Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

Avatar n tn Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta, celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn I am just tired of taking medicenes that seem to cause other problems. I think I have the GERD from taking Actonel even though I followed the instructions to the letter for taking the Actonel. No longer take it. Just take calcium.
Avatar f tn I had a breast reduction in 2006. Since then I have had numerous problems with fat necrosis. How common is fat necrosis following breast reduction and what is the causes of this problem ? Also is fat necrosis painful? I also had a mammogram and ultrasound in July of 2008 with repeat films in December of 2008 which showed a increase in size of the fat necrosis in two separate areas. Any thoughts or comments on this issue. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn Non-hormonal biphosphonates (such as Fosamax and Actonel) increase bone strength and are available as once-a-week pills. These can also be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn what was formerly called piecemeal necrosis or limiting plate necrosis is now usually called "interface hepatitis".
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with fat necrosis (in one breast) after a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with a tram free flap. I noticed a little hardness in one breast. How is this treated? What is the long term prognosis? Will fat necrosis make imaging studies more difficult to read?
Avatar n tn I would definitely ask your doctor why she thinks it should be biopsied. Did your doctor mention fat necrosis? Fat necrosis is a benign condition, supposedly produced by trauma to the breast, considered somewhat rare (except in cosmetic surgery circles apparently). I don't believe it is as rare as indicated. I had a classic late stage fat necrosis lesion that was BIRADS 5 scary on the mammo and US.
624800 tn?1221801752 DCIS is ductal carcinoma in situ, also called grade 0 cancer, and is often referred to as "pre-cancer" because it is not yet invasive. I think cribiform has to do with the architecture of the malignancy. Not sure about micropapillary unless that means you have some tiny papilloma involved. I'm guessing with the central comedo necrosis but I think it has to do with the evolution of the area and its current state.
Avatar f tn After looking at my recent x rays he has informed me that I have Avascular Necrosis in both knees. My left knee joint has collapsed and the right one is heading for collapse. Can you tell me if Avascular Necrosis is a form of Arthritis? If so what do you get first Osteoarthritis or Avascular Necrosis?I am 55 years old.
Avatar n tn I was hit in the breast 12months ago by exercise equipment (really hard blow), had a bruise, not much pain, and it healed. Now I have a hard, firm, non-tender, non-moving pea size lump. Can trauma that long ago be producing a lump now? I do not recall any lumps at time of whammy to breast nor up to 2 weeks ago. Scheduled for mammo & ultrasound...if it's necrosis will it be obvious to the radiologist?
Avatar m tn My question is I am a 38 year old male that is been diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis of my right hip with the most recent x ray`s showing partial collaspe and a small fracture. I am in extreme pain every day I have not been able to find a surgeon that would do either a hip refurfacing or replacement. Is it common for someone my age to have to live with this type of extreme pain ?
Avatar n tn I recently had a tummy tuck and as a result have skin necrosis right above the pubic area. I am not or never have been a smoker. What could have caused this and how long will it take to heal? This discussion is related to swelling after tummy tuck.
Avatar n tn These came back normal too. He insisted I see a surgeon to evaluate it. I did and he believes that it is fat necrosis but is not sure and doing a breast biopsy on the 9th. I am so nervous. What are the chances that of a lump not showing up on a mammography but then is cancer?
Avatar f tn i have avascular necrosis of both hips had a transplant put on predisone which caused bone loss had the hip ball drilled out hoping to bring blood back after that theirs just replacement
Avatar m tn I'm curious about your Ultrasound report .... surely there must have been more to it than just the one word to lead to a biopsy. Did you get a copy of the report or just word from your Physician ?? I'd be interested in hearing more of the report ... if there is more; especially since the Mammogram was "normal". I wouldn't think the lump would be the result of the injury you mentioned since it was months ago but anything is possible.
Avatar n tn The real question is why has fat necrosis occurred. Fat necrosis develops from vascular insufficiency to the tissues. Is this the result of the surgery itself or contributed by some additional underlying condition. I am as puzzled as your surgeon probably is. Once the devascularized fat is removed, the pain and drainage should stop.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been diagonsed with Avascular Necrosis? If so, do they know what caused it?

Avatar n tn I had a follow up ultrasound which showed nonlinear acoustical shadowing at the lumpectomy site and coarse fat necrosis type calcifications. I am now scheduled for a VAC core biopsy next week. The radiologist is concerned that my mammograms have remained stable up until now and implied that it is probably a recurrence. My questions are what is the likelihood that this is a recurrence, and if it is not and is found to be benign would mastectomy still be an option.
Avatar n tn AVN means avascular necrosis, same as aseptic necrosis, ichemic necrosis, osteonecrosis.. they are all the same diseases.. not sure, but seems like they can't make up their minds on what to call it yet.. hehe chin up.. and let me know how you are doing.. will be thinking of you!!
Avatar f tn With a Fracture of the talus, there are different stages of the fracture. It all depends on the severity of the injury. I have whats called a Hawkins fracture type 3 ( http://www.joint-pain-expert.net/talus-fracture.html ). this website is quite informative. I had to have ORIF surgery and they had to screw the bone back together because it was broken into two halves between the head and the body. Ive been non weight bearing for 15 weeks and will be for 4 more.
