Adalimumab and pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Adalimumab and pregnancy

humira

Avatar m tn Yes, Humira will indirectly help in controlling diarrhea and digestion. Let me explain this. Humira or adalimumab is a biological response modifier and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. Thus, in Crohn’s it will modify your body’s response to disease (bloating, tenderness, diarrhea, indigestion etc). This is because any immune mediated disease like Crohn’s produces excess of an inflammatory protein called TNF-alpha, which causes cellular damage along with pain and inflammation.
Avatar n tn I have injected humira 2 weeks ago and after 3 days developed a itch and cant sleep. will it subside?
Avatar m tn He was under treatment and was given Pentasa granules , T PAN (40mg), Tab wysolone and Pentasa Anema. As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon).
Avatar n tn Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone here has taken Humira (Adalimumab) as I've read about it and am freaking out a bit!
Avatar m tn While it is antihistaminics, topical and oral steroids for eczema and antifungal for fungal infection, the treatment of psoriasis that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol, corticosteroids, fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues and retinoids have been routinely used. So before using any treatment it is advisable to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn I have moderate psoriasis and have been applying topical clobetasol for a few months. It seems to be helping the psoriatic spots, but has caused bruising and thinning of the skin in the surrounding, healthy areas. How do i reverse this? Sunlight helps the psoriasis, but is it dangerous to expose thinning skin to the rays?
10175413 tn?1427170251 I saw a rheumatologist that put me on Enbrel. My liver enzymes went higher than they ever had been. One day I told him they were all crazy. First tthey gave me medicine to ramp up my immune system (INF / RVN)(of course without explaining that that's what it did). Then they gave me medicine to suppress the immune system, while my body was still flipping out from first meds. I told him I refused to take any more meds.
Avatar f tn The only thing that was helping the pain was Voltaren but my doctor said try and stay off that and put me on celecoxib200 mg per day plus paracetemol. Any ideas of what I may have or are there any more tests I should ask for?
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.
Avatar f tn Medicines prescribed for Crohn’s include fibre supplements, Aminosalicylates (medicines that help control mild to moderate symptoms), corticosteroids, medicines such as azathioprine or 6-mercaptopurine and biologic therapy like Infliximab and adalimumab in severe cases. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar m tn I just got over a pretty severe case of psoriasis that covered a good portion of my body, but the thing is my palms and the bottoms of my feet were covered in dead skin, and i mean a lot. I would tear it off and it would be right back times 3. The scales were there as well on my arms, legs, genitle region, ect. I got prescribed prednisone 20 mg 3 times a day. Cleaned it right out but, there is a problem with my face. My face is red and not embarresed red Just red.
1539111 tn?1293014306 Since then he has been under constant treatment. We were given steroid courses, infliximab, adalimumab injections, and now he is on methotrexate every week since 2 weeks. My concern is that this injection is a chemo treatment, which can have many side effects as well as good effects. My son is now nearly 11 years old. His health is deteriorating by the day. He feels weak and dizzy, cannot do activity like playing outside with other children because he feels tired and worn out.
Avatar f tn The drugs that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids have been routinely used. Phototherapy containing UV A has also been employed. But it is usually seen that psoriasis can become resistant to a specific therapy.
Avatar f tn I visited my dr who said l had blood in urine but nothing to worry about and said apotential UTI and gave me antibiotics after suffering for three weeks, l am now getting much worse, on my last visit on Wednesday there was less blood in my urine, no temperature BP normal but had protein and she gave me more antiobiotics, augmentic for a further seven days and 400mg of an anti-inflammatory drug one three times a day.
Avatar f tn did you tell your doctor you're late?
Avatar n tn Of these, Free T3 is the most important because Free T3 largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions. (note that Free T3 and T4 are not the same as Total T3 and T4). From just looking at your lab results in light of my experience, I see nothing there to be alarmed about. Your Free T3 is above the midpoint of its range and Free T4 is also within range, though it is in the lower quarter of the range.
2176548 tn?1340677817 However this does not happen in early pregnancy. Also pregnancy cannot be diagnosed based on symptoms only. If periods are missed then a pregnancy test can be taken. Serum HCG levels and an ultrasound scan will help confirmation of pregnancy. Hope this helps.
2006473 tn?1422033301 I learned I had PCOS at a early age, I was 16 (currently 31 yrs old) I had started my periods when I was 11 and then by the age of 16 I had nothing! was put on the pill to regulate but since I wasn't sexually active at the time I forgot to take them all the time. Got back on the pill at 18, went off the pill at 26 (2006). Continued to have a period that first yr off the pill. Then 3 times a year, and then nothing from 2008 - 2009.
Avatar f tn I'm 7 weeks pregnant and contracted a uterus infection and my doctor prescribed me two cycles of 1000mg of azithromycin and I'd love a second opinion!
Avatar f tn I read online that your cervix is very sensitive during pregnancy and its possible my bf irritated, or (to be blunt) went too deep and made me bleed. Like I said, there was no pain or cramps or anything of that nature. I didnt even know I was bleeding. It wasnt alot, but it wasnt a little. Has anybody else had this problem, should I be worried?
Avatar f tn If you do get pregnant you need to test immeidately and probably increase meds about 20%. Testing during pregnancy is montly, and meds may need to be increased quite a bit.
2050045 tn?1343153733 I forgot to say that my best friend was 3 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy- she posted the moment she knew around 4 weeks. At 9 weeks she found out there was no heart beat, and had to have a D & C. She was devastated, and even now people post on fb 'how's the pregnancy going?' cuz they dot know she lost the baby... I don't want to have to explain 100x that I lost it if it happens...
1943295 tn?1388239324 My main concern I guess is handling the fish and bait (I love using worms and minnows) was safe or not? I always have sani wipes in the tackel box to keep the bacteria at a minimum!
Avatar f tn Congrats on your pregnancy and tapering down on the pills. When you see your OB make sure you tell them everything you have done. They will be able to set your mind at ease. You quit early in your pregnancy and that is a good thing. As long as you stay off the drugs your baby wont be born with wd's. Have you thought about talking to someone about this? There is always a reason why we use.
