Will nail fungus grow out

Common Questions and Answers about Will nail fungus grow out

nail

Avatar n tn ANYTHING you use will take a year. The nail has to grow out. Prescription oral pills can kill you, but they are easy - once a day for three months, then wait a year to see how they worked. Otherwise, use Vicks Vap-o-Rub every day until the nail clears up.
Avatar n tn It appears as though both of my big toes have a new nail growing in underneath the old nail. The old Nail is raised up quite a bit compared to the new growth, which is about 1/4". I also can see a line on both nails that appears to be where the new nail is at, and that is about 75% to the end of my toe. The new nail looks totally fine. I'm 25 years old. None of my other toenails are affected. No pain or other symptoms of any kind.
Avatar f tn t seem to fade, or grow out with the nail, so now I am unsure what it could be! I am terrified of the prospect of my nail falling off or something as I have a real phobia of nails (strange I know!!). I don;t want to bother my doctors with it as I am already seeing them for a number of things related to my back and an operation, and I always feel like a hypochondriac (sp?) when I see them as I put off seeing them so then have a list of things to sort!
Avatar m tn I have toe nail fungus on several toes on one foot. Is there a home cure? This discussion is related to TOENAIL FUNGUS.
Avatar n tn I was okay trying to control(possibly) the fungus on my toes and my thumb and index fingernails. Now it needs like what my wife is having(black dot on her thumb) now resembles what I had once upon a time. I don't want her to fight with fungus. I did see a dermatolgist yesterday and she said my toes are likely fungus-related but she had I didn't have enough nail for samples. Prescribed me Penlac(sp?) and asked me to go back when the toenails grow out... I am so confused now.
Avatar m tn the fungus now has a great area to thrive. cut all the free nail back. apply Lamisil cream (over the counter) to the area daily. if you don't see improvement, see your podiatrist.
Avatar f tn Once you have treated the infection then you really should let the discoloured nail grow out, it doesnt look the nicest but lemon juice applied once or twice a week will fade some of the green/brown/yellow colour away.
Avatar f tn Cut off the loose nail portion close to the skin without cutting into the skin. A pair of fingernail nippers or fingernail scissors work best. Then brush on pure tea tree oil a couple of times a day.
Avatar f tn You should see your doctor so that he can prescribe an antifungal medication for you. The infections may take some time to grow out of your nails and you may need more than one dose of antifungals.
569705 tn?1217017492 gave me pamphlets on hand eczema and the paper said that some eczema is associated with a fungus that also affects the soles of your feet. When I intially went to the dr my feet where already infected. The nails on my hands are also discolored and grow in what I can only describe has "ripples" and crumble off. I have been seeing this dr since January and am not happy with my progress.
483814 tn?1214311480 It has definitely helped me with the recurring nail fungus, which was extremely irritating, especially as a woman, because you contaminate your nail polish over and over.
Avatar m tn Carefully trim any loose nail portions off as they grow, including any spots with nail separation. Cutting off the loose nail and then doing the oil is key to curing this.
1930941 tn?1400107522 I had this happen due to toe nail fungus that I got after I broke the nail and then when the new one came in it had a fungus which made the grow funny and dig into the tissue. My GP gave me two antibiotics then an antifungal. In the end the nail had to come off and finally it is ok now. Let me know what happens. Best if you can find a podiatrist that specializes in diabetics.
Avatar m tn I have tried the Lamisil cream but it does not work. The nail does grow but it grows very flaky and uneven with bumps. For the past 10 years, I have felt embarrassed and insecure when showing my hands to others or even the simple act of shaking someone else's hands. Please try to help me regain the confidence that I had 10 years ago. Thank you and any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. The link to the images of the nails is attached below. Avatar m tn Is it possible that my nailbed is so damaged, that if the nail falls off, my nail will not grow back at all? And should I remove my nail somehow or do you have any suggestions that I should do?
Avatar f tn I have something similar... I have a vein growing on TOP of my big toe.... it still has blood in it, but closed off at the end. when I cut my toe nails I have to cut the vein and it gets very very messy, so I have to press on it for ages to seal it off again. I've had it for over 25 years when I was in the army and having to wear steel capped boots all the time. Around 10 years ago i dropped a huge log on my foot and it totally ripped the toenail off.
Avatar f tn s got a rash on his hand a few years ago and now his thumb looks like it has fungus under the nail, and the rest of his nails grow out deformed and he get these small like blisters under the skin sometimes. what should he do.
Avatar n tn Now that all of his nails have completely fallen off, the nail bed is puffy, dry and when the nail trys to grow back, it splits off the bed because of the puffiness. He's gone and recieved a biopsy, it came back NOT a fungus. He has also recieved an STD test and that came back negitive as well. He does not drink much anymore and is not prescribed pain medication anymore either, but he suffered from a dependency from both and still no change.
2109342 tn?1380908975 On my right hand....under my thumb cuticle, it looks like mold (black) is starting to grow again. When it continues to grow, a small hole will eat through that part of my nail, under the cuticle (no pain but itches so much). The hole will eventually close, leaving a high ridge. As the nail continues to grow, that ridge grows out & more mold will form under the cuticle. Then, another small hole will eat through the nail. I'll end up with ridge after ridge on my nail.
Avatar f tn I unexpectedly got nail fungus last year, and I treated it with topical tea tree oil and I took Dr Mercola's Probiotic Packs Daily for bout 2 monts, it cleared it up and they have been fine since.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Did you have a toe nail bed infection in addition to the toe nail fungus? Did your toe nail fall off or did it just penetrate the nail itself? I am taking the oral Lamisil (luckily my insurance pays for it) and so far so good (check my liver enzymes in a month). I am also taking sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim for the anti bacterial. Yeah I know vinegar is a great cleaner and has many uses. We use it to clean our bathroom floors and even on pergo it doesn't seem to cause any damage.
