aciphex

Avatar n tn This would require an assessment of the vitamin serum levels and replenishing the same orally or parenterally. The drug may need to be stopped temporarily and an alternative given. Hope this helps. You are welcome with any further clarifications. Take care.
Avatar f tn However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn Two or three years ago I was diagnosed with GERD via an endoscopy. I was put on Aciphex. I am also a heavy drinker. I have not taken the Aciphex on a regular basis because up until a month or so ago I have not had any symptoms. I am now having difficulty swallowing or at least feel like I have a lump in my throat - the constant clearing of throat, cough. I am now terrified that I have Barretts or cancer.
Avatar f tn I read your profile and if you have neurological issues, they are likely related to inadequate B12 as gastric acid is needed for its production (for your purposes the Methylocobalmin form is of specific interest since it is the neurological form of B12) and please don't rely on any blood tests which only test for general levels of Cobalamin and not Methylocobalamin and the lab ranges are far too low.

Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar n tn What is the best drug for these conditions? GI doc said Aciphex, another GI doc said omeprazole and that they all do the same thing. Patient says Dexilant is working best for him. Which should he take?
Avatar f tn PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) are a group of medications used to treat GERD like Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex, Nexium, and Dexilant.
Avatar n tn Pylori bacteria was eradicated by antibiotics and Aciphex my stomach is now in a hyper acidic state and this is causing the water brash. Has anyone heard of this as a reason for water brash. I have read water brash is caused because of "minor" acid reflux. This means a small of acid backs up into the esophagus and the salivary glands as a defensive measure produces excess saliva and in some cases the sinuses produce mucos? Does this make any sense?
Avatar n tn I came across some soma and really do not know what it is for. is it a narcotic? is it addictive?
Avatar f tn Have you had a HIDA/CCK done? If you're having GB symptoms without stones you may be looking at gallbladder dyskinesia (Acalculous Gallbladder Disease). Gallbladder malfunctions can cause all sort of weird symptoms, so I wouldn't put migraines out of the question. Might also be a side effect of the drug. (I used to get migraines while on Nexium. Once I dropped it, the migraines stopped.) In any case, you need to be investigated further.
Avatar n tn (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two. Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn Make sure to check with your doctor that it is safe for you to discuntinue use of the Aciphex before you go off of it though. I might also consider getting tested for the H-Polory again because I think its not uncommim for it to show a false-negative, and it can also come back again. Just a thought if your still feeling bad. Also Benadryl works great for nausea, ya have to give it about an hour to kick in though.
Avatar m tn Is the list contained in the drug store chain. For ex. it you are on the list at CVS, are you also on the list for Rite Aid, or Walgreen.
Avatar m tn s is caused by the reflux of bile rather than acid. The bile first refluxes from the duodenum into the stomach and then into the esophagus. Acid might make the esophagus more prone to damage by the bile salts. Many patients with Barrett's have minimal symptoms but must still be followed because there is a 10% risk of progressing to cancer. Close surveillance should give adequate warning to allow intervention to prevent the degeneration to cancer.
