Abilify and kidney problems

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify and kidney problems

Avatar n tn For the past four days, I have been urinating blood, and not oh it's pink, It is completely opaque red. I have no pain at all... is this a kidney infection, or something more serious like kidney failure, or a tumor I don't know at this point I'm on Topamax, Wellbuitrin, and Fluoxetine Thank you for any suggestions or tips or comparable stories, and yes I'm going to the dr. I would like to know what to expect.
86075 tn?1238118691 Peter Julien describes Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA), the minimally-invasive procedure used to treat small liver, lung, kidney and bone tumors. Here is the website...http://extratv.warnerbros.com/2009/03/0307_dr_julien_raw.php Just thought I'd pass this on to all who would be interested...sounds very promising! Peace and happiness to all!
Avatar n tn No history of bedwetting as a child. I take abilify (3yrs.), paxil (10yrs.), lorepazam (10yrs.), ritalin (5mo.), and ambien (1yr.). History of frequent UTI's (about 3-4x per year), and kidney infections (about 4 in lifetime). About 2 years ago I started having nighttime incontinence, and I was suspicious of abilify as a potential cause.
Avatar f tn Abilify worked for stress, but it still had mental side effects, such as stuttering, and not thinking or understanding clearly, social anxiety, weight gain, and I cried all the time and I only liked sad things. And Abilify made me have limited interests. What kept me on abilify, was the increased interest for the limited interests that Abilify made me had. I've always loved animation, but Abilify increased that, and I was obsessed with animation.
Avatar m tn Hi, If you have not been given a firm diagnosis of BP and you dont sound like you have BP if you don't have mood swings then I'm assuming that the main problem here is the addiction to sex and the problems with your pupils? Correct me if this summary is incorrect :-) I am no expert on sex addiction but have heard that cognitive behaviour therapy is a way towards dealing with that. As for medications to control it, I have no idea, certainly nothing I've read springs to mind at the moment.
Avatar f tn I read side effets of drugs like Depakote, Lamactil, Abilify and Seroquel and blanch and yet people who look at Lithium see it as scary... May be that I am biased because it works for me but its nothing to be scared of.
Avatar n tn As long as you have a good doctor though, they are probably prescribing what you need, maybe medicines won't have the same affect on you as it does some people. There are probably many people who take it and have no problems. Good luck whatever you decide with your health issues!
Avatar m tn My girlfriend is experiencing intense abdominal pains and is both vomiting and urinating blood. She also feels weak and fatigued and when I asked her to grab some water she was afraid she'd fall on the way. She says there's a lot of blood and it's dark in color. She is also sweating a lot and she's going into deep sleep which I can't wake her up when I usually can (I am talking to her on a web camera though). Her nurse told her a few weeks to get it checked out but she hasn't yet.
1002601 tn?1264527089 My son was injured this summer and has suffered neuro symptoms, my father died, my son was diagnosed with kidney issues, I have suspected kidney issues, had a ruptured cyst, panick attack and ended up in ER.... you get the point. But I'm not dealing well with these things at all. In fact, I'm pretty much non functional at this point. I cry, I scream, I get angry, and I panic. I never experienced suicide ideation before being on Klonopin.
Avatar f tn Ok be there in 45 minutes, they show up in an hour, here's your new kidney! And they don't ask you for money cuz you're a member. But...life has to go and be hard, so that doesn't exist. Plus now, I'm on a higher dose of depression meds and an additional depression medication, and I'm still depressed. Go frickin figure. My oral chemo dose went up cuz the ish is just spreading like wildfire, and it really feels like there's nothing I can do about it. So what did I do?
Avatar n tn Like i said i have been on 5 years and get blood work twice a year and my liver kidney and other organs are perfect! My blood pressure and cholesterol are perfect too, im very healthy and i work out too. Opiates if taken RESPONSIBLY which 90% of people cant do and dont have the self control to do, but if you have strong will power and take them responsibly instead of just getting ****** up out of your mind all day, then they are MUCH better for you than xanax and other benzos.
Avatar f tn I finally was able to get rid of him, not just due to the Abilify snafu but because he never listened to me or my problems instead his sole purpose was to push unneeded medications on people. I stopped taking Abilify seven months, with my primary physician's approval, before I told my Shrink -- he was not happy with me in the least. Of course, the same day I told him I'd been off the Abilify for seven months was also the day I fired him.
Avatar f tn Rather than doing what I did, you may want to dump the SSRI's and SNRI meds as well as the Mood stabilizing meds like Lamictal and Abilify. Lamictal and Abilify never seem to work very well for us Uni-polar folks. I have tried them before with my AD meds just as a booster and mood stabilizer and I have found that Eskalith 450cr works the best for a booster type effect on AD meds such as SSRI's, SNRI's and Tri-cyclics.
Avatar f tn I am worried about the side effects as she said they can cause liver and kidney problems. Could anyone who is on similar medication for BP give me some information on what their experience of such medications have been and if they have helped their condition? Is it a good idea to allow the doctor to treat me using these medications, what are the benefits and side effects.
Avatar f tn I'm on Lamictal and now Abilify, and haven't noticed a difference in my appetite and have lost weight (I've been on the Lamictal for over a year, just got on the Abilify). I took Depakote in the past and gained a lot of weight... but I, too, know those who haven't gained a pound on it. I have a feeling it was my college eating habits combined with the fatigue from new meds - and letting it run my life - that led to the gain.
