My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.
clean colonoscopy biopsy this year, says Osteoporosis-I dont have that, Hypothyroidimsm-I have that but myTSH and T2 are NORMAL and my T4 is SLIGHLY high--it;s not hypothyroidism. I have 6 heart stents but NO current issues with blood pressure or chest pain--VERY concered. I ave pre=Diabetes but Glucose levels are NORMAL (taking ACTOS) WHAT SYMPTOMS do I have---CHRONIS FATIGUE,CHRONIC PAIN in body, No rashes--NO headaches---No other significant symptoms a level of 9 ois very concernng!!

I took Actos and within a week started having stomach and left side pains. I stopped actos and 75% of the symptoms are gone but I did see my doctor who ordered a CT scan which was normal. My labs have all been normal except I did show 21% atypical lymphs. Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc.
I take Synthroid for hypothyroidism, and I was diagnosed with osteoporosis, I have tried several times to take calcium supplements within the guidelines when taking Synthroid, (more than 4 hours before or after taking med), and I become almost immediately exhausted, and sleep for 8-12 hours. I take only about 250 mgs of calcium, and vitamin D as well.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year prior to HCV. I've used metformin, glipizide and actos (pioglitizone) for eight years now for DM2 management; including during both HCV treatments. I was eventually successful with interferon therapy, for what it's worth. I can't comment on the victoza; I have no personal experience with it.
Reducing insulin resistance might be critical to succesful inteferon-based therapy as well.
My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
I have started mega doses of supplements and calcium and D and excercise and I want someone to tell me that that has worked for them. Most comments I get is to take the drug because it's more effective. I can't believe everyone is taking bisphosphonates or other drugs like that.

I just had my frist Bone scan and the office called me and said I had osteoporosis and that they called in RX for Atelvia..
I picked up the RX and was reading the information and I am concerned about the side effect of this medication.
Is this the only way to help with osteoporosis? Is there anything elso another way?
Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue and loss of bone density over time. If you do not get enough calcium, or if your body does not absorb enough calcium from the diet, bone production and bone tissues may suffer. As you age, calcium and phosphate may be reabsorbed back into the body from the bones, which makes the bone tissue weaker. And this happens with the bones of your entire body.
Hello~ 33 yr old female w/ PCOS & was diagnosed w/type 2 6 yrs ago. I was not happy & revised my eating habits along w/ taking 500 mg of glucophage 2x daily. It took @ 1 1/2 yr, but I lost 50lbs & my b/s levels dropped to where my dr was took me off glucophage. I did fine & was off glucophage for @ 2 years. I started reverting back to my old eating habits(did manage to stay away from any sugar, my problem was carbs & fast food).
I expect she is Anxious about it all aswell does she get out and is she as busy as she can be as she has a lot of pain ,it could make her feel very fedup, and that makes it worse.Does she have exercises to do for the Osteoporosis, I think they reccomend some to strenghthen her . There are a few books on the Market she can read .I hope you both do better soon, sounds like she needs some answers and she needs to demand them.
