Avatar m tn Six months back I got pain at Right Lower Abdomen (RIF). The local GP thought Sub acute appendicitis and prescribed antibiotics. My WBC at that time was normal. The pain was intermittent, some times sharp and mild. I never took the antibiotics. The next day the local GP said no appendicitis. After 15 days still the symptoms continued occasionally and a went to a Gastroenterologist who advised to take Taxim-O an antibiotic. I took it for 5 days.
Avatar n tn There was a local surgeon that apparently only removed part of the appendix in three patients in a month. They all returned with recurrent appendicitis and he was run out of town.
Avatar n tn You are correct that this is not an acute appendicitis, but there is a possibility that this is a chronic appendicitis. This is almost surely not an ulcer of the rectum as you don't have any of the same symptoms.
Avatar m tn This classic pattern of migratory pain is the most reliable symptom of acute appendicitis. Vomiting may then occur, in contrast to the repeated bouts of vomiting that typically accompany viral gastroenteritis or small bowel obstruction. Fever then usually occurs, followed by the development of an elevated white blood cell count. Of course not all patients present this way. For example, not all patients lose their appetite.
Avatar m tn Did you ever find a doctor in Michigan that believed in chronic appendicitis and removed your appendix? Did you find relief after. Your symptoms and tests to diagnose are identical to my 13 yr old daughter's.... and we have a history of chronic appendicitis in my family. My middle daughter, my sister and my grandson all suffered for 1 year minimum before it went acute and they had it removed. After, they were symptom free.
Avatar n tn If you do have appendicitis (especially acute appendicitis) then if this is untreated there is a chance that the appendix will rupture causing peritonitis which is dangerous and can be life threatening. I suggest that you go quickly to your Emergency/accident department and ask them either to rule out appendicitis - or else confirm it and carry out the necessary operation.
Avatar n tn I just got report about my neice and I am in shock, she had acute abdomenal pain, and an U/S showed a 11cm cyst, how does this happen, removing it through surgery is the only way to go?? do they have to remove the overies??
Avatar m tn Hey just had Acute appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery to remove appendix. Now I had a lump under my skin just above my elbow that is below my skin. it seems as though it is attached to my vein or just by the muscle. It does not hurt but I am worried sick it could be something serious.
Avatar f tn thank you for your reply iv read a report in BMJ saying an unusual cause of this as appendicitis would this have shown up in the ultra sound scans or is a CT scan the only way to see this
Avatar m tn Exhibited symptoms can vary from a mild pain to a severe pain as in acute appendicitis; however, patients do not usually experience vomiting, fever, or gastritis. A rumbling appendix is inflamed, but not infected; hence, there is no need for emergency surgery. The pain associated with a rumbling appendix is usually restricted to the lower right abdomen, but sometimes shifts or extends to the upper right abdomen. Rumbling appendicitis can be treated, if diagnosed correctly.
Avatar m tn Could be a cyst, that is the most likely cause. Not dangerous at all in most cases, and your doctor will be able to acertain the best way of dealing with it. But the pain of appendicitis is also located in the same general area, and there are more serious conditions that could cause the pain as well, so waiting for your doctor's verdict is the best course of action. Don't worry too much, though. Unless the pain becomes acute, it's not urgent.
Avatar f tn Cramps change in nature from time to time. The other possibility is your appendix. Google appendicitis symptoms (chronic and not acute) and see if that sounds familiar. If you think it's your appendix, of course it's time to see the doc.
Avatar n tn i am having a nagging pain in the right side of my lower abdomen for the past 15 hours, what can be the cause of it?
Avatar n tn You have mentioned that you were diagnosed with appendicitis. Was an appendectomy done? In this case I would suggest that an abdominal ultrasound may be done to ascertain the cause of the pain. A baseline urinalyis and urine culture may also be helpful to determine if infections or urinary tract stones may be present. I do not think the fungal infection has been causing the pain. Unless the area is swollen and severely infected the tenderness may be noted when the skin is palpated.
Avatar n tn Welcome back to the forum. Based on the title of your question plus the opening line: by ARV you probably mean the acute retrovial syndrome (usually abbreviated ARSO, which cannot start within 5 days of catching HIV. 8-10 days is the minimum. So on that basis, I doubt a new HIV infection is the cause of whatever symptoms you have. Now I have read the rest. Your own assessment about the sexual exposure is correct ("I feel that this was not a high risk encounter").
Avatar f tn my husband went to hospital had a lot of pain said he had kidney stones and treated him for them, then right after that he has had savere pain in his shoulders cant even lift his arms hasnt done anything to cause injury. know one can tell us whats going on have had him back to hospital and dr 7 times took a lot of blood work founf=d he has a high level of inflammation in his muscels help what is wrong with him?
Avatar n tn Severe cramping of the lower right abdominal cavity. Low grade fever. Took him to the hospital where it was confirmed he had appendicitis and underwent a successful laparoscopic appendectomy the following day. Released the day after (Sunday). Pain continued but not as severe and we just thought it was pain associated with the appendectomy however his fever began to rise and the pain intensified. By Tuesday evening we were back in the hospital.

Avatar f tn For 3 years I have been dealing with bouts of acute RLQ pain and went to ER countless times. I try to avoid it now despite how bad my symptoms get. I have been diagnosed with IBS, ovarian cysts and a "twisted gut" ( which is a bowel obstruction that self resolves. I just feel like the doctors are not taking me seriously...to the point that after the acute phase does subside I do wonder...is it in myour head?
Avatar m tn s immediate fever fast acting, I said to this doc, well sure I read could be chronic appendicitis, he said, yeah great theory, he said me telling him mum stated appendicitis is immediate rapd onset, he said no mate your gave a great one there yes your right there is something called chronic appendicitis which can belive it take years or months etc to become serious or critical, and yeah you may be right but i think it's potential gallstones or your less likely chronic appencicitis slow
Avatar n tn Also, did they check for ovarian torsion?

Avatar n tn Hi I am a 20 year old female, and I have been having pain in my right side for a couple of weeks. I have been to urgent care to receive an answer, but I did not have much luck. I had asked if it was appendicitis, but the doctor said it was not. But I am wondering what else it could be then or do you think the doctor misdiagnosed?
