My nephew is suffering from Ulcerative colitis and hospitalised. He was under treatment and was given Pentasa granules , T PAN (40mg), Tab wysolone and Pentasa Anema. As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon).

As most of us know Humira (adalimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation.
Common Humira side effects may include: headache; nausea;
cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sinus pain, sneezing, sore throat;
rash; or redness, bruising, ITCHING, or swelling where the injection was given.

Is anyone pregnant and dealing with colitis. If so do u have less flare ups or more? I'm 8 weeks n my white blood count was a little high they said could be due to my colitis. I have had previous misscarages and hoping my colitis don't effect this pregnancy. Is anyone on meds while pregnant for colitis?
Most of what I find is the symtems for colitis has much to do with diarrhea, but our son get severly constipated, is this normal with colitis?

I have been diagonised as having colitis (amoebic) only from the stool test. The urine is clear. I have also done gyn scans which are all clear. I get very severe pains duirng periods for the last several years - unfortunately I assumed it was period pains. (must take at least 3 cataflams a day to function normally). These pains are normally in my sides mostly left side but I am unable to identify a particular area - the best descripton is left side (inside somewhere) not a localised pain.

my husband had c-diff colitis on and off for the past 3 months, he was given vancomycin for 14 days then after 2 weeks it flare up again. He was given metronidazole for 7 days, but after 2 weeks the diarrhea starts again, what is the treatment for this? Is taken so much antibiotics good for him, it seems it kills the good bacteria. Hi, I have chronic colitis, but my bowel is perfect because I did a colonoscopy in january and I know about colitis because of the biopsy. I have diarrhea almost 1 year, and never stop. I get worst now, because I have so much pain and I can not sleep, my gut contracts all the time... I'm feel weak and also have nausea. I saw blood only tree times.
I feel shortness of breath and fainting also. I already take a lot of remedy and it didn't work.

Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids have been routinely used. Phototherapy containing UV A has also been employed.
It may be an inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, IBS etc), or ischemic colitis, infectious colitis, autoimmune colitis, microscopic colitis or allergic colitis. The treatment thus includes antibiotics, corticosteroids, immune modulators, surgery, diet modification etc depending on the type of colitis. For diet modification, you can identify the triggers by logging in your food and symptoms and correlating them. At your age the chances of cancer are minimal.