Avatar n tn Vitamin B6 and magnesium lower before and during a period (which relates to PMS symptoms). Do not take magnesium supplements if you have any kidney problems. Magnesium and epilepsy: "Wayne was only four years old, but he had been suffering epileptic seizures for 3 1/2 years. Though the seizures were particularly severe during stress periods, he was never completely free of them. Anticonvulsant drugs were used, but none was successful.
Avatar n tn I am toxic on my Lithium even at lower doses, dehydration, extreme sensitivity to heat, digestive and bowel problems- sometimes extreme, sores in my mouth and skin, flu like symptoms, extreme weakness. So why not just give up lithium? It is the only thing that has EVER connected my brain.... every other med has either just flat NOT WORKED or just sedated me to a vegetable and my brain was still crazy. I use other meds when I get sick but the only psyc meds I take are lithium and wellbutrin.
Avatar f tn I began, on my own, to wean myself off venlafaxine (Effexor) and aripiprazole (Abilify) and put myself on lithium. After 4 days at 300 mg, last night I increased the dosage to 600 mg. I have my fingers crossed. We will see. By the way, as you know by now, you definitely need frequent blood test to ensure that your plasma lithium level is sufficient. Also, annual an semi-annual blood tests for thyroid and kidney function.
Avatar m tn So do you think that reducing the dosage will help her sleeping problems and the feeling of restlessness? And do you mind if you let me know what kind of meds did you took? .
3123787 tn?1384184287 If there is difficulty in urinating, further evaluation by your attending physician should be done to rule out kidney issues and other medical conditions associated with your diagnosis. As mentioned from the other post, to rule out NMS, additional tests such as blood tests and direct clinical examination are important. Take care always.
8520825 tn?1398515060 You can monitor things like blood sugar and lipid levels--metabolic problems don't appear overnight. You could also consider one of the anticonvulsant mood stabilizers, like lamotrigine (you might need something else anti-manic with this), carbemazepine, or one of the valproates (but those tend to cause weight gain). Lithium is also an option, although you'd have to watch thyroid and kidney function. Again, those issues don't appear overnight.
Avatar m tn Neuropathy (nerve damage), bipolar illness (mental illness-physiatrists) (joint pains and swelling (arthritis), cryoglobenemia (enlargement of the spleen, skin vasculitis with purplish patches, and nerve, kidney and heart disease). A few of your symptoms could be due to your liver disease or they could be related to your other heath issues or side effects from al the drugs you are taking. * mild confusion on occasion. forgetful more than usual. very mild ankle swelling.
Avatar m tn I tried Zoloft, Cymbalta, Zyprexa, Valium, Elavil, Xanax (made me more nervous), Klonopin, Ativan (currently on), Abilify and Seroquel. None of these medicines, on any dose took away my panic or anxiety. I had a 24 hour urine collection to test for tumors on my adrenal glands, as well as my dopamine level, etc. But it came back normal. I started taking Effexor, after doing some serious research of my own. After 3 days on the low dose, I felt healed. I felt amazing and incredible.
700212 tn?1240764420 ) rediscovered it in 1949 when he noticed its efficacy in tests on animals while researching Schizophrenia - its the most commonly prescribed mood stabiliser in the world and one of the only true mood stabilisers - many of the newer prescribed drugs such as Abilify and Lamactil and the like are actually Anti Psychotics and Anti epileptics with a mood stabilising side effect.
202665 tn?1248810333 I am on 200mg Seroquel in the morn, 100 mg Seroquel at noon, and 300 mg at night. I also take 20 mg of Abilify, and 30mg of Cipralex (anti-depressant). In order to sleep, I have been taking Clonazapam or Diazapam - 4 pills or more as required - 5mg. The only beef I have about Seroquel is the rapid weight gain I had - 30lbs in one month.
865902 tn?1239312521 Your body is not “full of toxins.” When it is, your liver and kidneys are designed to handle those “toxins” and will do so far better than anything someone tries to sell you. 2. Diets only work when they restrict calories. 3. Your colon is fine and does not deserve to be regularly “cleansed.” Colonics have been around since the early 1900’s (maybe earlier) and the fact that they are still being used is only evidence of the gullibility of humans. 4.
606584 tn?1224853036 That is much safer and has far less side effects including not causing cognitive blunting, weight gain and not needing blood draws as well as the risk of long term kidney damager. And as for Rispedal that has a fair amount of side effects too and Abilify is better with that. Of course with any antipsychotic there is the ever present risk of tardive dyskinesia as I am well aware of being that I have it in its extreme forms.
952564 tn?1268372247 Also, I finally found out the name of the medicine that caused me those massive panic attacks. It was the generic form of Abilify. When I told my doctor he just nodded and said it can be activating for some people. Well, I never will take it again now knowing what it does to me, and at least I now know what it was so that I can easily avoid it.
Avatar n tn (i was wheezing) I was 348 #'s at my highest weight and have always had some trouble with swelling, but it seems to have escalated with the geodone, artane, and tegretol. (I was on seroquel and abilify before that) I lost weight because I have bulimia and I also did some healthy changes at the same time (eating healthy foods that i would keep, exercising etc) I got down to 223 #'s. Then I had a mental breakdown and was put on some medications.
2076385 tn?1332624996 And I had one episode which they described at 'a nervous breakdown' but I was never diagnosed with bipolar until I was in my early 30's and it was blatantly obvious. My health problems also complicated things, I was in severe pain for about 7 years, and taking a lot of opiates. A lot of the bipolar symptoms were masked by that. As a note if you ever have surgery chances of you going 'up' afterwards are high because of the steriods they give you. Just something to note.
