accutane

Avatar m tn http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/accutane/hashimoto's+thyroiditis That's poorly written documentation and they don't give any details of the study. It says "On June 8, 2013: 26,700 people reported side effects when taking Accutane. Among them, 47 people (0.18%) have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis"....... It doesn't indicate that the Accutane "caused" the Hashimoto's; it simply said that 47 people had it...... AND 47 out of 26, 700 is a pretty small number.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the Crohn's Community Forum. I have had Crohn's for 40 yrs, dx when I was 24 yrs old. Cortisone IS used to treat Crohn's, but now only for short periods, say 3-4 months, because of the side effects of long term use. If the Crohn's is in the terminal ileum area and/or first part of the colon, a newer steroid, Entocort can be used, which does not have the debilitating, and embarrassing, side effects that prednisolone and prednisone do.
Avatar n tn However, this and other side effects wore off as my body got used to the medication. I had no side effects, except for dry lips, from 12 weeks onwards and took Accutane for 24 weeks. Side effects are generally dose related. Taking Accutane at the recommended dose for 16 to 24 weeks is your son's best hope of a long term remission from acne. The recommended dose is between 0.5 and 1mg x kg bodyweight per day. So your son should take between 30mg and 60mg per day because he weighs about 60kg.

Avatar n tn I am so worried about him being on this medication. There are so many reported side effects with this, I wonder what the percentage of people experience these side effects. Why would his back be hurting. What exactly is the Claravis doing to his back? This discussion is related to Accutane- side effect - joint ache.

Avatar f tn Is this documented that Accutane does cause premature epiphyseal closure? If so why is this drug being prescribed and why isn't this on the long list of side effects. My son was on this and he has not grown since, or while taking it. He was just past his 14th birthday when he took it. His acne was severe and it is also now back. It did clear up for a short time. He is only 5, 5. I started typing in about accutane and growth and have come up with a long list of concerncs about growth.
Avatar n tn Anyone here get their Crohn's after taking Accutane for acne ? Apparently an association has been found and some lawsuits are being successful. I got my first symptoms about two months after finishing the drug cycle. Just curious if anyone else experienced this with Accutane ?
Avatar m tn Hello, I am a 20 year old male and have been taking accutane (claravis) for about 5 months now. I am taking two 40mg pills twice a day... I have experienced a few annoying side effects but one of the major ones i have noticed is hair loss. I had very thick hair pre-accutane and i noticed hair-thnning lately and my hairline as also been receding. This is driving me crazy. Will this be a permanent side-effect or temporary and will my hair come back to its original hair-line.
1518347 tn?1290837751 Hello, The symptoms can be due to GI side effects of Accutane. These include inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, colitis, esophagitis/esophageal ulceration, ileitis, nausea, other nonspecific gastrointestinal symptoms. I suggest you to consult your doctor and discuss these side effects with your doctor. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Accutane was pulled off the market in 2009. I find it alarming that this drug is back on the market again. Accutane side effects include Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which include Accutane induced Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis; Having your colon removed; Severe depression or suicidal tendencies; Heart attack, stroke, seizure or lowered blood cell count. And there are many other side effects of Accutane mentioned in many comments online and includes joint pain.
Avatar m tn My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling. If the accutane permanently damaged my joints or hindered my athletic performance I would be devastated. My question is, how long should I take accutane and at what dose?
Avatar n tn Accutane has alot of varied side-effects, but some people don't have adverse reactions. my girlfriend had taken accutane and didn't have any stomach reactions but part of the accutane contract requires birth control regardless of activity. But I know my gf's opinion i: " Accutane is great" It worked for her really well for acne, and she didn't exhibit negative side effects from it.
Avatar m tn Dear quan31 , Thanks for writing in. First of all, please remember that the effects and side effects of accutane will last only for 6 months. So you don't need to bother about it too much. Side effects like dryness of eyes occur only while you are accutane and not after many months of withdrawal of drug. The flushing in your case may be due to acne rosacea which could concomitantly occur with acne vulgaris or after many months.
Avatar m tn Discuss with your dermatologist. If you don't want to accept the possiblity of those side effects then don't take the medications. All medications have side effects. Each year several thousand people bleed to death from aspirin. One person's cure is another person's side effect. The only people that would have you believe that if a side effect occurs the doctor or the pharmaceutical company did something wrong are trial lawyers.
501944 tn?1224056021 Just started 6mp today for chrons disease and very concerned about the side effects. Im on half of a pill of 6mp for two weeks then a whole pill after that. I am also on 4 pills a day of endocort and 8 pills a day of pentasa. Not to mention vitamens. I have felt sick most of the day today, just wish something would work. Its exhausting being on so much medicine. I was diagnosed with Crohns in Dec., big lifestyle change for only being 26.
Avatar f tn Oh i know i hate it. i dont really eat a whole lot of anything so my diet really isnt my problem. I dont know what the problem is honestly. I just wish that something productive was being done. Thankfully I have found a doctor that I absolutely adore as a doctor. The first gastro doctor I went to told me there was no hope for me and that I was just going to have to live with the pain for the rest of my life.
Avatar m tn I have been on Accutane ( Claravis) on 40 mg for a month, I was upped to 60 mg but just went back down do to side effects. My vision has gotten blurry in the distance and I recently visited my optometrist and told him this and that I was on the drug. He took a paper with all the visual side effects of Accutane and checked me for everything even threw in a glaucoma exam and tear producing test and said everything was normal.
546892 tn?1214525401 Before begining treatment with Accutain, an individual should discuss about his condition with the health care provider for the possible accutane benefits and side effects in order to get it clear whether the treatment is right. Avatar n tn However, I have found that to varying degrees Remicade and Humira give me the following side effects. I am trying to find out if these are normal side effects and if anyone has found a way to manage them. Physical therapy is not giving me enough relief at this point.
