actonel

Avatar f tn it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.

Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

720656 tn?1311040235 You might want to ask your pharmacist for more specific directions as far as the timing of your meds. I take Actonel once a month and my pharmacist said it was fine to take it at the same time as my levothyroxine since Actonel is also supposed to be taking first thing in the morning. Don't mix meds unless you get an all clear from a pharmacist.

Avatar n tn was used to described the cell change, and think it involved the length of the cell change in the esophagus. Obviously, the goal is stop the cell changes from getting worse. I had what is called a Nissen Fundoplication procedure which tightened the valve that keeps the acid where it belongs (stomach) and not in the esophagus, and it was quite successful. My Sister in Law is a Naturopathic Doctor but suffers with GERD and also got a Barrett's Esophagus diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I decided to go off the medication after about 6 months and the heartburn came back so I was sent for a scope. The scope came back clear, no damage to esophagus or no signs of barretts. The recommendation from the gastroenterologist was to go back on nexium for 3 months and them use as needed. That was 5 years ago and I have been keeping the reflux under control since with combinations of ppis, Zantac and any antacids. Ocassionally I would have a flair up when I stopped the meds.

Last month my doc lowered my syntroid from 0.125 to 0.112, a few days after that I started coughing, after every meals I can feel some food still stay at my esophagus which caused me to cough constantly. It's been a month coughing, got antibiotic but it doesn't help.

Avatar n tn I was told 3 yrs ago that I have both Nutcracker Esophagus and Achalasia. I was told the only help was botox, yes BOTOX shots in my esophagus. The water trick is great for those for whom it works. Unfortunately, if I attempt to put anything in my esophagus during a spasm, it comes right back out plus I get to choke on it. Not much fun and more painful than words can describe. I have a lot of chest pain and nitro is the only thing that even begins to help.
