489891 tn?1209058786 My question is y are you taking byetta and actos+met... and I'm on topamx, but for seizures... I'm also on actos plusmet 15/500 just once a day, with a insulin pump ( i take apidra in my pump)... byetta and actos plus met are very similar drugs doing the same thing.. the actos+met will make you gain weight very quickly. How many shots of byetta are you taking a day a long with the actos plus met? and what dose of actos are you taking and why...

666921 tn?1254990618 sometimes when I wake in the morning I feel as though my arms and hands have swollen-up during the night - they feel sort of bigger and harder - occasionally the lower arm muscles have stabbing pains when I get this - my hands don't feel stiff. I don't notice fluid retention in my knees or ankles - which I think I would if it were down to 'fluid retention' in general. Does anyone else get this type of 'thing' ???
Avatar f tn I am still suffering severe pain and have had mt breast drained of the fluid in Aug of this year. It is now Dec and the breast is full again what question should I be asking and to whom should i be asking this question. I have an appointment today with my Oncologist and on the 16th of this month with my Rad. Oncologist. Or should I go to my Surgen?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has started having issues with fluid retention? If I press on my skin the marks stay for ages. For example if I press lightly with my finger nail on my arm, the mark will stay there for 5-10 minutes or so. I can almost play tic tac toe on my arm before it fades away! My husdband has noticed particularly in the morning as if I sleep with my fingers etc on my face or chest I will have those marks for a good 10minutes after I get up and move around.
Avatar f tn Mine went away completely by the time I had my second chemo. (carbo/taxol every three wks) At the time of my dx I looked 8 months prego. Had 7 liters drained. 2 wks later had 5 liters drained. Started chemo 1 week after that. Fluid was starting to build again for about a week but then slowly subsided. That was 8 months ago. It hasn't come back. And just to let you know I have stg 3 ovca. Had 6 rounds chemo, surgery and debulking, and at the moment I'm cancer free. Take care.
1523195 tn?1291322372 I have recently noticed that I have diabetes , I'm 40+ years old , I measured my sugar level at home and it ranges from 270 -370 when I'm fast ( 8-12 hours without eating and drinking) and when I after eating it also ranges from 250-270 . I went to the doctor to make full body analysis for diabetes and the blood sugar level was 290 , he prescribed me two tablets / day of Glucophage 1000mg and one tablet / day of ACTOS 30mg.

Avatar f tn Fluid retention is a symptom of being hypo and as goolarra mentioned, it's not unusual for symptoms to worsen or new ones to appear, as one is getting used to the med. Side effects of Synthroid are, typically, those of hyperthyroidism.
1236243 tn?1277680851 See this link for FDA issued warnings on Actos and Avandia http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/medicines_ez/insert_J.aspx Kinda makes you wonder if it's time to leave the sinking ship.
Avatar m tn m active during the day and have little activity after dinner and while sleeping, is it possible that taking the Actos and 4mg Glimepride BEFORE dinner and the 2mg Glimepride in the morning could lower the morning readings?
Avatar f tn I agree that drinking water is an excellent way to help eliminate fluid retention. Parsley is excellent for helping get rid of excess fluid, as are watercress and dandelion root. Exercise can also help prevent fluid retention.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor about compression stockings to keep the fluid out. When you don't have to stand, sit with your feet up, and whenever you can, put your feet above the level of your heart to help drain the fluid. Check with your doctor, but I'm pretty sure you should be following a low sodium diet to help. Definitely check this first with your doctor, but they may want you on a fluid restricted diet, in which case drinking extra fluids would be harmful.
Avatar n tn So your taking insulin (Knowing what kind of insulin is just as important as knowing a how much) AND Actos? Usually when a person goes on Insulin they drop the actos.
1884134 tn?1321151602 i have lupus sle nephritis, its been really bad, first had hard bloated belly and then it turned into fluid all around my upper and lower abdoman very painful and also get swollen feet and legs due to it. there is even fluid around the bottom of my spin. is there anything i can do?!
649848 tn?1534633700 My FT's are up in the ranges, where they should be and I no longer have the shortness of breath, at all, even with exercise. I've had fluid retention, off and on, since I was in my 20's; in 2009, when I started this thread, the fluid retention was due mostly to being hypo, not the medication. When I have fluid retention, now, it's not thyroid related. I've found that some teas will get it down rather quickly.
Avatar f tn I suffer from fluid retention in my legs and ankles and sometimes my face, its not present in the morning, but by the end of the day, im swollen up!
2053416 tn?1330411192 Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
574118 tn?1305135284 s valve, cardiomyopathy or fluid retention. As for weight problems, there is a forum for weight loss but I think that would have to be up to your Mom to face that. Unless you're fixing all her meals she'll have to reach a point where she's ready to take care of the extra weight and hopefully improve her health. The extra weight does put an extra burden on the heart however. I hope she's being treated/monitored regularly by a cardiologist now.
Avatar n tn Is it best to take actos in the morning or evening? I am on metformin and glipized, as well. Is it best to take actos along with these medications to be more effective? This discussion is related to Best time to take meds.
Avatar f tn If you have been having kidney issues and fluid retention - that's enough to explain the ankle swelling and pain. That's the most common place to have fluid retention, and it can be very painful. Elevate your feet above your heart to help your body get rid of the fluid. Of course reduce sodium and try gentle massage (of the ankles) The sensation in your calf might need to be seen, as it can be a symptom of a blood clot. I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn I am 50 years old, and was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis about 5 months ago. I do have some cirrhosis and ascites. I am currently on 40mg of prednisone, as well as an antibiotic for the ascites and spironolactone for fluid retention. I've read over alot of posts, but not seen anyone mention diet restrictions. Anyone? My doctor has instructed me to have no added sodium...nothing in a box, bottle, jar, or can, etc. Also has restricted my fluid intake to 24 ounces a day.
Avatar m tn I am very aware of my body, and I never get fluid retention otherwise so I am confident if I were not on Synthroid that I would not be having fluid retention. I just called a pharmacy to ask and one of the pharmacists recommended switching to Levoxyl. I will have to find out what that is.
Avatar n tn I used to have a lot of fluid retention -- feet, legs, hands, arms, face - especially around and under the eyes. Once I got on thyroid med, the very thing that left me was the bags under my eyes......I still have some fluid retention but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be and I find that exercise helps it considerably, as does drinking more water.
Avatar f tn Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.
Avatar f tn TB and cancer cells are not present in the fluid. She is recovering after surgery and we are still waiting for biopsy report.Doc is not clarifying any situation. Cam anybody help? This discussion is related to fluid retention.
Avatar m tn I have been hypo for a long time but only in the last year or so have experienced issues with being bloated all the time, swollen hands and feet and belly. I also feel fluid in my ears, and I think this is what is causing dizziness/light headedness. I feel like I am on a boat most of the day, most days. Does anyone have these too? do these sound like hypo symptoms or not? Thanks in advance.
