Avatar n tn Should a 59 years old male with severe CAD, Renal Insufficiency (has been on dialysis for 1 1/2 years), had cuadriple heart bypass four years ago and is getting a stent today for coronary obstruction and has been on Coumadin for several years, will have to add Plavix to his treatment or is Coumadin enough for anticoagulation and antiplatelet effect?
Avatar m tn Disorders of calcium metabolism, such as hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria, may induce the formation of calcium renal stones and deposition of calcium salts in the renal parenchyma (nephrocalcinosis). The extensive deposition of calcium may lead to chronic tubulointerstitial disease and renal insufficiency. The first signs of damage induced by hypercalcemia are seen at the intracellular level, in the tubular epithelial cells.

Avatar m tn The EF below 30% is heart failure range and that can cause renal failure. Early complications of cardiac insufficiency include renal vasoconstriction and the development of sodium and water retention, which are hallmarks of the very early stages of congestive heart failure. Heart failure is a physiologically delicate condition in which therapy is designed to block the sodium retention and simultaneously interrupt excessively activated neurohumoral mechanisms.
1236243 tn?1277680851 See this link for FDA issued warnings on Actos and Avandia http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/medicines_ez/insert_J.aspx Kinda makes you wonder if it's time to leave the sinking ship.
Avatar m tn m active during the day and have little activity after dinner and while sleeping, is it possible that taking the Actos and 4mg Glimepride BEFORE dinner and the 2mg Glimepride in the morning could lower the morning readings?
Avatar f tn A high result means that your kidneys are not working well - called renal insufficiency. A very high result indicates renal failure.
Avatar n tn So your taking insulin (Knowing what kind of insulin is just as important as knowing a how much) AND Actos? Usually when a person goes on Insulin they drop the actos.
2053416 tn?1330411192 Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

Avatar n tn Is it best to take actos in the morning or evening? I am on metformin and glipized, as well. Is it best to take actos along with these medications to be more effective? This discussion is related to Best time to take meds.

681148 tn?1437661591 Before I wised up and learned that spelt was simply just a non-hybrid and natural form of wheat and that it still has gluten in it, I would go to make some toast with this spelt bread. Before I ever got the butter on it, the cat was trying to take the bread away from me. And, she usually has much better manners than that. I noticed that I wasn't stopping at one or two slices of this bread myself. I wised up and didn't buy any more of it.
Avatar n tn His doctors found out that he has severe aortic insufficiency secondary to aortic-annular ectasia, chronic renal insufficiency secondary to hypertensive nephrosclerosis, hypertension, controlled.. Could you explain further in layman's term? He's still currently under observation. His doctors are somewhat not sure about how will they operate him because they said that this is a very rare heart problem.
3093770 tn?1389739126 The FDA has NOT received reports of NSF among patients with normal renal function or moderate renal insufficiency”. Many of the reported cases of NSF have been in patients before or after liver transplant." The only connection to hepatitis C is in transplant patients who have renal failure and servere liver disease. Obviously most people with hepatitis C do not have servere liver disease (ESLD), waiting for a liver transplant and have renal failure.
Avatar n tn I think you might have posted in the wrong forum. This is for Addiction and Substance abuse.
Avatar f tn Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.
Avatar f tn How have your blood pressures been? Multiple things can cause chf such as renal insufficiency, fluid overload, water retention from these disorders can sometimes be managed by weight control and exercising good dieting. Foods with high sodium levels can cause water retention. If I were you, I would see your PCP without delay. You don't want to end up with "flash pulmonary edema.
Avatar f tn Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Was it primarily due to the renal insufficiency or were there secondary effects being caused by the CKD treatment medications?
4295567 tn?1352353163 NSAIDS can act as mild blood thinners, cause problems with the lining of the stomach, and are contraindicated in persons with renal insufficiency. Also the arginine component of the pain med can also potentiate the blood thinning action of the ibuprofen. But only your doctor knows your full health history and can determine what medications are best.
Avatar f tn I would like to know how common it is for the incidence of renal insufficiency to be connected with long-standing Fibromyalgia cases.
