appendicitis

Avatar m tn Six months back I got pain at Right Lower Abdomen (RIF). The local GP thought Sub acute appendicitis and prescribed antibiotics. My WBC at that time was normal. The pain was intermittent, some times sharp and mild. I never took the antibiotics. The next day the local GP said no appendicitis. After 15 days still the symptoms continued occasionally and a went to a Gastroenterologist who advised to take Taxim-O an antibiotic. I took it for 5 days.
Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...

Avatar m tn Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course? What has prompted my question is that I had two episodes yesterday, one in the morning and a very severe bout in the evening. I keep thinking this will just go away especially when I'm pain free and I forget about it.
Avatar m tn There is no test to prove chronic appendicitis. Some of the symptoms are lower right quadrant pain, sometimes it's sharp, sometimes it dull, bloating mucus in stool, pain with or after intercourse, trapped gas or stool in the appendix area will double you over. WBC's will be somewhere from 9-11, not high enough to indicate an acute form of appendicitis but a chronic form of it.
Avatar f tn Cramps change in nature from time to time. The other possibility is your appendix. Google appendicitis symptoms (chronic and not acute) and see if that sounds familiar. If you think it's your appendix, of course it's time to see the doc.
Avatar n tn If you do have appendicitis (especially acute appendicitis) then if this is untreated there is a chance that the appendix will rupture causing peritonitis which is dangerous and can be life threatening. I suggest that you go quickly to your Emergency/accident department and ask them either to rule out appendicitis - or else confirm it and carry out the necessary operation.
Avatar m tn Hey just had Acute appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery to remove appendix. Avatar n tn You are correct that this is not an acute appendicitis, but there is a possibility that this is a chronic appendicitis. This is almost surely not an ulcer of the rectum as you don't have any of the same symptoms.
Avatar n tn Symptoms produced by the cysts may mimic other intra-abdominal disease, and in three of the four cases reported in this series the girls were initially considered to have either acute appendicitis or infection of the urinary tract. All three had a pelvic mass palpable per rectum. The fourth girl was found to have bilateral calcified densities in the ovaries when examined roentgenographically for low back pain.
Avatar n tn Severe cramping of the lower right abdominal cavity. Low grade fever. Took him to the hospital where it was confirmed he had appendicitis and underwent a successful laparoscopic appendectomy the following day. Released the day after (Sunday). Pain continued but not as severe and we just thought it was pain associated with the appendectomy however his fever began to rise and the pain intensified. By Tuesday evening we were back in the hospital.
Avatar n tn I have had 3 blood tests this year, which all came back normal (except for the liver values), which is part of what makes me wonder about sub-acute appendicitis, as I know that often people have normal labs but only discover post-appendectomy that that was indeed the problem. I'm not sure if I can get an 'elective' appendectomy - in any case, I'm relatively sure insurance won't cover it if it's not ordered by a doctor.
Avatar f tn For 3 years I have been dealing with bouts of acute RLQ pain and went to ER countless times. I try to avoid it now despite how bad my symptoms get. I have been diagnosed with IBS, ovarian cysts and a "twisted gut" ( which is a bowel obstruction that self resolves. I just feel like the doctors are not taking me seriously...to the point that after the acute phase does subside I do wonder...is it in myour head?
Avatar f tn Well, my opinon is different You don't always get the acute appendicitis sometimes it isn't as severe as this persons says. My sister in law her husbands both burst before they knew they had theirs. They had some pain and then went in. It wasn't severe. I had a fever, and nausea and some stomach pain. They took mine out when I was kid. So, I think it does vary and you should check it out. How low is the pain? Way below the belly button but just above the bikini line?
Avatar m tn Not every patient presents with the classic symptoms of acute appendicitis, and chronic appendicitis can be very difficult to diagnose. Whatever it is, you need to see a doctor.
Avatar m tn kung acute hep B ka hindi mo no need to take medicine, walang gamot sa acute hep B, jut boost ur immune system, sa GF mo dapat magpa test siya, baka naman acute lang din, dapat within 6 months negative ka na sa virus, if 6 months had passed positive pa rin meaning chronic na, so forever na yung virus sa katawan, pero puwedeng maging healthy carrier ka, meaning hindi nakakahawa.
1036535 tn?1278502599 I was furious when the nurse made the comment that no one really thought I had MS anyway when I had my appt. to get my LP results. I wondered why on earth would a dr. put someone thru that if he didn't think it was MS. 847328 tn?1289783114 Do get it checked out if it doesn't go away or if it gets worse. I don't mean to scare you, but things can happen like appendicitis. I experienced abdominal pain, right sided for the first 3 months of my pregnancy. They kept telling me it was normal (I saw about 4 different gastro drs and they all said nothing to worry about - some without even doing a proper history or examination).
