Zoloft vs lexapro drug

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft vs lexapro drug

zoloft

Avatar f tn I saw a psychiatrist, though, and she said that I was on much too low of a dose of Zoloft to be equivalent to Lexapro. If I remember correctly, you were also on 50 mg of Zoloft, correct? It took me about six to eight weeks on the Lexapro to feel better, but once I did, it was FANTASTIC! I'm not having a lot of luck with Zoloft, at least not yet, though my dosage was too low for several weeks.
Avatar f tn lexapro pooped out after many years. i am menopausal and having severe anxiety attacks. ativan for temp. since it's highly addictive. what is better celexa vs zoloft. am confused and scared on stopping ativan and lexapro then adding another med on top of it all. plus i gotta go back to work after the labor day weekend.
Avatar f tn My friends daughter was pregnant and suffered with alot of anxiety and Zoloft was the only drug they would put her on.....but it made her sick and she wanted to be pt on Lexapro....she had to sign a paper stating that she would be responsible if anything went wrong if they put her on the lexapro ....she did really well withthe lexapro and now her little boy is a year old and he is fine....in fact she is pregnant again...
Avatar f tn Ask a question Avatar universal Very scared to start Lexapro and Valium? scared198698 Currently I am in Zoloft withdrawal after having been forced to stop taking it. I took the zoloft on and off for years. Like all SSRIs it's a very nasty drug that I regret ever starting in the first place. I have had some "unexplained" rashes, swelling, rectal bleeding (zoloft induced) and have to stop taking it again.
672514 tn?1265655141 Been taking 30 mg of celexa for just over 4 weeks for anxiety....had dry mouth and a little fogginess for the first couple of weeks but that has worn off. I'm much better than I was without the celexa but still think it needs more time (or possible dosage adjustment)....been wondering if I should try lexapro but hate to change since I'm so far into the celexa. No ED for me....but was warned it was a possibility.
Avatar m tn Later, I moved and changed doctor and my new doctor prescribed Lexapro. She said that it is a better drug than Zoloft and that I would experience less side effects. With Zoloft, I had gained much weight and was continuously having extreme fatigue. When I began seriously TTC-ing, I did research about Lexapro and found out that it is relatively safe.
Avatar m tn will increase to 50mg, I was on zoloft b4 and it changed my life, short version, I was on xanax a number of years, I would not take another drug, finally gave in and took zoloft, was easy to stop xanax and then the zoloft, (ALONG with therapy) , I got my life back. this time I am off xanax and just started zoloft last week and will increase this week, I have been journalling about it.
Avatar f tn I was on Zoloft for many many years until it pooped out on me... Its a great drug it does take some time to really work but once it does your anxiety is gone, at least mine was for 12 years or so. I say give it a try but be patient with it..
Avatar f tn I switched to a psychiatrist that has me on a taper/increase schedule with zoloft and lexapro. I had to be 100mg of zoloft before starting the lexapro, then she introduced the 5mg of lexapro, then the next week she dropped the zoloft down 25mg. then the next week dropped it down another 25mg and increase the lexapro to 10mg... etc. i'm doing much much better than the first doctors ridiculous practice but is what you are saying is it shouldn't even be done that way?
Avatar n tn She decided to switch me from zoloft to Lexapro. She said I could immediatly discontinue the zoloft and start on the lexapro 10 mg. I have been feeling a little out of sorts since I have switched and i am wondering if perhaps I should taper off the zoloft and ease into the lexapro.. or does it not matter?
Avatar f tn I was told to switch from 150 mg Zoloft to 20 mg of lexapro and I am also taking 5 mg of abilify. I am SO WORRIED the lexapro will make e dizzy. Please anyone have insight in this. Please help. I am freaking out and so worried. And I think my doc told me to just switch the Zoloft and stop it completely and just start the lexapro? Is that right. Or do I need to wean off of it. I'm worried. I just took 20 mg of lexapro and not my original Zoloft dose.
415867 tn?1323365503 Newer antidepressants don’t have the same side effect. While Paxil and Zoloft do cause some weight gain, other SSRIs, like Prozac, Celexa and Lexapro, don’t. For Paxil and Zoloft, the weight gain can add up to five to 40 pounds a year. Some people do experience weight gain with Lexapro or Celexa, but most don’t. In this case, it is not a surprise to have idiosyncratic responses, since the chemical structure of all the SSRIs is so similar.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me zoloft today. Is this a good drug for anxiety? Could someone please tell me what they think of this drug? Are there any bad side effects? How long does it take for it to start working? Thank you.
