Well, I'm sorry about your condition, which seems to have no "medical"
cure, but I understand your need for some type of treatment through a more specialized doctor.
Chances are that there aren't any experts in this field, due to the lack of enough research to find a cure stemming from the lack of funding ,as it is considered a "cosmetic" disease and also Lichen Planopilaris being a rather rare condition, which does not help either.

From the biopsy report, the differentials for your hair loss are lichen planopilaris, follicular degeneration, traction alopecia which is common due to pulling of hair while forming a bun or plait, chemical abuse or trichotillomania (compulsive pulling or twisting of the hair which cause break off and hence hair loss). Lichen planopilaris is a type of lichen planus and affects hairy areas of the body, causing inflammation, hair loss, and scarring.
AmMw, Given to choose a lichen disorder ranging from lichen planus, lichen sclerosis er atrophicus, lichen planopilaris, lichen actinicus and lichn nitidus, I would happily choose lichen nitidus.Why?For it is going to disappear soon! Only calls for a little patience from you.ok?

I was diagnosed with lichen planopilaris about 2 years ago confirmed with biopsy.After trials of clobetasol and olux-E there was little improvement.I was then placed on plaquenil with improvement to my lichen planopilaris.I developed a severe rash with hives and redness from my neck to my knees,front and back after 9 months of plaquenil. I was taken off plaquenil and used steroid cream with improvement,but the rash did return and I was placed on prednisone.
I have resently been diagnosed with Lichen Planus and Licxhen Planopilaris. They thought I had Lupus, but after several blood tests and biopsys, the results showed different. Still no one can explain about the sore feeling.

My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.
I am new here. I have had Hep C, GT 1a for approximately 45 years. I underwent the (awful) peg & ribavirin treatment in 2004 and was considered a "partial responder". I hopefully will be starting the new oral medication this April.
Following the sudden death of my fiancé in December I broke out in an itchy rash on my wrists, hands, forearms, lower back and feet.
my daughter was just diagnosed with lichen planus and after six weeks of treatmnet and changing meds twice we are now off to a skin specialist who will treat this aggressively. She too plays soccer constantly and i also mentioned this fact to our current dermatologist who said he had never heard that could be a reason. Was wondering how your son was doing and if you could be of any further help.
I took Actos and within a week started having stomach and left side pains. I stopped actos and 75% of the symptoms are gone but I did see my doctor who ordered a CT scan which was normal. My labs have all been normal except I did show 21% atypical lymphs. Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc.
In 1996 I went to my dermatologist he did a punch test of some skin on my neck, he said it looked like something called Dowling Degos disease but didn't say too much on what to do for it other than going to a tanning bed to get sun on it, and to cut my nails and to stop scratching. Can men get Lichen sclerosis? I've seen a rash on my dads chest when I was younger and he would go out in the sun and it helped to get rid of it.
