Zofran and compazine

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran and compazine

zofran

Avatar f tn Thanks Ryan! I love my compazine and I'm going to stick with it. I tried taking the Zofran the other night for anxiety induced nausea and it did NOTHING! But then I was too scared to take a compazine on top of it. On my really bad times if I have alot of anxiety and nausea with it, I'll take 2.5mg of valium and a 10mg pill of compazine and I'm good.
Avatar f tn I used Zofran and compazine in the past (not on tx) Zofran If it's okay for him to take had no sides and worked the best for me, i've heard others say the same thing.
Avatar f tn If you are on treatment, the first thing I would do is to call my doctor and ask them for some compazine or some Zofran. Zofran works really well, but is quite expensive so the compazine is the next best thing. Things you can try at home include eating a couple of soda crackers, or try sipping on some ginger ale. One other thing that helped me was the juice off the can of peaches. You will probably get more suggestions, but this is a start. Hope you feel better soon.
905378 tn?1244854365 I kept taking it thinking it was the chemo, but it was not, it was the Compazine. Finally I called the chemo nurse and she suggested a different drug which was much better for me. This may not be a side effect that your mom gets but I did want you to be aware of it. I waited too long to switch meds because I didn't know, and I suffered longer than I needed to.
Avatar f tn I am on zofran 8mg and although i only get sick 1 or twice at most and sometimes none, i'm always nauseous and dry heaving...it stinks! Good luck!!
8367118 tn?1442605420 yeah, promethazine is generic for phenergan
564735 tn?1263943526 She is taking the following ani-nausea medicines zofran every 8 hours and taking promethazine every 4 hours. Does anyone have any suggestions to help with the nausea? Also if you are on or have had cisplatin , please let us know what your dosage is and how bad the nausea is? Her intial treatment was ( i think ) 160 mg and it is to be given every 28 days. her DR is planning on either doing a reduce dosgae every 2 weeks or 1 a week to help reduce side effects...
Avatar f tn I have a constant spasm in the left side of my stomach just under my ribs that never goes away, sometimes its like another heart bbeat. I have told the docs and they say sometimes it happens but whatever it is is definetely not suppose to be happening. I take zofran, dicyclimine,& compazine but nothing helps it.
Avatar n tn I'm suffering from some of the same problems. I can't take Reglan, due to a bad intolerance to it. And Phenergan and Compazine just don't work. I see that there are other meds and patches out there, but they are all for chemotherapy patients. What do gastroparesis patients supposed to do? I honestly don't know what we're supposed to do. Can anybody give a suggestion?
Avatar n tn I have severe pain, nausea and vomiting 24/7 and am on narcotic pain meds and Zofran, Compazine, and phenergan for the vomiting. I have a nasal J-tube right now to try to get in some nutrition because of the malnutrition. Thank you for any input any one would have that may help me with this decision.
Avatar f tn During my carbo/taxotere treatments I got Zofran and decadron IV, more decadron and Emend in pill form for three days, and Zofran in pill form for as long as I needed it. I still suffered lots and lots of nausea. Now during my carbo/gemzar treatments I get Aloxi and decadron IV, take Zofran (8 mg) and Promethazine (Phenergan) for four days after each tx. This combo seems to work for me.
315 tn?1230998574 s my sister who normally feels worse that I do on my worse day and I see the fear in her eyes....I am taking phenergan and compazine for the nausea..but it's just not working. SOOOO any recommendations on nausea and nutrition that I might be able to handle right now??? Thanks ladies..
Avatar f tn I am 9 weeks pregnant with #2 and the nausea is debilitating. I have a script for zofran, it doesn't work. I can not take reglan, phenergan, compazine, or emetrol. It doesn't matter if I eat. The nausea gets worse as the day goes on. It's not quite as bad if I stay flat, however I work full time and have a 4 year old. I was sick my entire pregnancy with DD. I puked more with her. This nausea is just about intolerable.
Avatar m tn I've been on Seasonique for about 2 years now, and I've been fine up until this summer when I started having severe pressure in my upper abdomen right under my ribcage. At first, it didn't matter WHAT I ate. That was in July. I JUST got diagnosed with GERD a couple weeks ago after my second upper endoscopy. It's been a HECK of a year...well, my symptoms are AWFUL. Thanksgiving, I had plain stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie.
Avatar f tn Im 27 years old and a mommy to 1. I had my gallbladder removed last tuesday and am still having problems eating. My appetite is non existent and im constantly nauseous. nausea 24/7! So far ive tried Phenergan, Zofran and Compazine. Nothing helps. I've lost 15 lbs which has put me at 95 lbs. I feel dizzy, malnourished and just over all tired.
Avatar m tn Try asking your doc for a script for zofran or compazine. Both are anti nausea/vomiting meds. It might help give you some relief until it gets figured out.
Avatar f tn I've had zofran but the taste does nothing to help the nausea lol. Right now I am taking compazine, which they use for chemotherapy a lot. Half the time it works, the other half not so much.
1431734 tn?1421011671 i did not want to resort to the heavy hitters i used for chemo. i believe i used zofran and compazine but cant recall which worked!! i will start with the peppermint and licorice and see if they help before bringing in the big guns. peppermint oil for work days is a good idea too. as for pot i dare not go down that road as i might like it too much altho i preferred other substances in the olden days!
Avatar f tn Compazine, Compazine!!!! My Mom takes it in the car on the way to chemo, on the way home from chemo and am/pm for the next 4 days. She has had NO nausea! While the compazine does make her tired, she is already fatigued from the chemo anyway. My Mom said that she would rather be tired and exhausted than have to deal with the nausea. I am heart felt when I say I am going to pray for you and your dear friend!!!!! Blessings to you!!!!
Avatar f tn Hi there! I honestly have no experience with anyone taking Compazine FOR anxiety...but obviously...the way you're taking it...to avoid nausea DURING a panic attack (as it is an antiemetic)...it seems to be benefitting you in more than one way, and your use seems to be very infrequent. I cannot imagine there should be much of a reason why you couldn't take it occasionally, as you have been doing. Continue discussing it with your doctor to see what your options are. Also....
Avatar f tn I lived with ice water by my bed at night. Taking prescribed Zofran (anti-emetic) and Reglan for the acidosis (neutralized the acid) - the throwing up constantly was wearing away the lining of my esophagus. Before my throat healed over a day or two, EVERYTHING hurt to eat. Then I'd throw up. With the meds, I could at least get a lil food down and keep it there.
7763229 tn?1396626895 I have hyperemesis graviderum, am at 14weeks, have had with every pregnancy I've had( the gnarly version of hg) and I'm taking both Reglan and Zofran. Not sure what a pic line is. I've also never had them try to give me steroids. Try asking about those ones I'm taking, they really help (antiemetics). Nothing even helps me (no crackers, no ginger etc.) unless it's those two together.
Avatar f tn She is tonite extrememly ill with nausea and headache . Zofran nor Emend bring relief. I take Zofran prn during chemo, along with the E the first 3 days and have not had much of a problem. Is there something else out there aside fro Compazine, Zofran, Emend that she may speak to Doc about? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn There ARE some things that you can try though--ginger in different forms--ginger lolly pops works. Also, you can try a combination of Unisom and Vitamin B6 or just plain Vitamin B6. We usually also advise frequent small meals rather than large. IF these suggestions are not working for you, your doctor might be able to prescribe something such as phenergan or compazine for relief. Good luck!
