Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

Avatar n tn I am just tired of taking medicenes that seem to cause other problems. I think I have the GERD from taking Actonel even though I followed the instructions to the letter for taking the Actonel. No longer take it. Just take calcium.
Avatar m tn Non-hormonal biphosphonates (such as Fosamax and Actonel) increase bone strength and are available as once-a-week pills. These can also be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
387405 tn?1200291137 It all depends on the type of cataracts and how fast they progress and how they affect your vision. Some cataracts develop very, very slowly over 10 years or more and others progress over a few months. Some patients can have very dense cataracts and not be particularly bothered while others with very small posterior subcapsular cataracts can be very bothered especially by glare.
Avatar m tn Was wondering if anyone has had problems cataracts during or after treatment? It seems it holds true for some with preexisting conditions to be heightened during treatment and the lasting effects after.
220090 tn?1379167187 Now if I could find a young women with cataracts, I might have a chance - LOL.
Avatar f tn Another side effect of high doses or prolonged use of prednisone (or other steroids) is the development of cataracts. Cataracts are generally thought of as a condition of older persons. However, because prednisone accelerates the natural aging process, it can cause cataracts to develop in younger people. Unlike some side effects, such as facial “mooning,” increased appetite, hair growth, and acne, a cataract will not abate after the course of steroid treatment is complete.
1157141 tn?1262451698 I have had cataracts surgery done on both eyes. My question is...do the lens last for lifetime or there is a time limit on them.
Avatar f tn His eyes also seem a little bulgy and is pupils seem larger than I remember. Could my dog have cataracts? Does anyone know if this can be corrected? I certainly don't want my dog to go blind and if there is something I can do to prevent it I will.
Avatar f tn Well, she said that she could not correct my vision with different lenses because I have I have cataracts! Since I did not have them a year ago when I saw her she thinks that it may be a side effect of the drugs. Has anyone got cataracts from tx. I never heard anyone mention it before.Well, I am having surgery on Feb. 23rd.
436837 tn?1293793226 Our mix breed has cataracts, he functions well but at 16 although the vet claims he is 13, we claim he is 2 the way he acts, we worry how bad this will get.We don't want him to be blind and have to put him "down".The vet says it is a sign of aging and just go with the flow.Surgery is beyond our financial means, I am not working right and no way will we be approved for financial anything.anyone else had to deal with this?
Avatar f tn Has anyone had success in reversing or diminishing cataracts? If so, what did you do? Thanks.
Avatar m tn What do you suspect cataracts rather than merely a need for glasses, do you have a family history of early cataracts? You are young for cataracts, though they do happen at that age (mine appeared at 49, several years older than you, but still younger than usual).
784558 tn?1276007829 had reading glasses prescribed, I was assured that there were no cataracts or other problems. In May I noticed that my eyes were not in synch. After another test in was referred to the Eye Dept. of local hospital, where the Doc. found both eyes had cataracts. An appointment's been made for me to have an appointment prior to Catarct Surgery. My question is : Is such a rapid onset of Cataracts 'normal?' I'm taking anti-depressants, perhaps they have an influence?
Avatar f tn I was born with congenital lamellar cataracts, now my eyesight is fine, in fact many optomologists sung praises for how good it is, I have had surgery to remove the left and insert an IOL at 5, and the right is actually stable and my vision is 20/40 with glasses so they haven’t ever bothered to touch it. I guess my only question is about systemic concerns, a few years ago an eye doctor referred me to a genetic counselor about disorders related to congenital cataracts.
Avatar n tn Does having cataracts that are posterior subcapsular, and very rapidly growing indicate that I may have the beginning stages of Glaucoma?
Avatar m tn That said is there any way of differentiating the symptoms between glaucoma and cataracts in a non-diabetic patient that suffers from cataracts? I read glaucoma may be asymptomatic and if there are symptoms they are similar to those of cataracts so only an evaluation could tell..acute pain being one of them, but I have dry eyes so I was told my eyes may be sore occasionally from that. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Well Dr. Fazio, I went for my second opinion and am stymied at what he told me. He said my cataracts are polar cataracts (which I've had all my life and I knew that I had them all my life) What I didn't know is that they are 'polar' cataracts and that they are more risky to remove. He said my eyes are 20/25 in my right and 20/30 in my left, and these numbers are with or without correction.
