Common Questions and Answers about Actos when to take

actos

Avatar m tn 30am wake up. 2mg Glimepride at 5:00pm before dinner. Take glucose readings just before meds in am and pm. Currently avg 167 in the am and 114 in the pm. Active during the day but little activity during the evening and night. Anyone have information about switching the 30mg Actos + 4mg Glimepride to before dinner and the 2mg Glimepride at wake up in hopes of lowering the morning readings? Thank you.
Avatar n tn So your taking insulin (Knowing what kind of insulin is just as important as knowing a how much) AND Actos? Usually when a person goes on Insulin they drop the actos.
Avatar n tn I am on metformin and glipized, as well. Is it best to take actos along with these medications to be more effective? This discussion is related to Best time to take meds.
489891 tn?1209058786 Now a year before the hospital my weight was close to 400 when checking in to the hospital i was 280 and checking out i was 300 lbs. Now in Dec i gained weight 22 pounds, in jan i lost 13 pounds being just a little under what i was released from the hospital with. That wasn't the problem, the problem is now in feb i gained 16.6 and in march gained 12.6 and so far this month gained 11.8 i am starting to get back where i was before all this started. I have tryed everything to help.
1236243 tn?1277680851 I've been on Actos for 9 years and have no problems. Avandia is effectively off the market but ACTOS was not removed. The diabetic educator should know better that suggest someone get off a drug. Suggesting that he/she contact their M.D. was a good idea, but not necessarily required, unless the 'one man in the class' is having noticable adverse side-effects. Rumor monger statements and posts like this one are more scary than it actually should be.
Avatar m tn Anyway, my blood glucose used to be around the 140 mark then I started taking Actos 30 mg mg., I now take ONLY take 15 mg and my fasting blood sugar is around 110 to 115. I also barely eat in the morning - a cup of yogart and a banana for breakfast, a small turkey sandwhich for lunch. Afternoon I feel I'm having a hypglycemic attack so I have some cookies and coffee or tea (I need the caffeine- I'm dying from fatigue!
178107 tn?1315947630 It also began to regulate my blood sugars, if fact one day my level was so low that the doc reduced one of my meds from 2 pills twice a day to 1 pill twice a day. I must admit though that when I initially started I had to force myself to eat, whereas I was overeating before. I have not experienced the nausea which many say comes with this med. I suppose that could be because I take so very many other meds for my many ailments that the system just takes in whatever I give it.
Avatar f tn Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.
2053416 tn?1330411192 Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn I took Actos and within a week started having stomach and left side pains. I stopped actos and 75% of the symptoms are gone but I did see my doctor who ordered a CT scan which was normal. My labs have all been normal except I did show 21% atypical lymphs. Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc.
Avatar n tn So is better to talk to the doctor about this side effects. She is very well medicated but allergic reactions can happen. TALK TO TE DOCTOR is all I can tell.
Avatar f tn Ask for Actos, I took it for my tyoe II. There are other medications too, talk to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I currently take glimepiride 4mg twice daily and actos 15mg once daily. What is the sucess of these two meds. I continue to have high blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn I take my bolld sugars of a morning fasting and they are like 167-191, I take 1000 mg of janumet and 18 units of lantus before bed, of a morning I take 20 Units of lantus, 45 mg actos why am I having problems regulating my blood sugars, I also take 7 units of novalog after every meal??? Do you have any other sugustions??
Avatar n tn The symptoms you are feeling when your blood sugars get down to 150 may be related to your body adjusting to more normal blood sugars and away from the higher ones. Depending on how you are losing weight (diet and exercise versus some kind of drug or medication), it may be related to that, but it's hard to say without knowing the how. The symptoms you have can be related to hyperglycemia, but not usually. I can't find much about Junovia, to know how it might be affecting you.
Avatar m tn ), I began to notice that my vision was similar to that when I am cross-eyed. After resting sufficiently, I am still having the same problem 2 days later. The best that I can see in the mirror is that 1 eye is not always moving as quickly as the other, but a lazy eye doesn't seem to be realistically caused by fatigue. Otherwise, my eyes do not visually appear to be crossed; but my vision comes off as such. Is this something that will go away, or should I see an optometrist or physician?
923105 tn?1341827649 If you continue to have this spiking when you take this medication, I would definitely talk to your doctor. I know chronic constipation is a problem you want relief from, but consistently high blood sugars can have longterm effects. Another option would be for your doctor to consider putting you on diabetes meds.
1013254 tn?1337900972 She was gonna raise me to 300mcgs of Synthroid, told her I was already on 300mcgs, she asked when I started that and I told her, 3 weeks ago when she called them in, ohhhhhh, well now I want you to take 350mcgs. I have a call into my primary doc for the name of the new Endo in his building. Like I have ALWAYS said, "Treat the Patient, Not the Problem"!!
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSISED AS A PRE DIABETIC WITH A FAMILY HISTORY. i HAVE ALTERED MY DIET TAKING ACTOS 15MG DAILY. MY PROBLEM IS THIS. EVER SINCE I STARTED TAKING THE ACTOS MY WEIGHT HAD SPIRALED UP WARDS IN EXCESS OF 20LB IN 3 MONTHS. I GO TO THE GYM 4-6 DAYS A WEEK WITH CARDIO AND WEIGHTS FOR APT 1 1/2 HOURS. I APPEAR TO BE LOSING INCHES HOWEVER APEAR TO BE FIRMING UP BUT THE WEIGHT GAIN IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. I ALSO HAVE SLEEP APNEA AND IT IS APPARENTLY WORSE BY THIS SITUATION.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take 1500mg a day. it used to make me sick until I started taking 1 in the morning and 2 at night, that way if I do get sick I won't know cause I am asleep! Don't know if that would work for you but it never hurts to try. people do loose weight but you have to change your way of eating and dieting! I have lost weight but, not alot, but everyone is different, I also have cut out all sugars(sodas, candy ect) from my diet that also helps the metformin do its job!
Avatar f tn monday, (i am a diabetic, took sugar test said it was 203, for me that is high, current meds are actos, potassium pill, and bp pill) at work, i felt dizzy and nearly passed out, sat down, looking at my manager i started seeing a black cloud over my eyes, didnt completely black out.
Avatar n tn I am 64 and have been a type 2 diabetic for 5 years. I also have been treated for hypertension and high cholesterol levels since the age of 50. I take daily Glucophage 500 x 2, Januvia 100, Actos 30 (newly prescribed), Lisinopril 40, Amlodopine 10 (newly prescribed), and HCTZ 25. What do you think is the cause of my pain? Thanks.
1580703 tn?1651904887 t get the toxins out of my body because of the liver disease.
Avatar f tn Perhaps he needs a change in his Actos dosage or needs to go to Insulin to get his levels down. I would talk to the Dr. if the levels stay where they are.
Avatar n tn What I found was that metformin and actos were primarily given to those with type 2. I am in no way disagreeing with your treatment or your doc's instructions. Please feel free to enlighten me about these 2 meds. I have also found that Lipitor is used for individuals with high cholesterol. (I am not analysing you or your doc, I just wanted to know more about these meds.) After finding out about the low progesterone, what was the Doctor's plan of treatment?
