How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. This discussion is related to Atrial Fibulation / Multi-Infarct Dimentia.

Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar n tn I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn One may develop some kind of intestinal problems with Actonel and the alternative to that is to not to take drug empty stomach, that is to take it after a meal. Please let us know if you may have nay other queries and what your doctor says. Good luck.
Avatar n tn As far as I understand it, no. The TMJ area and the nerves associated with it usually result in problems near the TMJ and the ear. It, of course, can also affect the teeth and the bite, etc. If you're concerned about your TMD and some vision problems, I suggest you go to a TMJ specialist to see if there may be something going on.
779797 tn?1263618235 A hole in a tooth does not cause TMJ but the pain and infection could exacerbate the TMJ symptoms. Fearing dentist is normal and we do see it every day but there are also a lot of dentists who do provide sedation dentistry. Visit www.top3dentist.com to find appropriate dentist.
Avatar m tn You know, this is coming from a 23 year old who has his own theory on the whole TMJ thing. It's all about posture and how strong your muscles are. If you work on stretching and bodyweight exercises (for your entire body, that will eventually translate to your neck/jaw), you can reverse the effects with due time. Just a few words of wisdom...
Avatar m tn Been to every doctor and everything is fine. My Vitamin D is low and I am working on that. I have TMJ and that may be the cause. I went to a TMJ dentist and he gave me muscle relaxers. I took them for a month and my muscles calmed down. He asked if the dizzy went away and I told him no. He said well I guess it's not the TMJ that is causing it. Can that be right?
1232362 tn?1333135406 I called, made an appt. The Dr. was my hero. It was TMJ (very serious case) and they made a bite plate for me to wear, and he adjusted my jaw so that little disc snapped back into place and that was 4 years ago and I haven't had a problem, migraine since! So, yes TMJ can cause migraines. The Neuro Docs just don't want to look at that aspect because it' more dental (jaw and teeth) then brain and they're only solution is meds! Hope you find relief.
2932946 tn?1344722012 I'm not sure if TMJ is common with Chiari or not, but I do have both. The best thing I have found to help with my TMJ is a mouth guard from my dentist that I use at night. I tried over the counter guards, but this is the only one that has worked for me. I also take aleve or another OTC pain killer before going to the dentist because holding my mouth open that wide makes my jaw hurt. Good luck!
Avatar f tn A disk in my left TMJ became displaced, my jaw was in a closed lock for almost a year and I was diagnosed with TMJ internal derangement and osteoarthritis. Muscle spasms and pain were very common in the beginning but have since subsided. My health is otherwise good. I have not lost any weight whatsoever to explain the wasting.

The muscle wasting became very apparent at age 27-28 and came about so quickly that this cannot be normal aging.

Avatar m tn I still havent found significant relief and i did question my dentist about TMJ when I first started having the headaches and she didnt feel there was a correlation. However, i recently found a website run by a dentist who limits his practice to treating headache pain and states that he has advanced diagnostics, including xrays and a doppler in which he can accurately determine if TMJ is contributory to the pain or perhaps the main cause.
Avatar m tn Non-hormonal biphosphonates (such as Fosamax and Actonel) increase bone strength and are available as once-a-week pills. These can also be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Has anyone with TMJ ever experienced a pinching/burning sensation at the top of their head? I also have some tingling and burning in legs. Both sides of my jaw feel very tight and I do have a clicking on the ride side. Not sure if these symptoms are TMJ related?
Avatar f tn I have terrible jaw pain that also affected my ears and down to my neck, it was found that my atlas was out of alignment causing tmj symptoms and even limited ability to open my mouth. A experienced oral surgeon gave me sleeping meds and ultram and put me on a liquid and soft food diet and it calmed down after 6months of intense pain everyday.
401095 tn?1351391770 said I have calcified tondons in my jaw and severe tmj..fitted me for a spling and have a 10 day wait for it to come in...turned down the narcotics offered and told heim i have a high tolerence and 30 lortabs would be gone by friday if i had them...i felt good about being honest...he said narcotics actually make u clench ur teeth even worse so it was not the pain med of choice anyway unless i just had to to make it thru work..
Avatar n tn I do not think it is related to the TMJ and I would have it checked out by your dentist or an oral surgeon.
Avatar f tn First off, I'm new to the board, so I apologize if this has been asked before. I've Googled and Yahooed repeatedly and haven't found anything definitive about this. I have a whole slew of symptoms, starting ten years ago or so, that almost seem to fit a diagnosis of fibromyalgia better than one of MS, chief among them lots of muscle and joint pain, sleep disturbances, and TMJ. But I don't have tender points.
Avatar n tn t think I needed one but that I had lots of clicking and popping in my jaw and it was probably TMJ. I have been on anti-inflammatories for 6 weeks now and the pain seems to get a little better but I have times when the pain in my ear reminds me of some of the worst earaches I had as a child. The pain is all along the nerve that was injected to numb my tooth.
746512 tn?1388807580 Wow, somedays I want to run out on the streets and scream--IT'S NOT YOUR BITE THAT CAUSES TMJ PROBLEMS, IT'S THE OTHER WAY AROUND. My profession is unfortunately stuck in the dark ages on this one. I have literally successfully treated hundreds of patients that had previous orthodontics and jaw surgery (not the TMjoint) to 'solve' their TMJ issues (and it didn't). I don't walk on water--can barely swim, but I've learned to improve on my past failures.
996282 tn?1256252213 I was just diagnosed as having hypothyroid, was given the conventional thyroid hormone ( I will not take this until I find the root of the problem) also I have tmj, I did a lot of research and found that thyroid dysfunction and Adrenal exhaustion (caused by stressors) lead to tmj (jaw clenching) causing severe head aches, jaw muscles aches, blocked ears, ringing in ears and all this may be connected to the thyroid.
