Avatar f tn All the complaints you said are those related to bronchial asthma. U do not classify asthma only by wheezing or cough. Carry out a pulmonary function test and a chest x-ray. Tell your doctor that salbutamol is not helping.
Avatar n tn The Foradil will last for a long time. It will save you a hospital bill on a bad day. The albuterol suflate is short-acting. The steroidal inhalers do NOT work immediately.
Avatar n tn Its main purpose is to lessen the chest pain, difficulty breathing, and wheezing associated with asthma. Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to treat many of the same issues as Flovent, but it can also be used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Albuterol comes in a syrup, tablet, or as a suspension in an inhaler. Albuterol works by causing the passages to the lung to relax and open, which makes breathing easier.
Avatar m tn m sure it would be a scary time to have any breathing difficulties. For informational purposes, albuterol is an inhaler that is not a steroid.
Avatar f tn Albuterol is considered safe to use in pregnancy, and as your doc said, definitely gotta keep you breathing!
Avatar f tn Not sure but 5/24 hr is a lot.
757137 tn?1347196453 This is used as an alternative to Albuterol if the side effects are severe with Albuterol. This could also be used in conjunction with Albuterol, to relieve acute flare ups of Asthma. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your input, what exactly is AS? My one inhaler i use Albuterol 2 puffs every 4 hours and my dulera is 2 puffs every 12 hours. Albuterol makes me shaky for hours,I hate the way it makes me feel.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info!! I've only used it twice since I found out. I forgot to ask the other day when I was at the dr but I figured it was better to be able to breathe! I was starting to feel really constricted and I don't think that's good for the baby either.
1754037 tn?1327886811 I actually used Advair for a little while but it never helped me, I still used my inhaler just as often. I would do research on whatever drug he is refering to before you take it. I've only ever needed/used my two inhalers...my flovent twice daily and albuterol as needed.
Avatar f tn The funny thing is that on my medication (it is albuterol) it says that chest pains and drowsiness ARE side effects so im not so much worried about that. it's just the over whelming sensationg that i have to burp that im worried about because it is extremely uncomfortable. I also am using my inhaler correctly. i know this for a fact because my doctor showed me how to use it and watched me do it, and said it was correct.
Avatar n tn I know physicians suggest they be used for this purpose. My own opinion is that this is inappropriate, especially for a sixteen year old participating in extracurricular sports. Albuterol sulfate certainly opens the airways. But you are then operating on "reserve". Any further agravation and constriction cannot be resolved. Steroids take too long a time. The answer for a sixteen year old is to discontinue the excercise, not take albuterol sulfate beforehand.
Avatar f tn A chest x-ray isn't used to diagnose asthma, so your doctor can't tell if you have asthma by looking at an x-ray of your chest. By the way, unremarkable is a good thing because it means they didn't find anything wrong on your chest x-ray. To diagnose asthma, a doctor performs a lung function test, called a spirometry test, which measures facets of your breathing. They give you albuterol, and do the spirometry test again.
Avatar f tn Yes... it is just the albuterol. And that's what I figured... Also, if I go to the ER - I know that is what they will do..
Avatar m tn In addition, there are other drugs used for the treatment of asthma and you should ask his doctor if any of these might be worth a try. Cough without wheezing is not uncommon and may sometimes be the only sign of asthma.
1987536 tn?1337916244 their daily affair treatment plus albuterol as needed? The reality is that I have had allergic rhinitis during the whole pregnancy, I am 18 weeksand the last two days have been horrible w my breathing. So, I used my rescue nebulizer yesterday and today with albuterol. I feel much better, but curiosity intrigued me and I started Googling about the risks of not taking meds vs taking the meds and they both blow.
435139 tn?1255460391 I am allergic to singular and I have been taking albuterol as my medication. I used to take Beclovent and the albuterol about 10 years ago but then went to albuterol only and it has seemed to do the trick until now. I'm looking for experiences with mucomyst if anyone has used it. I am all wheezy but my cough just isn't as productive as I'd like it to be...any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well!
Avatar f tn My physician has prescribed both Advair 50/250 and Spiriva, along with Pro Air p4-6h prn and nebulizer treatment (Albuterol) q4-6h prn. I am still having problems breathing. Is it okay to take these all at the same time? Will there be any side effects?
Avatar n tn If you have any doubts purchase an extra albuterol sulfate inhaler and have him keep him with it if he is at kindergarten or school. A single use of the inhaler (if used inappropriately) is not going to cause any life-threatening problems, and if he does develop an asthmatic attack, it will keep him alive. Get youself a good stethascope and learn how to auscultate his lung fields anterior and posterior, four quadrants. Listen for wheezes, rales and ronchi.
1057060 tn?1266513126 However, my asthma inhaler is a different story, Like Losingmymind said, it is VERY important for the baby to have the proper amount of oxygen. The only inhaler I currently use is my Albuterol and I used it with my first pregnancy too. I did a ton of research and found out it's been around for years and used safely to control asthma during pregnancy.
Avatar m tn I believe you do get dependent on it. I kicked advair and it was very hard took about 5 days of labored breathing and not much sleep and then I was completely normal. I was off all asthma drugs for 3 years till a my brother rescued a cat I had asthma attack and started using a resuce inhaler Again and I have been on albutrol since.
1154802 tn?1266485720 As far as effictiveness is concerned, albuterol is albuterol no matter how you take it. I got off the inhaled steroids because they were killing me (literally).
Avatar m tn My husband who is 61 has AFIB. He takes albuterol and advair when needed. Are any of these drugs dangers with his AFIB?
Avatar n tn Shes had heart and blood test, and a scan of her brain and they say all of that is normal. I know this is kinda jumbled and i apologize for that. i hope it is clear enough for you to understand. If someone has some answers please tell me im worried....
Avatar f tn combivent also known as albuterol has ingredients in it such as steroids that can definately aggrevate the rhythm of your heart and is actually one of the side effects. I was on albuterol a couple of years ago for bronchitis and the second time i used the inhaler my heart started really acting up...my family doc is the one who prescribed it...i called my heart doc and he told me not to use it and call back the family doc to give me an inhaler that was steroid free....
Avatar f tn And, phew... I used albuterol inhaler during Tx because of bronchitis for months. It was ventolin Susan. So I just searched everywhere & could find NO contraindications w/ SOF or LDV ( Harvoni) !! Hi Linda, excited for your labs & bday next week... gonna be a great year! I listened a bunch of times & ad says amiodarone, St John's & rifampin. Grateful I first thought he said albuterol too, but it , of course, was amiodarone . We can all breathe now :-) Thx again Pat!
