Avatar m tn Hi there! If you are aiming at losing weight, it is important to calculate your current BMI and the target BMI. The target BMI should be in a healthy range. Aside indulging in moderate amounts of physical exercise it is also essential to maintain a healthy diet plan. 1671775 tn?1303860654 Yes, there is a connection as diabetes can slow down your body's ability to fight infection. That mouth infection sounds like it has moved into his intestinal tract. He needs to see a doctor or you take him to a hospital now. The clock is ticking...
Avatar n tn My son was 10, when he was diagnosed with Type I diabetes, about a month after he had been treated for strep throat. The strep didn't "cause" the diabetes, but it somehow triggered it. Without having had the strep, the diabetes might not have showed up until much later, but he was apparently predisposed. This all came from the doctors who treated him, for both the strep and the diabetes.
7600327 tn?1393358885 Thanks... I'm really going to have to start meal prepping, because if I keep eating like this I'll be huge before I even start showing.
Avatar f tn Pump therapy in diabetes can be very beneficial. A pump can reduce the incidence of high blood sugars as well as low blood sugar. Pump therapy also enables the pump wearer to have more flexibility in what they can eat and also when they eat. The pump makes it easier to live life without limits and if you don't want to eat you don't have to eat.
Avatar m tn I am doing well still, I started going back to the gym on Sunday. I always hated going to the gym before work but I am now starting to embrace it. I am now sleeping at least a solid 5 hours straight vs. 2 hrs here and there. I've been trying to go to bed at the same time every night and I've been waking up at 5:30. I figured if I am up at that time anyways, might as well continue to work on my recovery by seizing the day and going to the gym before work at 9am!
Avatar f tn I have been on 3 different antibiotics in the last month trying to fight a UTI. How come it won't go away? I finished each round of each med. Avatar m tn If you do all you can to keep weight down and take care of the diabetes. The diabetes is what you have to worry about. MS may not affect your life expectancy at all. When I was diagnosed with MS I decided I needed to reduce the chances of other disease so I cleaned up my diet, lost weight and started exercising. It was hard at first but I am glad I did it. Taking care of ourselves makes the difference with any illness. It is empowering because it is something I can control.

327385 tn?1378360731 t walk to a new dr and to Donald Trump this one!! FIGHT!!!!!! And continue to fight until someone helps you. General rule on here is that it takes 6 endo before you find one who is worth a nickle. I just fired mine and went back to my PCP for treatment. Am not going to pay someone $300/visit to not even listen to me. Good luck and keep me posted. Dac PS--don't know anything about diabetes insipidus. I have Type 2 diabetes, but I can't help you with yours. Sorry.
Avatar n tn Anytime anyone with diabetes is sick blood sugars can go from extreme highs to extreme lows without any real cause. The body is fighting the illness and thus usually doesn't have the ability to fight the diabetes as well. Most doctors will advise to check BS more often when sick for this reason. Diabetics have to be twice as healthy as the average person for this reason.
Avatar f tn An easy way to lower blood sugar levels is to stay fit and healthy. Regular exercise not only helps lower blood sugar levels, but also helps fight infections. Staying active and taking regular exercise can also help with blood pressure problems. Exercise also helps control the body's weight and regulate cholesterol levels. This exercise does not need to be a grueling workout. Thirty minutes of exercise a day, even walking, will help to lower blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn Right, high WBC was associated with Pima Indians and diabetes. It can be a marker for diabetes but has more to do with fighting infections rather than for diagnosing diabetes. If your WBC is glycated [has glucose attached] it can't fight infection as well as an unglycated cell.
645800 tn?1466860955 In 2010 I was DXed with Diabetes But no matter what I did it kept getting worse. Finally about 2 years ago my Doctor put me on the Dexcom CGM in order to try to figure out what was going on. @ weeks after I got the CGM she checked the data and found out that my BG was spiking over 350 while I was sleeping. I have PTSD and the nightmares were causing my body to dump sugar into my blood for the fight or flight response. So she put me on an insulin pump and 2 months later my A1C was down to 6.

Avatar n tn I am 27 and have been a Type I diabetic since I was 10. I smoke marijuana at least 3 to 4 times a day and am currently trying to stop smoking cigarettes. I don't exercise but, I do walk almost daily between 1 to 2 miles because I don't have a car. I do try to eat right, virtually cutting almost ALL sugar, fried and processed foods out of my diet. During my experiencces smoking marijuana, I've found that it tends to lower my blood sugar if I am in a low stress situation.
