Actonel and thigh fractures

Common Questions and Answers about Actonel and thigh fractures

actonel

Avatar m tn In 2011, the agency voiced concerns that taking the drugs long-term may actually make bones weaker and increase the risk of rare but serious side effects such as atypical fractures of the thigh bone, esophageal cancer and osteonecrosis of the jaw, a rare but painful condition in which the jaw bone crumbles. To investigate, the FDA reviewed data from women who had taken the drugs for six to 10 years.
Avatar f tn I did find a small group with similar symptoms but my Doc said it was not the Nexium. I stopped it and within 4 days, the flank and thigh pain were gone. I was later put on Omeprazole, 40 mg 2x a day fir the past few months. Not sure yet, but my low back muscles are killing me. I do have Osteo and my Endo doc told me to take B-12, Vitamin E and Calcium as I won't take Fisomax or Actonel. You may consider this.

225237 tn?1333138999 I woke up this morning with discomfort in my upper thigh and hip area. I dont recall doing anything to injure it! Its not a really bad pain just mild. but it is uncomftable.....what could it be?? What should i do ??
Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar m tn This happened two days ago when I was out walking in the yard, on uneven ground. After the fall my low back began to hurt terribly along with my pelvis and left thigh (front of thigh mostly). Well I'm starting back into PT for the forth time today but doubtful this will help. Anyone else had a similar experience?
Avatar m tn hi when i got kicked in thigh by horse the pain had subsided by two weeks i would go back cos it could of damaged nerves tendons etc and you shouldnt have swellling round ankle if been hit in thigh
Avatar f tn This is due to the compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve as it exits the pelvis.Treatment is symptomatic and supportive and usually involves wearing looser clothing, weight reduction, and avoiding prolonged standing or walking. If this persists, it would be good to see a neurologist to evaluate this nerve and other leg nerves that could also be involved. (http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/meralgia_paresthetica/meralgia_paresthetica.htm) I hope this helps.
1674301 tn?1304097237 My pulled hamstring healed and the bruise went away, but it still hurt to touch my leg where the bruise was. I also started getting burning in my thigh and sharp pains which I could live with. A few weeks later I woke up with what felt like lightning bolts shooting through my left thigh with the pain going across to my other thigh. These pains paralyzed me because any amount of movement caused more lightning bolt pain.
Avatar n tn I took Forteo for 10 months. and i can barely walk. i took Tymlos for the first 6 months and was fine, and then Forteo for 10 months. my strength is gone, my feet hurt wearing shoes, i have stomach pain when exercising, and ave thigh muscle cramps, neck pain, and can't sleep. I had confusion when driving, so i told my doctor i'm done with this. I know where i'm going these days, but I now use a walker around the house, elastic knee braces to walk on my own.
Avatar f tn Have bruise on left hip from point of impact but also had a long thin bruise below my buttock and along my inner thigh. I was given a girdle brace to wear but cannot wear it. It cause incredible pain in these areas within minutes. I also have numbness at the base of my spine along with the surrounding area being super sensitive. I also have pain going down my buttock into hip and down to my knee. When laying down I have extreme pain while trying to move.
Avatar m tn Now I am starting to get stretch marks on just this thigh on the inside and it is becoming more sensitive. Do you have any suggestions on what this could be, or how to get rid of it? When I went to the hospital when I got hit I was told that it was a hematoma and should be gone within six months. Well I will just restate that I was 12 when this injury occurred, and I am now 19.
Avatar m tn He keeps saying that it is atrophy in the thigh muscle, but I really think that is not so. I fell at 0930 in the morning and the hip replacement was at around 1900 the same day. I was walking with a walker 3 days later, The pain is worse in the morning after getting up. I have never had knee or fluid retention problems. A second opinion is difficult as I live in a remote area of Thailand.
Avatar f tn I have what I can only describe as a twisting feeling in the muscle of my thigh when I walk, a deep pain along pubic bone, and pain all around hip when moving. really feel hip is not sitting right and the tight muscle feeling spreads further up my torso as the day wears on.
Avatar m tn I was in a martial arts class and sustained a contusion to my outer thigh, approx. 5 inches above my knee. The trama was severe enough that I could not stand for several minutes and then could only, barely, limp around. For the first several days, only the point of impact was painful. After about a week, the pain started spreading across both my anterior and posterior thigh muscles.
Avatar m tn I have a sharp pain in my left hip/thigh. I have no idea where it came from, but the only way I have delt with it is with Ibuprophen. What's so wierd is that it hurts worse when I stand up, climb stairs and get out of bed. When I'm sitting down I know it's there, but I can usually deal with it. When I finally do get up, I can usually walk albeit slow, but bearable. I have never had a pain like this, go on this long. It's been about 3 months now.
Avatar m tn being a real A##) and as a result my stress and anxiety levels were so high that I began clenching and have since fractures 3 teeth needed 3 root canals and now finally I am getting fitted for a night guard to help prevent any more fractures. There is NO way this infection would be dormant in me as one already surfaces anyway and I could not have been strong enough to keep that dormant. ALTHOUGH...what are the conditions of a virus being dormant???
Avatar f tn Nonunion or failure of the fracture to heal occurs in 10-30% of fractures of the neck of the femur (thigh bone) which is usually apparent within one year of the fracture and may be accompanied by osteonecrosis (bone death), irrespective of the cause of fracture. Majority of patients with non-union will require a re-operation.
Avatar f tn m wondering what is her out look for recovery and the best home treatment such as the safest exercises and should she use a donut coushion or what not to do .
Avatar n tn I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn Not long ago a report was released about a possible link between these drugs and esophagal cancer - and also femur fractures because long term use of these drugs can actually cause brittle bones. The new recommendation from doctors (including my new primary care) is to not use them more than 5 years. Sorry to throw some scare out there - but I've spent 5 years reading all I can about osteoporosis, and those drugs would be the very last option for me. I stress, for "me".
Avatar n tn One may develop some kind of intestinal problems with Actonel and the alternative to that is to not to take drug empty stomach, that is to take it after a meal. Please let us know if you may have nay other queries and what your doctor says. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I stopped Levaquin and contacted my dr. who changed the antibiotic and told me to take motrin for the inflammation and explained that tendon rupture was rare on Levaquin. This is day 4 I'm walking with a slight limp due to stiffness inner thigh and weight bearing. Now with episodic painful stabbing sensation in soft tissue rt foot. Concerned about short and long term effects or late effects since I have MS and do not have mobility issues until now.
1532491 tn?1294594944 Cracking sound in hip joint generally indicates arthritis. Hip joint pain can also be due to old fractures, avascular necrosis of head of thigh bone (poor blood supply), muscle strain, inflammation of tendon and even due to sciatica. An X-ray of the joint, followed by MRI of the joint and lower spine, and nerve conduction studies may be required for confirmed diagnosis. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar m tn Among them are some 500,000 vertebral or spine fractures, 250,000 hip fractures, and 240,000 wrist fractures. The numbers are different in different countries: reported incidences of hip fractures are highest in the US and Northern Europe; intermediate in Mediterranean and Asian countries, and lowest in South Africa, particularly in the areas where people follow traditional ways of life. There are more fractures among city dwellers than among country folk.
