CT scan, it was found that there was perforation in his stomach.
Avatar f tn We whoed her to the best doctors here, and all of them say that it looks like she has JRA and want her to start on Enbrel. But I am really worried about the diagnosis. The blood results are not bad, Reumo factor is negative, CT showed the liquid in the knew but for me difficult to translate everything else. But I waana say that there is no marker whic hwould show that it JRA. No infections identified. What to do?
1503794 tn?1289543525 Hello & thank you in advance for any help you could offer. I am 37, f. I have had a yellow/white "pimple-like" lump on Right-eye skin/white of eye for about 1yr with irritation, pain, tenderness, dishcharge (a stringy substance, sometimes clear, white or yellow to greenish-both eyes), feeling of hair or foreign body in eyes, seeing lines like hairs w/nothing in them, dry eyes, excesive blinking. Told Dr. & she wasn't woried but I am.
Avatar n tn 13 y/O female with JRA and Family history of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer. Normal thyroid labs from birth to 2011. Dr noted swollen cervical glands and possible enlarged thyroid on exam. Sent for ultrasound of thyroid and thyroid function studies.
Avatar f tn I have JRA since the age of 11 months and have got steroids since around the age of 1 year. Due to steroids I always have had some arthritis cataract. Now I'm 30 and the cataract started to puzzle my eyesight a bit. But it wasn't the problem I went to a specialist with last year. My eyes inflamed from a long-time computer usage and my mom frightened. There the doctors said it's cataract which can be operated. Then I wasn't so afraid of it as now.
Avatar n tn Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone here has taken Humira (Adalimumab) as I've read about it and am freaking out a bit!
Avatar n tn You need to get her to a Dr and have them check for an inflammatory process. One that comes to mind is JRA-Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, with her fever and the leg pain it is a good idea to get her to a Dr ASAP. Please keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hello, My daughter is 3 yrs old. She has similar symptoms however, usually only in the morning. She has been diagnosed with JRA (Juvenile Rhuematoid Arthritis). I'm not sure if your son's symptoms only occur in the A.M. or not...hope this helps...
Avatar m tn Yes, Humira will indirectly help in controlling diarrhea and digestion. Let me explain this. Humira or adalimumab is a biological response modifier and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. Thus, in Crohn’s it will modify your body’s response to disease (bloating, tenderness, diarrhea, indigestion etc). This is because any immune mediated disease like Crohn’s produces excess of an inflammatory protein called TNF-alpha, which causes cellular damage along with pain and inflammation.
Avatar n tn m 1/654 to havea baby with down syndrome that would be there only possiblite but that it would be rare but baby looks very healthy and very activate regardless he is our miracle baby and we will love him no matter what were just happy jra doing good and weighs 14oz its was adorable he was waving yo mommy and daddy hope all you ladies our haven a good pregnancy as well :)
Avatar f tn Has anyone considered the idea or said anything about him possibly having Juvenile Rhuematoid Arthritis (JRA)? The main thing that might not be accurate would be the stiffness is generally worse in the morning, not after he's been in school. Has a Phyiscal Therapist seen him?
Avatar f tn My brother had JRA and it was a severe. I am not sure if arthritis is hereditary but want to know if this could be a possiblity. I had labs ran but since we do not have a RA doc on our island the peds are just writing it off. His ESR was high but not extremely and he was a bit anemic. The ped doc isn't concerned but there has to be an answer for why he is having the fevers every two months.
3201003 tn?1345349318 Childhood arthritis is called juvenile arthritis. It can also be referred to as JRA, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, JIA, juvenile chronic arthritis, and Still's disease. Actually, these names are somewhat misnomers. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and adult onset rheumatoid arthritis differ in some characteristics but the names indicate strict similarity. Juvenile chronic arthritis is a misnomer since juvenile arthritis is not always chronic.
