Simvastatin is contraindicated in pregnancy and liver disease, according to Wikipedia. I also know that Cresor 40mg is not recommended for Asians. I would like to know why you believe simvastatin and or statin in geneal have ant-hbv activities? Have you heard of cases where statins cause acute liver failure in chronic hbv patients?

of the two drugs avandia has been found active in another study on hbsag and hbvdna with high potency, so since avandi is active on hbv and suggested as liver cancer prevention and cure it would be good to use it
in october when i will see my doctor/researcher i will talk about this and possible combo with etv.
My mother has Graves Disease, and diabetes. The medicines she takes cause her chest pain, shortness of breath, and make her dizzy. Her blood pressure checks out ok, but is the medicine for the blood pressure causing this pain.
Some days she is ok and other days the pain comes in the morning and lasts all day.
Of all the medecines she takes which is most likely the culprit. Is there any alternatives.
there are new markers to detect early hcc, Golgi protein 73 is the best marker, alfafeto protein is not good anymore but guidelines still use it, in case of hcc early detection and resection has good rates.
this is a research level so i don't think it is easy to find a lab for these markers, in italy there is so much research that i found many places but i don't know about the rest of the world

My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.

Everyday when I take Metformin I usually have constipation and the top of my feet are swollen up. My fingers are so numb, and my urine is dark yellow and opaque. Yesterday and today I stopped taking Metformin I feel better; however, but my blood sugar in the morning was measured 143 and 242 after I ate dinner.
Please give me an advice about my situation.

Thank you! You have empowered me. The doctor's office just called, and he is agreeing to refer me to an endo because my liver panels are worse (despite being off all cholesterol drugs). Tomorrow I am going to the derm and I am going to insist on the thyroid tests that you suggested. I have lived with the high cholesterol, the osteoperosis, but the hair loss is just too much! Can a thyroid issue effect liver panels? Thanks again!
I’ve been using metformin, glipizide and Actos concurrently now for a few years, and at this point, between meds, diet and exercise I’m staying under tight control. My A1C has been under 6.0 consistently; for the past year and a half, anyway.
During treatment, my blood sugar became *very* problematic, and I ended up adding Lantus insulin on top of the oral meds. I no longer require insulin; it tends to promote weight gain in those that are predisposed to that, from what I understand.
I took Actos and within a week started having stomach and left side pains. I stopped actos and 75% of the symptoms are gone but I did see my doctor who ordered a CT scan which was normal. My labs have all been normal except I did show 21% atypical lymphs. Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc.
I am really trying to see if my sister's condition has anything to do with her being given this shot. Last time she was given it was April 2013, she is currently in the hospital fighting for her life!! So with all the warnings about if you have a liver disease you shouldn't be taking this shot and the doctors are advising her liver isn't functioning and for it to be as far gone as it is, if she had come to hospital a year ago they wouldn't have been able to do anything!!

I was going thru a bottle of vodka every 2 to 3 days. I started having discomfort in the liver area with nausea fatigue and dry mouth. Had an lft done all normal. Still felt sick and went to the hospital lft normal except elevated bilirubin ultrasound normal. Had another lft couple of weeks after bilrubin down to 1.3. And another normal ultrasound. I still deal with right quadrant pain fatigue and nausea.
