Avatar f tn I have had multiple bumps on my groin for years now. I'm worried I might have Hidradenitis Suppurativa but I'm not sure. I'm only 16 and haven't been to a doctor because I don't know what to say and I would be devastated if I got diagnosed with HS seeing as it gets WORSE. This is what one of the bumps looks like: http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa62/sininenenkeli/hurt017.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa62/sininenenkeli/hurt025.
Avatar f tn I forgot to add that the first excerpt from "Hidradenitis Suppurativa Support and Information's Journal"
1649405 tn?1366257026 I have had POTS for many years and also Hidradenitis Suppurativa for about 12 years. I am just wondering if anyone else that has any form of Dysautonomia has HS also. Both are so frustrating(to say the least). I can't help but to think that they have to be related in some way. Both my POTS and HS are believed to be genetic. Any help or comments would be GREATLY appreciated.
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms they sound like hidradenitis suppurativa. Hidradenitis suppurativa is a skin disease that affects areas bearing apocrine sweat glands and hair follicles; such as the underarms, groin and buttocks esp in women. Apply warm compresses on the lumps and keep the area clean. Topical antiseptic treatment and topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment is very useful.
Avatar n tn I am in stage 3 hidradenitis and I was approved the first time I tried for SS benefits, as well as private disability insurance. The main key that I have found is documentation. Even when I didn't need a boil lanced by the doctor, I went in and had them chart it, sometimes take pictures, etc. It helped a lot.
Avatar n tn The ideal treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) should provide a high likelihood of cure with a low recurrence rate, as well as minimal inconvenience and loss of work time. Medical management is recommended in early stages, whereas surgery should be performed as early as possible after the formation of abscesses, fistulas, scars, and sinus tracts (see Surgical Care).

Avatar m tn Google Hidradenitis Suppurativa. It's a disease of the hair follicles. https://www.hs-foundation.org/what-is-hs/ https://www.hs-institute.com/what-is-hs See a dermatologist for a diagnosis if you think this is what you have, but it's not that well-known, so a lot of doctors aren't that familiar with it.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and yes it is hidradenitis suppurativa. He said that it is a skin problem and due to my overweight it occurs every other time. He prescribed me some antibiotics but said that it will not occur when i am on the medicine but as soon as i stop taking them, they will come back. And i am not feeling good at all.

1422823 tn?1287679280 I am sorry to bump up such an old thread, but I suffer from Hidradenitis Suppurativa ... And the funny thing is how I got here. I was reading a post somewhere and someone said something about their butt dimple :) Because I was told, when I first started getting the abscesses, that I had a butt dimple. "Just the way you were formed I guess" is what that dr. said.

1525323 tn?1291497268 Type in hidradenitis Suppurativa and celiac disease or gluten intolerance. You'll find plenty of information on these sites. For some people, gluten alone, when removed from the diet, cures the problem. For others, milk products and gluten cure it and other both plus other foods. For others they get a lot of relief, but not a total cure. Some people get relief, but have slight flares around the time of their periods. The immune system is obviously involved.
Avatar n tn If still the lumps persist then specific treatment like antibiotics, vit A supplements, corticosteroid injections, isotretinoin, antiandrogens and sometimes excision and drainage ,laser therapy and radiotherapy are found useful.I feel that you should consult a dermatologist and discuss these options with him. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing and if you have any additional queries.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed antibiotics 2 weeks ago (1 weeks course) and these reduced the swelling and cleared it up. However, it raised its ugly head on Saturday and I want to know if I would be best to bathe as much as poss and try and persaude it to burst. In my limited exerience, it is best to get the poison out? Would you agree? I also wondered if you have any advise as to what soap, moisturiser, shampoo to use to minimise future outbreaks?

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Hidradenitis is a good suggestion for the groin, but not so good for lesions on the lower abdomen. But MLWTR is correct that this is something to ask your doctor about.