Avatar f tn m wondering if anybody has had experience in taking Cymbalta for anxiety and depression. I took Lexapro for several years and it stopped working, so I tried Zoloft this summer, which didn't help my anxiety at all, so now I'm back on the Lexapro and Buspar. I feel better than I did a few months ago in terms of anxiety, but nowhere near as well as I did in the past, and now my depression is horrible.
Avatar f tn I started it back the end of March. It is not the wonder drug that zoloft was but wondering if in time it could be??
Avatar n tn I tried Zoloft and now I'm back on Lexapro. Nothing seems to be working.
Avatar f tn s a great drug. I took Lexapro for eight years, until it recently stopped working, and then went on Zoloft, and now I'm back on the Lexapro. I have a very hard time tolerating most drugs, but Lexapro never caused me any side effects, except maybe some initial tiredness. I also felt naseaus on Zoloft, but like I said, Lexapro was great.
Avatar f tn I see two possibilities, given you seem to want to go back on the Lexapro -- you can try it again after slowly tapering off the Zoloft -- maybe the break in time off it will allow it to work again. Not likely to happen, but possible, depending on how long has passed. Or you could try Celexa, which is almost the same drug as Lexapro but enough different that it might help you the way the Lexapro did. No way to know, though, other than trial and error. Good luck.
Avatar n tn My mate has recently experienced a hypomanic episode after switching from longterm Zoloft to Lexapro ( Switched due to intractible heartburn, but Zoloft had excellent antidepressant effect) During the early (and unrecognized) phase of the hypomanic episode, a routine ( age 57) ECG was performed and noted IRBBB. This is a new finding, not appearing on any previous ECKs, and is totally asymptomatic. Is this likely a symptom of either the hypomanic episode or the lexapro use?
362387 tn?1207274119 I have depression and generalized anxiety disorder. What are thoughts on Lexapro? I've only taken Zoloft and have been on it for 7 years. Recently diagnosised with thyroid problems and Zoloft plays havoc with those levels. So now I need to switch. Just wanted some opinions? Thanks in advance.
689327 tn?1240229164 In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .
Avatar f tn Zoloft is a great drug, I have had panic attacks and anxiety for years and they went away after being on Zoloft and xanex as needed. It does take some time to find the right dose and the side effects to go away but stay with it!! Before I started the Zoloft I was taking 2-4 mg of xanex a day, after some time I was not taking any, and my life was normal again. Unfortunately after 12 plus years on Zoloft it pooped out on me a year ago...
Avatar f tn Hi I just signed up to this community and am grateful for all of the info being shared. THere is a lot of comfort in all of the posts. My question is about Zoloft and trying to figure out what the therapeutic dose is and how soon I can ask my doctor to increase to get there. I Just completed a SLOW taper of lexapro, while at the time I started a gradual "uphill" taper of the zoloft.
Avatar f tn I know one of the side effects of the drug is that it can cause dizziness, but that is also true of Lexapro, Trazodone, and Atenolol (all of which I currently take, minus the Lexapro) and I've never felt this way on any of those. So, I guess my question for you is has anybody else experienced dizziness when taking Zoloft? If so, how long did this side effect last? It's starting to drive me crazy.
Avatar f tn Currently I am in Zoloft withdrawal after having been forced to stop taking it. I took the zoloft on and off for years. Like all SSRIs it's a very nasty drug that I regret ever starting in the first place. I have had some "unexplained" rashes, swelling, rectal bleeding (zoloft induced) and have to stop taking it again. That would be all fine and dandy except because of all the swelling I had to get an awful steroid shot which has put me in an awful tailspin.
Avatar m tn My physician prescribed Prozac and Xanax and my anxiety shot up...similar to what many of you have shared. I only took it three days. When I told her my reactions and some of the things I learned here she told me I shouldn't feel that way so soon and switched me to Lexapro. Has anyone taken this medication for depression, stress and anxiety?
