Avatar m tn I was tested positive for HIV this February. I have been an occasional user of MDMA via syringe. I tested negative for Hepatitis B and C. During the first week of June, I suddenly came down with a fever which wouldn't go away. Later the doctors found a lesion on my liver, for which I was treated with Metronidazole (Metrogel) injections, and later metrogel tablets. Recent CT scan shows "a cystic lesion on the liver, measuring 4x3.5 cms with a smooth enhancing wall seen in segment IV.

Avatar m tn If you were my patient, I would advise you that the obvious problem with using the Metrogel and the tampons is that the tampons will soak up the gel. Since you are at the tail end of your therapy anyway, you could probably get away with using the gel at night before bed and the gel during the day although it is not ideal, it is probably good enough.

Avatar f tn The reason that the other poster could have been cured by cipro is that she may have had a Mycoplasma and it may have been sensitive to ciprofloxacin. But the standard treatment for bv is either metronidazole or Clindamycin. So you can try the cipro and see if it clears up but if it doesn't then if can take clindamycin I would then take probiotics after. Cipro can treat a lot of UTI's but not all. It depends on the bacteria that is causing the infection and how resistant it is.
Avatar f tn I also had a question for you. How long will you be taking the Metronidazole and what tests did your doctor run in diagnosing you with BV? The reason I ask is because I have symptoms very similar to BV however every Dr. I go to suggest that I don't have it.
