I am 3 years post breast cancer i had lumpectomy chemo rads i have taken tamoxofen for 2,5 years now on aromasil i had a bone density scan and was told i had low calcuim levels, now on calcuim sandox and actonel asked if i had osetoprosis and was told no have read around actonel and have not taken it yet as of the side effects please can you advice thanks.

I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . I am just tired of taking medicenes that seem to cause other problems. I think I have the GERD from taking Actonel even though I followed the instructions to the letter for taking the Actonel. No longer take it. Just take calcium.

I have my bed elevated abour 2 inches higher at the head and it really does help. I take 30 milligrams of Prevacid every single day and have taken it for nearly 9 years to control the GERD symptoms. You might want to ask your pharmacist for more specific directions as far as the timing of your meds. I take Actonel once a month and my pharmacist said it was fine to take it at the same time as my levothyroxine since Actonel is also supposed to be taking first thing in the morning. Don't mix meds unless you get an all clear from a pharmacist.

I have taken fosamax and actonel and have had stomach problems and aching bones. My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. t believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me. I am taking Paxil and for the last 10 years I was taking Actonel, until my doctor suggested I stop because of medical reports showing after long use, it stops working. I know the 2 problems are not linked, but still remain a concern. Is there a medication to stop me from my late night binges. This is when I eat the most. It seems there would be an appetite supressant that would be helpful.

Suzanne, Happy Birthday! I too often wonder how I got old so fast.lol Time flies I guess. I will check out that website. The drs won't let me take things like actonel or that class of drugs as my osteoporosis affected the bones in my jaw and they are afraid to take the chance as with those drugs there is a risk. I was disappointmented about the forteo. I think that drug is more dangerous than its worth personally. Are you still working as an RN?

it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.

t take the hydroxycholotquine. Can someone tell me if either med causes heartburn? Also, I would appreciate if you can tell me what side effects you have from it and how long you've been on it. I heard that it effects the eyes and makes your hair fall out.,etc.. I have to be honest..I'm SOOO scared of this medication!!! Does a person have to stay on it for life? Thanks.

Thank you for the response. I think I have had about every GI test done. Who checks hormonal endocrine imbalances. Metabolic issues, etc? I have had 4 thyroid nodule biopsies done now. I do have severe Osteoporosis and a new Internist I am going to has ordered a new bone density test. I have been having bad neck, low back and hip pain. I don't think my Endo doctor has been following up on that like she should but I won't take Actonel or Fosomax.

I know heartburn is common, but I have tried EVERYTHING to get try to ease the pain of it. Everything over the counter that I am allowed to take I have tried it and it has failed :( I've changed what I eat, drink, what times I eat and everything. Does anyone have any idea of what could possibly help ease this terrible symptom? At this point I'll try anything!

so i avoided liquids with my meals and it was like magic, heartburn was gone! i had it until week 20 and then suddenly i had 20 weeks of no heartburn. it was pretty amazing. anyway, you could give not drinking liquids with your meal. perhaps that will help. best of luck!

It's an old wives tale. I had very little heartburn with my first and she had a head full of fluffy dark hair lol. My friend had a lot of heartburn and her baby was bald.

Regular strength PepcidAC twice a day is what my doctor recommended. I've had excruciating heartburn since about 4months and it has been a God send! I'm 31weeks now and still take it twice a day.

From the first trimester I've had bad heartburn. Even water gives me heartburn chewable tums are my everything.
