There is no 'high' with abilify so I think you are safe. I take it for bipolar disorder. If you were to take more than you needed you would make yourself sick but not high because each dosage increase often causes side effects like nausea and constipation. Your brain will get used to the drug and discontinuing it will cause certain symptoms. But it isn't addiction. It is just your brain complaining because you are altaring its chemistry. So I think you are okay.

Forgot to mention 15 mg. does seem like a high dose of Abilify. Pehaps the does is way too high. I'm on 2mg and my doc says most of his patients are on 5-8mg. a day. I bet the high dose may have caused the panic attacks. Check the side effects, nervousness may be one and in you it could manifest as panic attacks. Best of luck!!

She is switching me to Abilify and started me on 5mg once daily to see how I react. I also get my Lithium level checked in the morning. So, I want to know how Abilify is for you guys that take it! I am worried because I have had troubles taking Atypicals. She said Abilify is different and will perk me up. I read that it causes drowsiness??? So what is that all about? my doctor has given to me abilify and wellbutrin, is it good for quit smoke and go school well? i cant go school well. i cant stay in classroom. even i cant go to school. i always want to stay at home. i am out of my home, i quickly want to go back my house. also i smoke 3 packet cigarette in a day. also i have serious sleep disorder. i explained my problems to my doctor. then he gave me wellbutrin and abilify combination. what do you think about it?

I take an AD along with Abilify. Within a week after Abilify was added I started to feel better. Right now I take 15 mg but I have taken as much as 30mg. I did get akathisia from it (restlessness ) but added propranolol which stopped it. Akathisia is a common side effect.

also, i used to have the same problem, and I was actually experiencing really high BP and when my BP got high I would get dizzy lean forward and slightly sway then my eyes would black out and I couldnt see anything for a few seconds.....mosty I think you should talk with your prescribing Dr. about involuntary muscle movements because it cane become VERY severe if not adressed.

I am currently on Geodone because that was the one with the most tolerable side effects. I get bad agitation, shake to the point I had one person assume I had Parkinson's disease, and have lost a considerable amount of weight to the point I am down to a size four when I should be closer to a size six. Needless to say I really want to get off the Geodone. I also have Chronic Kidney Disease so taking more meds would be a bad idea. I am wondering about Abilify instead of Geodone.

I don't know the history of your son's medications, obviously. I don't know if so many didn't work he ended up on Paxil (a high dose at that) and abilify (as mentioned above, a medication approved reluctantly by FDA and only for limited purposes for what I assume were good reasons). What I do know is these are two very difficult medications to take and to stop taking, and would be a very strange place to start for just OCD.

I take ABilify and it's amazing how fast it evens you out, within 2 weeks. I have all the above disorders and have been on all the SSSR'i too but none helped. Abilify was the only thing that helped me get through those mood swings.

I recently changed antipsychotics from Zeldox (Geodone) 160mg to Abilify 10mg. I am also on 200mg of lamotrigine and 50mg of Trazodone. I took my first full dose of Abilify on Friday the 6th and today is the 11th The Abilify is working about 70%. My doctor wants me to start on Abilify but I declined after I read the side effects. Has anyone had any uncontrolled movements, weight gain, tardive dyskinesia, etc. with this medication. I tried to stop taking zoloft and abilify about three months ago. I tapered off the zoloft and stopped the abilify cold turkey, per doctor's advice. I had mild side effects for the first month and then totally crashed. Needless to say, I called my doctor in desperation and was represcribed both medications. I feel much better, but am still very serious about stopping the medications sooner than later.

You need to get yourself to a doctor who will take the time to listen to you. Tomorrow! You might want to consider developing a full treatment plan for yourself-meaning doc, psychiatrist, therapist who are all working together for your good. I know, it is expensive (I'm doing it right now to stop the "mess of a mother thing"), but you can often approach your church to help with the cost of the visits.

if you bp then your more than ,.Ikey high and low is what bp is..the ablifi can make you mania even when its working..but you also need to be on something for deppreshion such as lamictail.....talk this over with ur pdoc..but yes most bi polars are on ore than 1 med...some takes yrs to get there =combo..i took ablifi it threw me into mania in 4 days...

When I do they are usually stress induced. My psychiatrist gave me Abilify. Does anyone have insight on this drug? My psychiatrist said the most common side effects are muscle twitching and muscle stiffness. I have been on the same meds for years and I am really scared to take a new one.

My doctor is checking my hormone levels because my periods have stopped and I am lactating. He said if my hormone levels are high I can either add Abilify or replace the Risperdal altogether. I'm on Abilify too and my pdoc said that it is a blanketed warning required by the FDA because another medication in that class caused a few pre-market study participants to have raised blood sugar levels. He said it's not anything to worry about. If you feel better having your sugar checked every couple months, have your doc write an order for bloodwork. there is 1 test they do called an AC#### I donm't know the numbers but your doc will and it tests your overall blood sugar.

All because of Lamictal and Abilify. Recommend that you do a search for Abilify side affects. She should be weaned off that dangerous drug.
